Replacing the Dustbag, S-BAG®

Replace the s-bag when:

  • P* Models (rotary knob): S-BAG indicator lights up red.
  • Q* Models (remote control): S-BAG symbol lights up red.
  • R* Models (remote control and AUTO): S-BAG indicator lights up red (green light indicates the bag is OK; yellow light indicates it's time to replace the bag soon).

Note: Always change the s-bag when the S-BAG indicator is illuminated or shows red, even if the bag is not full (it might be blocked), and after using carpet cleaning powder. For best performance, use the Ultra Long Performance bag. Other synthetic s-bags can be used, but do not use paper dust bags. Visit www.s-bag.com for more information.

  1. Pull the S-BAG button to open the dust compartment. The handle of the s-bag holder will lift up. Pull the handle to remove the s-bag with its holder. Do not press the release button.
  2. Hold the s-bag with holder over a dust bin. Press the button to release the s-bag. Insert a new s-bag into the holder by sliding the cardboard/plastic part at the back of the holder into place.
  3. Insert the s-bag with holder by pushing it straight down into its tracks. Ensure the s-bag is not caught under the holder. Close the lid. If the s-bag is not properly placed or is missing, the lid will not close.
  4. Note: When you start the cleaner after replacing the s-bag, it takes about 10 seconds for the S-BAG indicator to turn off (P* and Q* models) or turn green (R* models).

Replacing the Filters

Replace or clean the filter when:

  • P* Models (rotary knob): After changing the s-bag 5 times.
  • Q* Models (remote control): The FILTER symbol lights up red.
  • R* Models (remote control and AUTO): The filter indicator lights up red (green light means the filter is OK; it briefly lights up when the vacuum starts).
  1. Pull the FILTER button to open the filter lid. Use original s-filters. Remove the filter and check the reference on the frame to identify its type. Replace with a new filter or clean the old one (**for washable filters only). Rinse the inside (dirty side) under lukewarm tap water. Tap the filter frame to remove excess water. Repeat this process four times.
  2. Note: Do not use cleaning agents. Avoid touching the filter surface. Let the filter dry completely (at least 24 hours at room temperature) before reinserting. Washable filters should be replaced at least once a year or when very dirty or damaged. Do not remove the L-shaped foam piece under the filter.
  3. After replacing the filter, close the filter lid until it clicks into place. If the lid comes off, align the hinges at the bottom and push the lid until it clicks back into place.
  4. Note: When you start the cleaner after filter replacement, it takes about 10 seconds for the FILTER indicator to turn green (models with remote control and AUTO) or turn off (remote control models).
  5. Replace the motor filter when it becomes dirty or after every 5th s-bag change. Push down the filter holder and pull it out. Exchange the filter and close the lid.

Troubleshooting

Problem: The vacuum cleaner does not start

Solution: Check that the cable is connected to the mains. Check that the plug and cable are not damaged. Check for a blown fuse. Check if the battery indicator lamp in the remote control handle responds (certain models only).

Problem: The s-bag® indicator light is illuminated

Solution: Check if the s-bag® is full or blocked. If you have already changed the s-bag®, change the motor filter.

Problem: The filter indicator light is illuminated (only at specific models)

Solution: Change, or wash (if washable), the exhaust filter.

Problem: The cleaner stops

Solution: The cleaner might be overheated: disconnect it from the mains; check if the nozzle, tube, hose, or filters are blocked. Let the cleaner cool down for 30 minutes before plugging it in again. If the cleaner still does not work, contact an authorized Electrolux service centre.

Problem: Reduction of suction capacity versus normal

Solution: Check if the s-bag is full or blocked. Check if the motor filter is clogged and needs changing. Check if the nozzle is blocked and needs to be cleared. Check if the hose is blocked by squeezing it gently. However, be careful in case the obstruction was caused by glass or needles caught inside the hose. Note: Warranty does not cover damage to the hose caused by cleaning it.

Problem: Water has been sucked into the vacuum cleaner

Solution: The motor will need to be replaced at an authorized Electrolux service centre. Motor damage caused by water penetration is not covered by the warranty. For any further problems, contact an authorized Electrolux service centre.
