- Connect Joy-con to grip: This is the same process as connecting to the NS console. Slide the Joy-con from top to bottom along the grip's sliding rail until a click sound is heard. The grips connected to the Joy-cons will light up on either side of the NS icon.
- Take Joy-con down from the device: Locate the "uninstall" button on the back of the Joy-con. Slide the Joy-con from the bottom to the top while holding the "uninstall" button until it is completely detached from the device.

- Back to connection mode: When a Joy-con is separated from the console, press any button on the Joy-con to wake it up; the four LEDs will flash. If they are not connected to the console for five seconds, they will enter sleep mode. When separated from the console, they can reconnect by pressing the "Home" button when the console is in sleep mode. If the main Joy-con attached to the console's sliding rail is in sleep mode, pressing the "Home" button will wake up the console.
