Electric flow heaters of the MX series heat water immediately after turning the hot water valve. They do not include a water storage tank and therefore heat water continuously. The main advantage of MX series heaters is their ability to work in the harshest conditions (low water pressure, frequent system aeration). The electronic control unit provides defect-free switching, evaluating the state of the magnetic water flow sensor. They operate reliably from a minimum water pressure of 0.04 MPa. The heaters can also operate when connected to the water system at full water pressure up to 0.6 MPa. These parameters allow for a wide range of uses.
The MX model series includes a heating option (winter/summer mode) selectable by manual performance switching.
Provided technical conditions (defined water pressure and electrical connection) are met, the manufacturer is responsible for the defined heater parameters (see the table with technical data).
CAUTION: Connecting to multiple outlets and using warm water simultaneously from several water points will reduce the temperature of the outgoing water. The distance of the consumption points from the heater should not exceed 2 meters to prevent unnecessary thermal and performance losses.
Assembly Instructions
In water main system
- Install the heater using flexible hoses into the water main system. Ensure correct connection. The marking on the heater flange indicates: O-ring for cold water (inlet) is blue, and for warm water (outlet) is red.
- De-aerate the water heater by opening the warm water valve on the water main battery (red) for approximately 2 minutes. Deaeration is complete when water flows continuously through the water main battery.
- Connect the electrical cable to the electrical water line according to the respective EN standards. Assembly is now complete.
Instruction Manual
Operating the electric flow heater is very simple. Opening the hot water valve (marked red) on the combination faucet automatically activates the heating. The heating is indicated by a red light on the front cover of the heater. Closing the hot water valve automatically deactivates heating, the red indicator lights go off, and electricity consumption stops.
Simple manual switching of the heating spiral performance allows for optimal outlet water temperature during use with sink and shower faucets. Showering requires a higher demand for warm water, during which the heater operates at full power. Two performance levels are applicable during year-round operation, especially in winter when the inlet water is colder.
When the control light is on, water heating is at its strongest. With increasing water flow, the temperature drops proportionally. Each heater is set to heat water by 43°C (minimum permitted tolerance is 3°C) at the minimum switching flow (when the control lights are on). Example: 10°C inlet water temperature will be heated to 53°C ± 3°C when the control lights are on.
CAUTION: The manufacturer is not liable for the stability of the electric network. In case of fluctuations, contact the respective branch of power plants! Voltage fluctuations between 180V and 240V will not damage the heater. They will only affect performance; for example, a 5% voltage drop reduces heater performance by 10% and consequently reduces the heated water temperature.
Safety Instructions of the Manufacturer
- Product assembly and commissioning must be performed by a professional company! Unprofessional assembly is not permitted!
- The manufacturer is not responsible for defects caused by unprofessional assembly or mechanical damage (natural disasters, vandalism, etc.) occurring after the product sale.
- During commissioning, observe the instructions in the assembly and operating manual.
- All repair works must be performed by an employee from an authorized service.
- After removing the heater cover, there is a risk of injury from electric current!
- Do not touch live parts!
- If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized service according to the respective EN standards to prevent any risk.
- The product must be located according to the respective EN safety standards.
- The product must be connected via a residual current device (RCD) with a residual current not exceeding 30 mA.
- The product must be protected with fast disconnection from the electrical network.
- The product is classified as requiring workshop repairs.
Important Notices Prior to Assembly
- De-aerate the heater before connecting it to the electrical network by opening the hot water valve for approximately 2 minutes. This prevents damage to the heating spiral.
- Burning the heating spiral due to insufficient deaeration is not covered by warranty repairs.
- After any aeration of the water pipes (during water shutdown, maintenance), it is necessary to disconnect the heater from the electrical network and de-aerate it!
- The heater can only be installed with the outlets facing downwards!
- The manufacturer recommends installing a water softener (mechanical, electrical, or magnetic) before the heater.
- The manufacturer is not responsible for malfunctions caused by limescale or mechanical contamination in the water.
- The manufacturer recommends installing a filter for mechanical contamination in the water.
- The manufacturer recommends regular cleaning of the inlet filtration screen on the heater flange.
- Protect the heater from freezing to prevent damage.
- In case of freezing, do not commission the heater, as this will prevent the burning of the heating spiral.
- Dynamic water pressure must comply with the values specified in the parameter table.
- The water heater must be connected to the safety earthing according to local EN standards.
- The water heater must be connected to a current protector with a residual current of max. 30mA, according to EN standards.
- The minimum water resistance at 15°C must not be below 1300Ωcm, according to the respective EN standards.
- The manufacturer is not liable for the stability of the electric network. In case of fluctuations, contact the respective branch of power plants! (Voltage fluctuations between 180V and 240V will not damage the heater. They will only affect performance; for example, a 5% voltage drop reduces heater performance by 10%).
- The maximum water pressure load is 6 bar (0.6 MPa).
- The heater is designed for direct connection to the water main.
- Direct connection to the system must include protection of the heater with a safety valve up to 0.6 MPa.
- The manufacturer recommends securing the cold water supply to the heater with a valve, which allows the heater to be shut off from full water pressure in case of longer shutdown (exceeding 2 days).
- Electrical installation must comply with and meet the requirements and regulations relevant in the country of use.
CAUTION: If water flow fluctuates, causing the heated water temperature to fluctuate, it may be caused by domestic pumping units and the pressure difference between switching off and on the expansion vessel pressurization. This problem can be resolved by a regulation valve (e.g., Honeywell D04-1 / 2A) installed at the outlet of the pumping unit, which ensures constant pressure and flow.
Performance Switching
Pressing the button allows switching the heater performance. The following indicates the status:
- First performance level: Heater is on, first performance level engaged.
- Both performance levels: Heater is on, both performance levels engaged.
Light Signalization
- Heater is off: No lights are on.
- Heater is on. State without defect: Red light is on.
- Heater does not heat. Active protection against spiral overheating engaged: Red light is on, but the heater does not heat.
- Heater is on. Heating is very limited, voltage below 202V: Red light is on, heating is significantly reduced, voltage is below 202V.
- Heater is on. Heating is limited, voltage below 218V: Red light is on, heating is reduced, voltage is below 218V.
- Heater does not heat. Active protection against spiral overheating engaged. Voltage below 218V: Red light is on, but the heater does not heat due to active protection against spiral overheating, and the voltage is below 218V.
