Diagram and Wiring Overview
The document provides a diagram illustrating the wiring of the Eco Battery 12 Volt Converter. It shows connections to a switched B+ power source or constant 12V power, a solenoid, a motor controller, and 12V devices such as lights and stereo.
Key Components in Diagram:
- 12 Volt Converter
- Battery Charger
- Battery (Lithium Deep Cycle)
- Motor Controller
- Solenoid
- 12V Devices (Lights, Stereo, Fuse Box Input)
Wiring Connections:
- Orange wire: Connect to a switched B+ power source (e.g., ON side of key switch) or directly to the positive terminal on the battery for constant 12V power.
- Positive terminal (B+): Connect to the positive terminal of the battery.
- Negative terminal (B-): Connect to the negative terminal of the battery.
- 12V Output (Red wire): Connect to the 12V accessory positive input wire.
- 12V Output (Black wire): Connect to the 12V accessory negative input wire.
- Input (Yellow wire): Connect to the positive terminal on the battery.
- Input (Black wire): Connect to the negative terminal on the battery.
Important Note on Ring Terminals: Ring terminals should be stacked largest to smallest, with the largest cable nearest the battery.
Installation Instructions
- Locate the Eco Battery 12 volt converter and wiring harness. Connect the harness to the converter using the white connector.
- Mount the Eco Battery 12 Volt Converter in a safe, dry location in the battery compartment.
- Determine where each wire in the harness needs to connect (refer to diagram) and loosely route the harness. Branch off the main harness if necessary, securing wires with electrical tape where they exit the sheathing.
- Secure the harness using zip ties or preferred method, starting from the converter and working towards the connections.
- Connect the positive 12 volt output wire (large, red wire) to the 12 volt accessory positive input wire.
- Connect the negative 12 volt output wire (large, black wire) to the 12 volt accessory negative input wire.
- Connect the Orange wire in the 12 volt converter harness to the key-on power source.
- Connect the main positive cable, positive charger cable, and the small yellow input wire (from the 12 volt harness) to the positive terminal on the battery.
- Connect the main negative cable, negative charger cable, and the small black input wire (from the 12 volt harness) to the negative terminal on the battery.
- Double-check all wiring for correctness before turning on the battery. If unsure, do not proceed and contact your dealer for assistance.
- Once installation is confirmed correct, press the power button once. A green indicator light signifies the battery is on and power is available at the terminals.
- Function check all systems, including the drive and 12 volt operations.
Note: The power button must be on for discharge and charge functions. For storage longer than 10 days, turn the battery off using the switch.
WARNING
- Working with lithium batteries can be dangerous. Use safety gear such as protective eyewear, insulated gloves, and insulated tools for safe installation.
- If you do not fully understand this guide or are not trained to work with lithium batteries, stop and seek professional installation.
- This guide is not intended to provide untrained individuals with sufficient knowledge to competently work with lithium batteries or electric vehicle systems.
- Damage to the battery, system components, or property due to incorrect or improper installation is not covered by the warranty. Do not short circuit or connect with reverse polarity; damage from improper connections is not covered by warranty.
- Inspect your new battery for any shipping damage. If visible damage is present, do not continue and contact your dealer or Eco Battery.
