Machine Overview

The TGB 2228/8572 is a battery-powered scrubber dryer designed for efficient floor cleaning. Key components include:

Control Panel Overview

The control panel features the following key controls:

In the event of a breakdown, contact your Numatic dealer or the Numatic Technical helpline at +44 (0)1460 269268.

Machine Set-up Guide

PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENCING OPERATION. After unpacking, carefully check all contents.

TGB 2228/8572 Contents: 2 x Ignition Keys, 2 x 40 Amp Fuse (Battery), 1 x 30 Amp Fuse (Brush), 1 x 20 Amp Fuse (Vac), 1 x 2.5 Amp Fuse, Maxi Fuse-puller.

Initial Setup Steps:

  1. Lift the top tank assembly to access the battery compartment, using the provided handle grip.
  2. Fit the battery fuses into the designated fuse holders as illustrated.
  3. Insert the ignition key into the control panel and switch the machine on.
  4. Note: Wear suitable gloves when inserting fuses.
  5. Important: Ensure no metal objects contact battery terminals when batteries are exposed. A small spark may occur when inserting the first fuse, which is normal.
  6. To move the machine off its pallet, depress the control handle with both hands and slowly drive it forward. Once in a safe position, turn the key to 'OFF'. Ensure the product is secured during vehicular transport to prevent movement.

Fitting the Brush/Pad:

The TGB 8572 uses 2 x 370mm brushes or 2 x 360mm pads with the Nulock system. Push and twist the brush/pad to lock it into place under the brush deck.

Brush Deck Pitch Adjustment:

To correct a tendency for the machine to pull to one side, adjust the brush deck pitch knob. Turning clockwise applies left-hand bias (machine pulls left); turning counter-clockwise applies right-hand bias (machine pulls right).

Fitting the Floor Tool:

The floor tool is designed for quick fitting and features a safety knock-off mechanism. Fit the floor tool and secure it with the detent pin. Connect the vacuum hose to the floor tool, ensuring a tight fit. Note: Do not connect the vacuum hose with the floor tool in the raised position. Use the lifting handle at the rear of the machine to raise or lower the floor tool.

Fitting the Hose Guide:

A U-bend clip on the vacuum hose prevents water spillage when the vacuum is off. Ensure it is correctly refitted if removed.

Filling the Clean Water Tank:

Extend the hose from the rear of the machine. Open the stopper and fill the tank using a water tap or hose. Alternatively, unscrew the filler cap and use a bucket. Note: Prevent contaminants from entering the tank. Ensure any container used is clean.

Fill Level Indicator:

The clean water tank capacity is 85 litres, indicated by a scale on the rear of the machine. Always ensure the waste water tank is empty before lifting.

IMPORTANT: Do not operate the machine unless the Operator Manual has been read and fully understood. When handling chemicals, follow manufacturer's safety guidelines and use only recommended products.

Before cleaning, place warning signs (e.g., 'WET FLOOR') and sweep the area.

Machine Operation

Raising/Lowering the Floor Tool:

Ensure the brush deck is lowered. Move the floor tool lever to its lower position. Note: Do not drive the machine backward with the floor tool lowered to avoid damage.

Raising/Lowering the Brush Deck:

Use the lever located at the rear right of the machine. Move the left-hand release lever to the upper position to lower the brush deck.

Setting the Cleaning Controls:

  1. Insert the key and turn to position '1' to power on. The traction status light will illuminate.
  2. Set the traction speed using control (1) according to floor type and soiling. Middle speed is generally optimal.
  3. Adjust the water flow rate using control (3).

The machine has an electronic braking system; releasing the trigger stops the machine. In an emergency, press the Emergency Stop button (4). To reset, turn the Emergency Stop button clockwise, then cycle the ignition key from '0' to '1' to restart.

Brush Pressure / Load Adjustment:

The brush load lever adjusts pressure for tougher cleaning. Options include Standard Duty (13 Kg), Heavy Duty (28 Kg), and Extra Heavy Duty (50 Kg). Note: This feature is for spot cleaning only, as it can reduce run-time.

Break-away Floor Tool:

The floor tool is designed to disengage if it snags on an obstruction. To re-attach, loosen retaining knobs, slide onto the bracket, and tighten.

ALWAYS ENSURE THE FLOOR IS PRE-SWEPT AND RELEVANT SAFETY SIGNS ARE DISPLAYED.

Machine In Use:

To operate: set water flow, lower brush deck, lower floor tool, press vacuum switch, and pull brush On/Off trigger. Adjust speed as needed. Overlap scrubbing paths by 10cm for an even clean. Avoid operating on inclines exceeding 6% when full. On ramps, avoid sudden stops/turns and use low speed. Clean only while descending ramps. For heavily soiled floors, use a 'double scrub' technique: pre-scrub with the floor tool raised, allow chemical to work, then scrub again with the floor tool lowered. Clean floor tool blades if streaking occurs.

Regular Maintenance

ALWAYS ENSURE THE MACHINE IS SWITCHED OFF AND THE KEY REMOVED BEFORE ANY MAINTENANCE.

After Use:

Cleaning:

Changing the Floor Tool Blades

Ensure the machine is switched off before maintenance.

To clean the floor tool, remove the securing pin and pull it free. Rinse the assembly with clean water and refit.

Periodically inspect floor tool blades for wear. To replace blades, remove the four retaining pins, turn the floor tool over, separate the blade carrier, peel away the old blades, and fit new ones. Replacement is the reverse of removal.

Floor Tool Overview:

Note: Blades are reversible to extend their working life.

Machine Charging

Ensure the machine is switched off before charging.

The battery meter indicates charge level. All lights are illuminated when fully charged. Lights extinguish from right to left as the battery discharges. If only the red light remains, charging is required. If the second light from the end flashes, take the machine to a charging point.

The onboard charger automatically monitors and stops charging when batteries are full. Connect the appropriate charging lead to the machine's charging point (rear, under the control panel). Connect to a power supply. The red charging indicator will light up. For a full charge, allow 8-10 hours. Disconnect the lead after charging.

Battery Care:

To ensure maximum efficiency and prolong battery life:

Charging Light Sequence

Signal (LED)Meaning
Red LED onFirst Phase (constant current Mode).
Orange LED onSecond Phase (Constant Voltage Mode).
Green LED onThird Phase (Constant Voltage Mode) Charge Complete.
Red LED flashing followed by PauseCooling Fan Locked (> 1 flash), Over Voltage Protection / Output Short Circuit / Battery Reverse Polarity (> 2 flashes), Over Temperature Protection (> 3 flashes), Charge Time Exceeded 10 hrs (> 4 flashes).

Note: Recharge fully after last use. Do not leave the machine discharged.

Under Abnormal Use: If the machine is left unused for a period, fully charge batteries and remove battery fuses before storage. Recharge batteries every three months. Charge fully the day before reuse.

Free Wheel Function

The machine has a free-wheel function for manual movement. The motor brake is located on the right side near the rear wheel. Pull the arm out and swing it to the disengaged position to enable free wheel mode.

ALWAYS ENSURE THE MACHINE IS ON LEVEL GROUND BEFORE DISENGAGING THE BRAKE ARM. NEVER DISENGAGE THE BRAKE ON A SLOPE.

Note: Drive functions are disabled in free-wheel mode. Re-engage the brake before using the machine.
