For the XPointer Metal Detector Pinpointer
Device Description
The XPointer is an orange metal detector pinpointer. The following diagram illustrates its components:
- 1. Pinpoint tip
- The primary detection point.
- 2. 3" ruler
- Integrated measurement scale.
- 3. Side scan area
- Secondary detection area on the side.
- 4. LED-Light
- Indicator light for status and alerts.
- 5. Power button
- Used for turning the device on/off and adjusting sensitivity.
- 6. Tone/Vibration
- Button for switching between detection modes.
- 7. Speaker
- Emits audio signals for detection and alerts.
- 8. Battery cap
- Covers the battery compartment.
- 9. Anchor loop
- For attaching a lanyard or tether.
Operating Instructions
- Insert battery: Rotate the battery cap (8) counter-clockwise to open the battery compartment. Insert a new 9V battery, observing polarity.
- Power on/off: Press and hold the upper button (5) until you hear a sound. Two sounds and the LED-Light (4) indicate the pinpointer is ready to search.
- Metal detection signal: A metal object is signaled by increasing sound and vibration as the pinpoint tip (1) and side scan area (3) approach it.
- Switch modes: Switch between tone+vibration, tone-only, or vibration-only modes by pressing the lower button (6) multiple times.
- Adjust sensitivity: Change the sensitivity level by holding the lower button (6) and pressing the upper button (5) simultaneously. The sound indicates the current sensitivity level: 1 to 3 sounds correspond to sensitivity levels 1 to 3, and a permanent sound indicates level 4.
- Alerts: If the XPointer has not been used for 3 minutes or the battery runs low, an alarm tone will play.
- Maintenance: Keep the O-ring clean and greased.
