The main components of the MotoMaster Eliminator Mobile Power Outlet are:

Intended Use

The MotoMaster Eliminator mobile power outlet converts low-voltage 12V DC from a vehicle battery into conventional 115V AC power. This enables the operation of standard household devices such as portable music players, cell phones, digital cameras, handheld video games, portable work lights, portable DVD players, battery chargers, stereo systems, and laptop computers. The device uses a modified sine wave, providing consistent and efficient power for most devices.

Note: Do not connect this mobile power outlet to batteries below 6V and above 16V, as it may get damaged.

The device is not suitable for professional or industrial use.

Options for Connecting Devices

You can connect devices to the mobile power outlet via:

Operation

Determining the Maximum Load of Connected Devices

WARNING! DO NOT overload your mobile power outlet! Overloading the outlet, even for a short time, could result in serious damage to the outlet and/or the connected device.

To avoid overloading:

IMPORTANT! If wattage is not listed, calculate it using the formula: VOLTS x AMPERES = WATTS. For example, 115 Volts x 0.5 Amperes = 60 Watts.

CAUTION! Understand the difference between rated (running) wattage and surge (starting) wattage.

RATED (RUNNING) WATTAGE: The average power a device consumes continuously.

SURGE (STARTING) WATTAGE: The power a device consumes at start-up for a limited period (2-3 seconds). Some devices, like those with induction motors, may have a start-up surge 3 to 7 times their rated wattage.

The mobile power outlet can supply momentary surge power higher than its maximum rating (200W vs 100W). However, products with a rated wattage lower than the maximum may still exceed the surge capability and trigger an overload shutdown.

Power Ratings

5 min max. power rating120 W
Continuous power rating (RATED WATTAGE)100 W
Surge rating max. (SURGE WATTAGE)200 W

Wattage of Commonly Used Devices

IMPORTANT! The wattages listed below are estimates. Always check the specific requirements on the device's rating label and in its operating instructions.

Devices that can typically be connected:

PRODUCTWATTS REQUIRED
Portable music1-5 W
Cell phone10 W
Digital camera15 W
Handheld gaming device20 W
Portable work light25 W
Portable DVD player30 W
Battery Charger35 W
Stereo system50 W
Laptop computer75 W
13" television100 W

Note: Power requirements are estimates. To calculate wattage, use: amperage x 115.

IMPORTANT! Add up the total wattage of devices to be powered. Take into consideration the surge wattage required by electrical motors as well as the rated wattage.

Example of simultaneous operation:

DEVICESURGE (STARTING) WATTAGE MAX. 200 WRATED (RUNNING) WATTAGE MAX. 100 W
Cell Phone1010
Laptop5050
Total wattage used6060

Devices that typically CANNOT be connected

These devices may have a start-up surge or continuous rating that is too high (e.g., devices requiring more than 120W).

Positioning of the Mobile Power Outlet

Position the mobile power outlet on a flat and stable surface in a location that is:

Before You Start

Connecting the MotoMaster Eliminator Mobile Power Outlet

  1. Insert the lighter plug directly into the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket. Ensure the plug is fully inserted.
  2. Plug an AC product into the three-prong AC receptacle and turn it on. Ensure your product draws 120 W or less of continuous AC power.
  3. To avoid discharging the battery, always remove the mobile power outlet from the lighter socket when not in use.
  4. The mobile power outlet is now ready for use.

Maintenance

WARNING! Before cleaning, ensure the mobile power outlet is switched off and disconnected from the power source.

Maintaining Battery Condition

Fuse Replacement

WARNING! For continued protection against fire or electric shock, replace only with a fuse of the same type and rating (12 V, 8 A).

To replace the fuse:

  1. Screw off the upper cover of the cigarette lighter plug.
  2. Remove the faulty fuse.
  3. Insert a new fuse.
  4. Screw the cover of the plug back on.

Troubleshooting

The mobile power outlet is equipped with protective shut-down features.

Protection Features and Causes

PROTECTIONPOSSIBLE CAUSESOLUTION
Low battery low-voltage shutdownVoltage drops to 10.0-10.5 V. This protects the battery from being over-discharged.Recharge the battery.
High-Voltage shutdownA defective battery charging system can cause the battery voltage to rise to high levels (15.0-16.3 V). Although the mobile power outlet has protection against high voltage, it might still be damaged if input voltage exceeds 16 V.Disconnect the connected devices. Verify that the charging system is properly regulated and the battery is 12V nominal.
Overload shutdownConnecting a device rated too high or a load drawing excessive surge power.Use a product with a power rating within the mobile power outlet's continuous power rating range (see Operation).
Overheat shutdownThe power inverter exceeds its safe operating temperature.
  • Switch the mobile power outlet off and disconnect it from the cigarette lighter socket.
  • Disconnect all connected devices and allow the mobile power outlet to cool for at least 15 minutes.
  • Use a brush to clear any blocked ventilation holes.
  • Move the mobile power outlet to a cooler place. Reduce the load if continuous operation is required.

General Problems

PROBLEMPOSSIBLE CAUSESOLUTION
The connected device does not switch on.The battery is defective.Check the battery and replace it if required.
The mobile power outlet is damaged and needs to be repaired.Have the mobile power outlet repaired by an authorized service centre.
Connection to the mobile power outlet or cigarette lighter plug is not tight.Check all connections. Make sure the connection is correct and tight.
Measured mobile power outlet output is too low.The battery voltage is too low.Recharge the battery.
No power to inverter.Blown fuse.Replace fuse.
Buzz in the audio system.Inadequate internal power supply filtering of stereo system.Use an audio system with a high-quality filter.
Television interference.TV signals are weak.
  • Adjust the orientation of the mobile power outlet, television, antenna, and cables.
  • Maximize TV signal strength by using a better antenna and use shielded antenna cable where possible.
  • Try a different TV model.
