Product Overview and Dimensions
The Dometic RTX1000 and RTX2000 are universal air conditioning units designed for trucks. The installation requires a roof opening with specific dimensions. The unit has an external height of 175-197 mm and requires clearance of at least 100 mm on the sides and front/rear for proper ventilation and installation.
Key Dimensions:
- External Width: 315 mm
- External Depth: 330 mm
- External Height: 175-197 mm
- Roof Opening Length: 860 mm
- Roof Opening Width: 400 mm
- Recommended clearance around the unit: ≥ 100 mm
The unit is designed to be installed on vehicle roofs with a maximum height of 4 meters.
Installation Procedure
The installation involves several steps, including preparing the roof opening, mounting the internal and external parts of the unit, and connecting the electrical supply.
Step 1: Prepare the Roof Opening
Mark and cut the roof opening according to the specified dimensions (400 mm x 860 mm). Ensure the edges are clean and smooth. A template or guide may be used for accurate cutting. The diagram shows a circular cutout of 50 mm diameter, with 25 mm margins from the edges.
Step 2: Mount the Internal Frame
The internal frame is secured to the roof from the inside. This involves positioning the frame and fastening it using screws and nuts. The diagram shows the frame being placed and secured with screws (item 2) and nuts (item 1).
Step 3: Prepare the External Unit
The external unit needs to be prepared for mounting. This may involve cleaning or applying sealant to ensure a watertight seal.
Step 4: Mount the External Unit
The external unit is placed onto the prepared roof opening and secured to the internal frame. The diagram shows the unit being lowered into place and aligned with the opening. Specific fasteners (screws and brackets) are used for this step.
Step 5: Secure the Unit
The unit is firmly attached using screws and nuts. The diagram indicates specific torque values for tightening the screws: 10 Nm for some fasteners and 8 Nm for others. The diagram shows the use of M8 screws (item 1) and M6 screws (item 7) with corresponding washers.
Step 6: Electrical Connections
Connect the unit to the vehicle's 12V power supply. The diagram shows the wiring harness being connected to the battery terminals. Ensure the connection is made within 0.3 meters of the battery. A fuse or circuit breaker should be used for protection. The SKU for the wiring harness is 9620001663.
Step 7: Final Assembly and Sealing
Ensure all parts are correctly assembled and secured. Apply sealant around the edges of the external unit to prevent water ingress. The diagram shows the final placement of the cover and securing of the unit.
Step 8: Mounting Brackets and Dimensions
The installation utilizes mounting brackets and specific fasteners. The diagrams detail the use of M8 bolts (item 3, 6) and M8 x L1 bolts (item 7), with washers (item 4, 5). The length L1 is defined as x + 5 to 9 mm. Similarly, L2 is x + 23 to 27 mm, and L3 is x + 9 mm, used with M6 bolts (item 10, 11).
The diagrams also show specific dimensions for positioning the unit and its components, such as 235 mm, 265 mm, 400 mm, and 500 mm, indicating precise placement requirements.
Control Panel Overview
The control panel features a digital display showing temperature (Celsius or Fahrenheit), operating mode (AUTO, ECO, BOOST, MANUAL), fan speed, and error indicators. Buttons include power (on/off), menu selection, and temperature adjustment (up/down).
