Getting Started (Batteries)
Thank you for choosing the ONN Universal Remote Control. This remote control can operate a wide range of electronic devices, works across most brands and models, and comes pre-programmed to operate many Samsung TVs. Your remote can control up to 6 devices and is remarkably easy to set up.
Installing the Batteries
To get started, please install two AA alkaline batteries (not included) as shown below:
- Remove the battery cover.
- Insert the batteries as shown.
- Snap the battery cover back into place.

- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
- Always remove old, weak, or worn-out batteries promptly and recycle or dispose of them in accordance with local and national regulations.
Low Battery Indicator
If while using the remote, the [red indicator light] flashes 3 times, this indicates the batteries need to be replaced. Please replace the batteries as soon as possible when this indication occurs.
Code Saver
When changing the batteries of your remote, please do so quickly. You have up to 20 minutes to change the batteries in your remote without losing the programmed codes.
Battery Saver
To conserve battery power, the remote will automatically turn off if any button is pressed for more than 60 seconds (except during programming). This feature is helpful in the event that the remote is stuck in a location where the buttons remain depressed, such as between sofa cushions.

Getting Started (Buttons)
This section describes the functions of the buttons on your ONN Universal Remote Control.
- POWER: Turns your device On/Off and also serves as an indicator when the remote is being programmed.
- INPUT: Switches between the sources connected to your TV.
- DEVICE CATEGORIES: Use these buttons (TV, SAT/CBL, AUDIO, B-RAY/DVD, STREAM, OTHER) to select the device you want to control.
- GUIDE: Use to access the guide of satellite and cable set-top boxes.
- PROGRAM: Use to put your remote in programming mode.
- APPS: Use to access your smart TV's apps (if supported).
- BACK: Return to the previous menu or screen.
- CUSTOM BUTTONS: Use to access device shortcuts for additional features or custom apps on your device (if supported). These are typically represented by colored buttons.
- INFO: Use to access on-screen content description and information.
- MENU: Accesses the device's menu.
- EXIT: Exits the current menu or function.
- VOLUME (+/-): Adjusts the volume.
- CHANNEL (+/-): Changes the channel.
- OK: Confirms selections or actions.
- NAVIGATION (Up/Down/Left/Right): Navigates menus and options.
- MUTE: Mutes the audio.
- FAV: Accesses favorite channels.
- PREV: Returns to the previous channel.
- DVR: Controls Digital Video Recorder functions.
- VIDEO PLAYBACK CONTROLS: Includes Play [ ], Pause [ ], Fast Forward [ ], Rewind [ ], Stop [ ].
- NUMBER KEYPAD: Enter channel numbers, codes, or other numerical input.
- ENTER: Confirms input or performs an action.
Programming Your Remote (Direct Code Entry)
Programming your remote is easy. Ensure the device you want to control is powered on before beginning.
Press and hold the [red indicator light] lights up red. The [red indicator light] remains on.
button until theSelect the device you want to program from the [red indicator light] blinks once and remains on.
(e.g., TV, SAT/CBL, AUDIO, B-RAY/DVD, STREAM, OTHER). TheEnter the 4-digit code from the included list for the category and brand of your device. The [red indicator light] shuts off if a valid code was entered. If the [red indicator light] flashes and remains on after entering four digits, an invalid code was entered. Check the list again and re-enter the code.
NOTE: Test the remote with the device to ensure all buttons work as expected. If some buttons/features do not work, try a different code from the list. Repeat this process for each device you wish to control.
The ONN universal remote comes pre-programmed to operate many Samsung TVs.
Programming Your Remote (Auto Code Search)
If the Direct Code Entry method did not work, you can try the Auto Code Search method.
- Power on the device you want to control.
- Press and hold the [red indicator light] lights up red. The [red indicator light] remains on. button until the
- Select a device from [red indicator light] blinks once and remains on. . The
- Point the remote at the device and press and hold the [red indicator light] will blink as codes are tested. button until the device turns off. The
- When the device turns off, immediately release the [red indicator light] will turn off. Test the remote. If buttons/features don't work, repeat the process or try Direct Code Entry. button to lock in the code. The
Device Category Descriptions:
- TV: TV, TV/DVD, and other TV combinations.
- SAT/CBL: Satellite, Cable, DVR, and other set-top boxes.
- AUDIO: Sound Bars, Audio Receivers, and other audio devices.
- B-RAY/DVD: Blu-ray Players and DVD Players.
- STREAM: Roku, Apple TV, Xbox, and other streaming media players.
- OTHER: VCRs, Digital Frames, and devices not found on the code list.
NOTE: This process may take over 10 minutes. If you accidentally release the
button, you can repeat steps 1-5 to resume the search. If no codes work, try Direct Code Entry.Favorite Channels
For easy access to up to 10 of your favorite channels:
- Select a device from [red indicator light] will blink once. that controls channels. The

NOTE: To change a stored favorite channel, repeat steps 1-6.
Volume Lock
This feature locks a device to the remote's volume control. For example, the remote can be in TV mode while the volume buttons control your sound bar.
Enabling Volume Lock:
- Press and hold the [red indicator light] lights up red and remains on. button until the
- Select a device from [red indicator light] blinks once and remains on. to lock to the remote's volume control. The

Disabling Volume Lock:

NOTE: On most newer HDMI-connected devices, the Volume Lock feature may be unnecessary as it is already built-in.
Channel Lock

Code Identification
To identify any of your programmed codes, follow these steps:
- Press and hold the [red indicator light] lights up red. The [red indicator light] remains on. button until the
- Select a device from [red indicator light] blinks once and remains on. for which you want the code. The

- Press the [red indicator light] flashes. This is the first digit of the code. If the button does not flash, the digit is 0. Repeat this process by pressing the , , and buttons for the remaining digits. button. Count the number of times the

Troubleshooting
The following tips can help you solve problems and answer questions you may have with your remote control. In general, always ensure:
- The remote is in the correct device category mode (TV, SAT/CBL, AUDIO, B-RAY/DVD, STREAM, OTHER) for the device you want to operate.
- The batteries are fresh and properly installed.
- There are no obstacles between the remote and the device, and you are aiming the remote at the device's IR sensor.
The remote can't be programmed to operate my device.
- If using Direct Code Entry did not work after trying all options, try the Auto Code Search method.
- To control combo devices (e.g., TV/VCRs or TV/DVDs), program the individual device buttons for each part of the combo unit.
Some of the buttons of the remote are not supported or working properly on my device.
- The programmed code might not be fully compatible with your device. Try selecting the next available code for your device's category and brand.
- Some buttons from your device's original remote may not be supported.
- You may have pressed an invalid button for the current device category mode.
The remote will not change the channels on my device.
- Ensure the remote is in the correct device category mode (TV, SAT/CBL, AUDIO, B-RAY/DVD, STREAM, OTHER) that controls channels.
- Try pressing the button after entering a channel number, as this is required for some TV and/or Cable/Satellite boxes.
The remote will not adjust the volume on my device.
- Ensure the remote is in the correct device category mode (TV, SAT/CBL, AUDIO, B-RAY/DVD, STREAM, OTHER) that controls volume.
My device's menu or app hub does not appear.
- Menu and app hub access is not supported for all brands. You may need to use your original remote control for these functions.
My remote's light is blinking
- If the indicator light flashes 3 times, the batteries need to be replaced.
