Alcohol Monitoring Quick Guide

Overview
Remote alcohol monitoring provides a black-and-white measure of a parent's sobriety at any given moment in time.
BACtrack View prompts co-parents to take breathalyzer tests using an appconnected device. They are randomly tested within a specified time period, on a schedule, or both to prove they have not consumed alcohol. Designated parties will receive real-time, video-verified results of each test.

Terms to Know

Key Considerations

Tester - the parent whose BAC level you wish to track.
Monitor - the main party reviewing the Tester's BAC results. This person sets testing schedules, can request on-demand tests, and receives BAC test results in real-time.

Accountability Partner a party reviewing the Tester's BAC results. This person receives BAC results in real-time but cannot set testing schedules or request ondemand tests.
Connection - a Monitor or Accountability Partner.

Questions to Ask
Who will pay for alcohol monitoring? Either a Monitor or a Tester can submit monthly payments to BACtrack View, but not both.
What happens in the event of a missed or positive (noncompliant) test?
What are the consequences and procedures? How often will BAC reports be submitted to court?
This will determine which plan you select. Who will become the Monitor on the account? Who else will receive results?
Will a co-parent or counsel become an Accountability Partner? Which testing schedule will best ensure the child's safety? For example: During visitation, a pickup, etc.

Before you get started with any alcohol monitoring service, there are key factors to consider.

Affordability

Affordable alcohol monitoring without hidden fees or long-term contracts - is far easier to maintain.

Accuracy

How accurate are the results? Are they stamped with key information such as test dates and times?

Method of proof

As proof of identity: Does a service only capture still photos... or record a video of the tester actually testing?

Customization Ease of use

Is the scheduling flexible to adapt to complex parenting time schedules? Can you set up scheduled AND random tests?
Is the breathalyzer tiny and discreet enough to be used anywhere? Are notifications automated/real-time?

Which testing schedule will best demonstrate a parent's commitment to sobriety? Will tests be scheduled, randomly-timed, or both?
Should the Tester be able to anticipate the exact time of a test or not? How many tests will the Tester submit per month? This will determine which plan you select.
