Product Overview and Features

The Bosch PTK 3,6 LI is a cordless tacker designed for fastening various materials to soft structural surfaces.

Charging the Battery

Figure A illustrates the battery charging process:

Insert the charger plug (8) into the socket (4) on the rear side of the handle. Plug the mains plug of the battery charger into a socket outlet.

Loading the Magazine

Figure B illustrates how to load the magazine:

1. Turn the power tool around.
2. Press the release buttons (6) and pull out the magazine (10) towards the rear.
3. Insert the staple strip (9) into the magazine.
4. Reinsert the magazine (10) until it engages.

Do not use excessive force when opening, loading, or inserting the magazine.

Electrical Safety

• Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
• Do not abuse the cord. Keep cords away from heat, oil, sharp edges, and moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
• When operating outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
• If operating in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply.

Personal Safety

• Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not operate when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
• Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection can reduce personal injuries.
• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power or battery, or picking up/carrying the tool.
• Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on.
• Do not overreach. Maintain proper footing and balance at all times.
• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
• If dust extraction and collection facilities are provided, ensure they are connected and properly used.

Power Tool Use and Care

• Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application.
• Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.
• Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or battery pack before making adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.
• Store idle power tools out of reach of children. Do not allow untrained persons to operate the tool.
• Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment, binding, or breakage of parts. Have damaged tools repaired before use.
• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.

Battery Tool Use and Care

• Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer.
• Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.
• When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from metal objects that could short the terminals.
• Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact occurs, flush with water. Seek medical help if liquid contacts eyes.

Service

Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts.

Safety Warnings for Cordless Tackers

• Always assume the tool contains fasteners. Careless handling can result in unexpected firing and injury.
• Do not point the tool towards yourself or anyone nearby.
• Do not actuate the tool unless it is placed firmly against the workpiece.
• Disconnect the tool from the power source when a fastener jams.
• Use caution when removing a jammed fastener, as the mechanism may be under compression.
• Do not use this tacker for fastening electrical cables, as it may damage insulation and cause shock or fire hazards.

• Protect the power tool against heat, fire, water, and moisture.
• In case of damage or improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. Provide for fresh air and seek medical help if complaints arise.

• Keep the battery charger away from rain or moisture.
• Only charge Bosch lithium-ion batteries or batteries installed in Bosch products with the specified voltages.
• Keep the battery charger clean.
• Before each use, check the battery charger, cable, and plug for damage. Never open the charger yourself; have repairs performed by a qualified technician.
• Supervise children.

The power tool is intended for tacking fabrics, leather, cardboard, foils, insulation material, and other materials to soft structural surfaces, such as wood or wood-like materials. It is not suitable for fastening wall or ceiling panelling.

Technical Data

Noise/Vibration Information

Measured sound values determined according to EN 60745.

Typically, the A-weighted sound pressure level of the product is 76 dB(A). Uncertainty K = 3 dB. The noise level when working can exceed 80 dB(A).

? Wear hearing protection!

Vibration total values a<0xE2><0x82><0x95> and uncertainty K determined according to EN 60745: a<0xE2><0x82><0x95><2.5 m/s², K = 1.5 m/s².

The vibration emission level has been measured in accordance with a standardised test and may be used to compare tools. It may be used for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The declared level represents main applications; however, different applications, accessories, or poor maintenance may alter the emission level.

Consider times when the tool is switched off or running idle when estimating exposure levels.

Assembly

Battery Charging

The battery is supplied partially charged. To ensure full capacity, charge it completely (at least 3–5 hours) before first use. The Lithium-Ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life.

The "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)" protects the battery against deep discharging. The power tool switches off automatically when the battery is discharged.

⚠️ WARNING: After the automatic shut-off of the power tool, do not continue to press the trigger. The battery could become damaged.

New batteries or batteries not used for a long period may require up to 5 charging/discharging cycles to reach full capacity.

When the battery charge-control indicator (2) lights up red during operation, the battery capacity is below 30% and should be charged.

Connect the charger plug (8) to socket (4) and the charger's mains plug to a socket outlet. The indicator (2) flashes green during charging and is solid green when fully charged.

Note: The power tool cannot be used during charging. The handle may warm up during charging, which is normal.

Disconnect the battery charger from the mains supply when not in use for extended periods. Protect the battery charger against moisture.

Operation

Starting Operation

Place the tacker head (1) firmly against the workpiece until it is pushed in a few millimeters. Briefly press the trigger (5) and then release it.

The trigger lock prevents unintentional shot actuation.

Working Advice

• This machine is not suitable for working with 19 mm staples or for fastening ceiling panelling with profiled wood or grooves.
• When a staple jams, do not hold the machine by the trigger.
• Avoid blank shots to reduce wear on the impact striker.
• Apply the tacker head carefully to the material to avoid damaging soft workpieces.

Always keep the machine clean for safe and proper working.

If the machine fails, repair should be carried out by an after-sales service centre using identical replacement parts. Always include the 10-digit article number in correspondence and spare parts orders.

Transport

Lithium-ion batteries are subject to Dangerous Goods Legislation. Users can transport batteries by road without further requirements. For third-party transport (e.g., air transport), special requirements on packaging and labelling must be observed. Consult an expert for hazardous material preparation.

Disposal

The machine, rechargeable batteries, accessories, and packaging should be sorted for environmental-friendly recycling.
