Overview of Components
The camera unit features the following ports and indicators:

Installation
Follow these steps to install the camera:
Connecting Power and Computer
- Connect the power adapter to the camera's power port and then plug it into a wall outlet.
- Connect the camera to your computer using the provided USB cable. If your computer has a USB Type-C port, use the included USB type-A to type-C adapter to connect the camera.
- Ensure all cables are securely connected to the camera before proceeding with mounting or securing them.
Mounting Options
The camera can be mounted in several ways:
Wall Mount Installation
The diagrams illustrate the process of attaching the camera to a wall. This involves securing the L-mount bracket to the wall using screws, and then attaching the camera to the bracket. Key dimensions for wall mounting are approximately 97.5mm (3.84 inches) and 58mm (2.28 inches) for screw hole spacing, with screw hole diameters of Ø5.5mm (Ø0.22 inches).
Ceiling Mount/Switch Box Installation
The diagrams show how to mount the camera to a ceiling structure or a standard switch box using appropriate brackets and screws.
Remote Controller
The remote controller provides access to various camera functions:
- Camera Select (1, 2, 3): Switch between saved camera presets.
- Camera Directional Control: Arrow keys for panning and tilting the camera.
- Line In: Audio input connection.
- SmartFraming: Automatically frames subjects. Can be toggled between automatic and manual modes by pressing and holding for 1 second.
- Zoom In/Out: Adjusts the camera's zoom level.
- Preset: Buttons to save or recall specific camera positions.
- Brightness: Controls the image brightness (Brightness -, Brightness +).
- Call/Answer: Initiates or answers video calls.
- Enter: Confirms selections.
- Mute/Un-mute: Mutes or unmutes the microphone.
- Volume Up/Down: Adjusts the audio volume.
- Preset Hot key: Quick access to programmed preset positions.
- Preset Position: Buttons to set specific preset locations.
- Hang up: Ends video calls.
Note: Some advanced functions require the AVer PTZApp. The CAM540 model may not support all remote functions. The remote controller requires two AAA batteries.
Making a Video Call
To use the CAM540 for video calls, a computer is required:
- Open your preferred video collaboration application, such as Skype™, Skype for Business, Google Hangouts™, ZOOM™, WebEx™, Adobe Connect™, WebRTC, TrueConf, V-Cube, U-meeting, Ringcentral, BlueJeans, or Fuze.
- In your application's settings, set the CAM540 as the primary camera device. Consult your application's setup guide for specific instructions.
- You are now ready to make a video call.
The CAM540 is a Plug-n-Play conference camera, meaning no special drivers are typically needed for basic operation. For advanced settings and firmware updates, download the AVer PTZApp from www.aver.com/download-center.
