Location

  • Choose a location near a grounded electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords or adapter plugs.
  • Place out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources (range, dishwasher).
  • Install on a level, strong floor.
  • Consider water supply for ice maker; turn ice maker off if not connecting water.

[CAUTION] Do not install where temperatures are below 55°F (13°C) or above 110°F (43°C). Do not block the toe grille for proper air circulation.

Installation clearances

  • Sides & Top: 3/8 inch
  • Back: 1 inch

[NOTE] Allow extra space if hinge side is against a wall for wider door opening.

Toe Grille Installation and Removal

To install toe grille: Open doors, slide grille over lower hinges, fasten bottom and top clips. Close doors and fasten side clips.

To remove toe grille: With doors closed, unfasten side clips. Open doors, press top of grille to pop it off. Pull grille outward.

Door Opening

Doors are designed to shut within a 20-degree opening. Position for easy access and full door opening.

Guidelines for final positioning:

  • All four corners must rest firmly on the floor.
  • Cabinet must be level front and rear.
  • Sides should tilt 1/4 inch (6mm) front-to-back for proper door seal.
  • Doors should align and be level.

Adjust front rollers to meet these conditions.

To level the cabinet using the front rollers:

  1. Open doors, remove toe grille.
  2. Close doors, use screwdriver or socket wrench to adjust front rollers.
  3. Ensure doors are bind-free with seals touching cabinet.

To level the doors using the adjustable lower hinge (some models):

  1. Remove set screw locking door height.
  2. If refrigerator door is lower, turn adjustment screw clockwise with a 7/16 inch wrench to raise it.
  3. If freezer door is lower, turn adjustment screw clockwise with a 7/16 inch wrench to raise it.
  4. Verify door stop contacts lower hinge and top of door does not contact upper hinge.
  5. Reinstall set screw.

Replace toe grille.

Automatic Ice & Water Dispenser

Priming the water supply system

[CAUTION] Recommended water pressure: 30-100 psi. Excessive pressure may cause malfunction.

  1. Press and hold glass against dispenser paddle to start filling.
  2. Keep glass in place until water dispenses (may take 1.5 minutes).
  3. Continue dispensing for 4 minutes to flush system impurities.

[NOTE] Dispenser shuts off after 3 minutes of continuous use; release paddle to reset. Dispensed water is not chilled; add ice for colder water.

Ice Maker and Storage Bin Capacity

Produces 2.5-3 lbs of ice per 24 hours. Produces 10 cubes every 75-90 minutes.

Ice bin capacity: Standard depth ~11 lbs; Counter depth ~8.5 lbs.

Turning the ice maker on and off

Use the On/Off feature on the control panel. Press and hold On/Off button for 3 seconds.

[IMPORTANT] Turning off ice maker disables ice making only; water and existing ice can still be dispensed.

[NOTE] Plastic signal arm stops production when bin is full; do not use it to manually stop the ice maker.

Ice maker operation & care

Ice maker produces ice within 24 hours after proper cooling. Ice fills from the rear; dispense ice to force it forward for complete bin filling.

Using the ice maker after installation

Prime water supply before first use to avoid discolored or odd-flavored ice.

[IMPORTANT] Ice maker is factory-set to ON. If no water supply, turn it OFF to prevent loud chattering.

[IMPORTANT] Jamming ice cubes/chips may indicate a need to change the water filter. Replace filter if it's six months old or clogged.

Ice maker/dispenser tips:

  • Turn ice maker OFF if no water supply or supply is off.
  • Normal sounds: Motor running, ice dropping, water valve, running water.
  • Dispensing ice may produce snapping/clicking sounds from chute opening/closing.
  • Get cubes directly from bin for large quantities.
  • Old ice cubes may develop odd flavor; empty bin periodically.
  • Small pieces may accompany whole cubes.
  • Dispense ice into container before adding liquids to avoid splashing.
  • Ice filling to the top of the bin is normal.

[CAUTION] Softened water can damage the ice maker; ensure softener is properly maintained.

Cleaning the storage bin

Clean bin regularly, especially before vacation or moving.

  1. Turn off ice maker.
  2. Remove ice bin by lifting front slightly and pulling straight out.

Remove and empty bin if ice melts/refreezes due to power failure or if dispenser is not used frequently.

[CAUTION] NEVER use an ice pick to break up ice. Use warm water for stuck ice. Ensure bin is dry before replacing.

[CAUTION] Support ice bin underside when removing; full bins are heavy.

  1. Clean bin with mild detergent, rinse with clear water.
  2. Allow bin to dry completely.
  3. Remove ice chips, clean shelf and chute.
  4. Replace bin, turn ice maker ON.

[IMPORTANT] When removing/replacing bin, do not rotate auger. If rotated, realign by turning 45 degrees until bin fits. Improper alignment prevents ice dispensing and may affect door closure.

Diagrams show ice bin removal and auger adjustment.

Changing the Filter

Locating the Filter
