HDMI Output
The MH2-4K's HDMI output provides 4K@60 video via an HDMI cable to displays, AVRs, or sound bars. Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) commands can be utilized to manage the connected sync device.
Video File Information
The MH2-4K supports MPEG-4 encoded videos with a maximum resolution of 4K@60. It is recommended to test all files prior to deployment. For detailed specifications, refer to BrightSign: BrightSign Specifications.
Audio Output
The MH2-4K can output digital (Toslink optical) and/or analog (3.5mm stereo) audio simultaneously, as configured via BrightAuthor. Audio output via HDMI can also be controlled through software.
Push-Buttons
For media control, connect EasyPlug push-buttons to the designated ports. These buttons utilize an RJ9 connector for straightforward installation and reliability. Compatible push-buttons are available in various colors; a blue LED ring model (013-100) is shown.

Micro SD Card Slot
Programming instructions and media files are stored on a Micro SD card. Media files placed on the root of the card will autoplay upon power-up. Ensure custom programming remains on the card when updating video files.
Serial Communications
Control Port (RS-232)
The MH2-4K can send and receive serial commands via RS-232 at any baud rate configured in BrightAuthor. The port is an RJ45 jack, with adapter cables available for 3.5mm or DB-9 serial ports. A switch allows setting the port for Null or Straight configuration.
Control Bus (RS-485)
The RS-485 control bus enables interaction with devices such as Audio Authority TouchSelect panels or the 1895 Visual Volume knob. It can also control linked switch modules or amplifiers. The MH2-4K operates as unit ID 0, responding to commands addressed to this ID. Commands are echoed on both the RS-232 control port and the RS-485 control bus.

Example System: Sound Bars
The MH2-4K enhances engaging sound bar demonstrations by coordinating complex audio, video, and lighting effects. It allows customers to audition sound bars, select media, add rear speakers, compare TV speakers with sound bars, and adjust volume. A push-button initiates a sound bar demonstration, plays the first media file, and activates shelf lighting, including highlighting the selected subwoofer. Media selection is managed via a small touch screen. Rear speakers are powered by a smart amplifier that synchronizes volume with the selected sound bar. Upon inactivity, the display reverts to a silent state, ready for the next customer.
System Diagram Description
The system diagram illustrates the integration of the MH2-4K MediaHub with other Audio Authority components for a sound bar demonstration. The MH2-4K is centrally connected via HDMI to a display screen. It interfaces with a touch screen via USB and with push-buttons for user interaction. Audio outputs (Digital and Analog) connect to speakers and potentially other audio equipment. The system also includes:
- Model 1804: Connected for lighting control.
- Model 1821: A Digital Audio Demonstrator connected via Control Bus.
- Model 1805: A 2-Channel Amplifier, connected via RS-485 and RS-232, powering the speakers.
Connections shown include Control Bus, Digital Audio, Analog Audio, Lighting, USB, HDMI, and Speaker outputs, demonstrating a comprehensive AV setup.
