Before Using This Product

Warning: Failure to follow the precautions below may result in death or serious injury.

This product should be used according to the following precautions. Using the product in ways not described in this manual may lead to injury or damage to the product.

The following classifications describe the degree of harm that may occur if the precautions are not followed:

Warnings

• Do not disassemble or modify the product. This may cause damage to the product, injury, or fire.
• Do not subject the product to excessive impact, such as dropping it from a high place.
• Do not apply pressure or puncture with sharp objects.
• Do not use or store in extremely hot or cold environments. Use the product within an ambient temperature range of 10°C to 40°C.
• Do not use or store near heat sources such as heaters, lit candles, or microwave ovens.
• Do not leave the product in a hot location or cover it with cloth.
• Do not touch the product with wet hands or wet it with water. Do not spill food or liquids on the product.
• Do not use or store in humid locations or places with water, such as bathtubs, sinks, swimming pools, or basements.
• Keep hands, fingers, and exposed skin away from the moving parts of the product. There is a risk of injury if hands, fingers, or skin get caught between the product and its parts.
• Children, individuals with mental or physical disabilities, or those with limited knowledge or experience should use this product under the supervision of someone who can instruct and explain how to use it safely (Recommended age: 6 years and older).
• Do not use near infants.
• Use a USB charger with a 5V=3A output (sold separately) for charging. Charge within an ambient temperature range of 10°C to 40°C.
• If the product is not used for a long period, charge it once every 6 months to prevent battery degradation.
• Do not use a damaged charger or cable.
• Unplug the charger when not in use for extended periods.
• If the product becomes excessively hot during use or charging, turn it off by pressing and holding the power button on the back of the neck for 3 seconds, and unplug the charger from the outlet.
• Handle the included USB cable with care: Do not pull, pinch with objects, scratch, or damage it. Do not place heavy objects on it.
• Do not allow metal or conductive foreign objects to come into contact with the connection terminals. This may cause fire or electric shock.
• If the product or charging station is dirty with fine dust or debris, gently wipe it with a dry, soft cloth. Dust or foreign matter entering the joints may lead to fire.
• If the product is not used or stored properly, electrolyte may leak from the battery. If electrolyte leaks, do not touch it with your hands. If you come into contact with electrolyte, wash immediately with water and seek medical attention if you experience any physical discomfort. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse immediately with running water and seek medical attention. Leaked electrolyte from the battery can cause inflammation or burns on the skin.
• If you have an implanted medical device (such as a heart pacemaker), maintain a safe distance between the product and the medical device. If you experience any physical discomfort, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist.
• This product uses a lithium-ion battery. When disposing of this product, follow the rules of your local municipality.

Cautions

• Do not lift or swing the product by its ears or legs. Do not forcibly pull or twist these parts. Moving the movable parts beyond their limits may cause parts to break and lead to physical damage.
• Do not use on carpets with long pile or outdoors. This may cause the product to get tangled and damage the carpet. Also, using it on hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt, or on grass, may cause scratches, allow water or foreign matter to enter, and lead to product malfunction.
• Using the product on hard floors such as flooring or tiles may cause noise to echo. It is recommended to use it on carpets or rugs.
• Do not use in locations with uneven surfaces, steps, or vibrations that could cause the product to fall or tip over. This may lead to damage or malfunction.
• Do not use in areas with fragile items, hazardous materials, or furniture that could be damaged by contact. As the product moves freely, it may cause damage to household items or accidents.

Recommended age for this product: 6 years and older

Recommended usage environment: Areas with sufficient space for Loona to move freely. In confined spaces, Loona may not be able to move freely. Please use in a location with ample space.

About Loona

Loona is a cute pet robot with a personality like a real animal. It loves to play with and spend time with its family, bringing smiles to everyone. With over 1000 expressions, it communicates its feelings to its owner.

Additionally, you can use the Loona app remotely to monitor your family and room through the camera installed on Loona, and also control its movements.

Loona is equipped with AI recognition functions, enabling it to recognize faces, detect people, recognize gestures, and identify object shapes. Furthermore, it can avoid large obstacles in its surroundings and adjust its path using its built-in camera. It can also recognize and track objects and moving bodies.

Initial Setup

Starting Loona

Press and hold the power button on the back of Loona's neck for 3 seconds. To turn off the power, press and hold for another 3 seconds. If you cannot turn the power on/off, press and hold the button for 10 seconds for a forced shutdown.

Connecting the Loona App

Download the Loona app from the App Store (iOS devices) or Google Play (Android devices) and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi connection is required for voice recognition, remote operation, and software updates.

1. Press and hold the power button for 7 seconds to display a QR code on the screen.
2. Scan the QR code with your smartphone and follow the app's instructions to connect to Wi-Fi.

Note: If Wi-Fi connection fails, please refer to the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of this manual.

Charging Method

Charging Precautions:

• Charge within an ambient temperature range of 10°C to 40°C.
• If the battery is at 0%, it takes approximately 2.5 hours to fully charge using a 5V=3A charger (this may take longer if the product has not been used for a long time).
• If not used for an extended period, charge once every 6 months to prevent battery degradation.

1. Connect the included USB-C & USB-A cable to a USB charger with a 5V=3A output (sold separately).
2. Connect the USB-C end of the cable to the USB port on the back of Loona and plug the charger into the outlet.

Note: You cannot play with Loona while it is charging. You can also charge Loona using the charging station. When using the charging station, follow the instructions in the user manual included with the charging station.

What Loona Can Do

The product's temperature may rise during use or charging due to the operation of internal electrical circuits or charging current; this is not a malfunction. The degree of temperature rise varies depending on the amount of activity, but if the product or charger becomes excessively hot, turn it off by pressing and holding the power button on the back of the neck for 3 seconds and unplug the charger from the outlet. The product may automatically shut down to prevent damage if it becomes very hot.

Obstacle Detection

When Loona detects obstacles around it, it avoids them and moves. However, please note that the camera may not function properly in direct sunlight, such as near a window during the day.

Objects that are difficult to detect: Reflective or transparent objects like mirrors and glass, black objects (black blankets, black mats, etc.), thin furniture legs, and small objects.

AI Recognition

This product can perform object detection, face recognition, human detection, and gesture recognition. This allows Loona to chase a ball, follow people, and interact in a fun way.

Voice Recognition

Say "Hello, Loona" to get Loona's attention, and then speak voice commands. Loona understands and acts on your commands. Equipped with Amazon Lex™, it understands and acts on voice commands while securely protecting your information. All voice commands can be confirmed in the app.

Note: Voice commands and interactive content will continue to be updated. It is recommended to call out to Loona from about 2 meters away.

Remote Control

Equipped with Amazon Kinesis Video Streams™ (KVS), you can connect to Loona's camera using the Loona app. You can control Loona remotely and see what's happening in your room through the Loona app.

Touch Sensor

Loona is equipped with a touch sensor on its head. When you touch its head, Loona reacts and expresses its feelings through movement and expressions. Its ears also react to gentle touches.

Care Instructions

If the product or charging station is dirty with fine dust or debris, gently wipe it with a dry, soft cloth.

Keep the camera on Loona free from scratches, dust, and fingerprints. Scratches, dust, or fingerprints on the camera can reduce its detection capabilities. Blow away fine dust with an air duster and wipe off dirt with a soft cloth.

Keep it clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set up Loona's network connection?

1. Download the dedicated app from the app download page, install it on your smartphone, create an account, and log in.
2. With Loona's power on, press and hold the power button for 7 seconds to display a QR code on the screen.
3. Tap the [Set up Loona's Wi-Fi] button in the upper right corner of the app's home screen. If you cannot find the button, select [Settings] > [Account] from the profile icon in the upper left corner of the home screen.
4. Tap [Loona Wi-Fi Setup] > [Display QR Code], and scan the QR code displayed on Loona's screen with your smartphone.
5. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to, enter the password, and tap [Next].
6. If you are using an Android device, switch your Wi-Fi connection from your smartphone's system settings to one that starts with "Loona...". After switching, return to the app, and it will automatically proceed to the next step.
7. Wait for Loona to connect to the network and successfully sync with your account. The app will automatically connect to Loona.

Note: Loona supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks.

What should I do if the Wi-Fi connection fails?

Turn off the power by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds, then turn it back on by pressing and holding for another 3 seconds. Then, press and hold the power button for 7 seconds to reconfigure the network.

Note: When using an Android device, it is recommended to turn off mobile data during network setup until the connection is successful.

What should I do if the app displays "Loona not found"?

Check the current status of Loona:

• Sleep Mode: To conserve battery, Loona automatically disconnects from the network in sleep mode. Press the power button to wake Loona and reconnect to Wi-Fi (reconnection may take time. Wait about 30 seconds before tapping the [Connect Loona] button).
• Power Off: Loona will automatically connect to Wi-Fi when powered on. If it does not connect automatically, wait about 30 seconds and then tap the [Connect Loona] button.
• Immediately after startup: Loona automatically connects to Wi-Fi after startup, but this process takes time. Wait about 30 seconds and then tap the [Connect Loona] button.
• Unstable Wi-Fi Network: Tap [Settings] > [Account] > [Set up Loona's Wi-Fi] from the profile icon in the upper left corner of the home screen to reconfigure Wi-Fi.

What should I do if Loona cannot sync account information after connecting to Wi-Fi?

Try connecting again. Once you reach the step "Connect Loona to the network and sync account information," check the messages displayed on Loona's screen.

• If "Wi-Fi password is incorrect" is displayed and it returns to the QR code screen after 3 seconds: Please enter the correct Wi-Fi password.
• If "Failed" is displayed and it returns to the QR code screen after 3 seconds: Check if the number of connected devices to your Wi-Fi router has reached its limit, or if a whitelist is set on your Wi-Fi router.
• If "Failed to access server" or "Timeout" is displayed and it returns to the QR code screen after 3 seconds: Access to the server has failed due to reasons such as an unstable network. Check the network status of your home Wi-Fi router and try connecting again using a different router or smartphone tethering.
• If Loona proceeds to the next step normally (Loona's screen displays eyes or enters update processing): This means Loona has successfully connected to Wi-Fi. Go to [Settings] > [Loona] to confirm it is connected properly.

12-month warranty

For 12 months from the date of order (Note), if any issues arise that appear to be defects in the product during use, we will provide replacements with the same product, repair services, or other appropriate measures as determined by our company after confirming the issue as a defect. Shipping costs for such cases will be borne by our company.

(Note: Excluding pre-orders. For pre-orders, the period will be calculated from the shipping date.)

However, if we are unable to provide a replacement with the same product or repair services due to reasons such as stockouts or discontinuation of sales, we may replace it with a successor product of equivalent value, or refund the product price through the system. Please be aware of this in advance. Furthermore, defects caused by customer negligence are not covered by this warranty.
