Vehicle for Wiring Loom: LEXUS AL10 RX350 / RX450H (DECEMBER ‘08 ONWARDS)
Please ensure that all instructions are understood prior to fitment. Place these instructions in the vehicle's glovebox after installation is completed.
Towbar Installation
Installation Time: Approx 45 Mins
Towbar Capacity:
- Max Towing Braked: 1500 kg
- Max Static Ball Load: 150 kg
Warning:
- Do not, drill, cut, weld or otherwise modify the towbar.
- If using electric welding on a motor vehicle, check that the vehicle is not equipped with electronic engine or instrument management equipment. Failure to do so could destroy onboard computers. Consult the vehicle manufacturer if in doubt.
General Advice:
- Ensure all hardware items are included as per the assembly diagram.
- Read and understand all instructions before fitting.
- Be aware of vehicle design changes or other accessories that may conflict with installation.
- Before drilling, ensure the area is clear of fuel, electrical, and other components.
- Coat all drilled holes in body panels with a suitable rust preventative paint.
- Use only high tensile fasteners of the same rating and quality as supplied. Contact an authorized Hayman Reese dealer for replacements.
- Fasten all hardware to the specified torque list and check regularly.
- The load rating sticker must be placed on the inside rear end of the driver's door.
- Check your tow ball complies with Australian standards AS 4177.2.
- Remove the lug or TBM when not towing to improve visibility and departure angle.
- Pull Pin must be in the down position.
Towbar Maintenance and Care:
- Routinely inspect and check bolt torques for correct tension. Replace worn or defective parts.
- Remove Tow Ball Mounts (TBM's, tongues or lugs) when not in use.
- Store tongues, Pull Pins, and R-clips in a safe, clean, dry place away from moisture.
- Regularly check Hitch Pull Pins and spring "R" clips for proper installation. Replace worn or defective parts.

For towing capacity details, refer to the vehicle owner's manual or the manufacturer. Overloading can void your warranties.
Installation Steps (Towbar):
- Remove the Mud Guard by removing 3x Bolts from either side.
- Remove the Bumper Cover by removing 4x Set Screws, 2x Bolts from behind the bumper cover; 3x Clips (1 from behind the Mud Guard on the Passenger Side); 2x Plastic Screws from the Driver Side of the body cover.
- Remove the Driver Side Bumper Cover by removing 2x Set Screws; 2x Bolts; 2x Clips (1 from behind the Mud Guard on the Driver Side) for better access.
- Remove the Shipping Hooks from the driver and passenger side and discard them. Remove the Plastic Plugs from underneath the Chassis Rail and from the sides of the Rail.
- Remove the Muffler from the Exhaust Hook Bracket and discard the Hook Bracket.
- Mount Sidearm Driver to the Chassis Rail using 2x M12x40 Bolts with M12 Spring and Flat Washers. Mount Towbar to the Passenger Side Chassis Rail using 2x M12x40 Bolts with M12 Spring and Flat Washers. Mount the Towbar Driver Side to the Sidearm Driver using 3x M12x40 Bolts with M12 Spring and Flat Washers.
- Torque all fasteners to the specification on page 2.
- Cut the side of the plastic underbody tray 115mm wide all the way down to the ribbing to allow clearance to the Towbar.
- Using the factory cut-out section, cut 100mm wide and 270mm depth as shown. Neatly cut out using a saw or similar device, remove all burrs.
- Refit the Bumper cover in reverse order.
Wiring Loom Installation
Wiring Loom Installation Time: Approx 60 Mins
ECU Required: 04826
Tail Harness Length Required: 1800mm
Installation Steps (Wiring Loom):
- In the luggage compartment, lift the floor cover (1) upwards. Remove the parcel shelf.
- Remove the spare wheel cover (1). Remove the LHS storage compartment (2) by first removing the 4 clips (3). Remove the LHS tool tray (4).
- Remove the LHS floor cover carpet (1).
- For RX450H vehicles only: Remove the rear battery cover. Disconnect and remove the rear battery.
- Remove the rear compartment trim (1).
- On the LHS of the luggage compartment, remove the LHS rear corner trim by first removing the clip (1).
- Lift up the cover on the two cargo hooks (2) and remove the two fasteners (3).
- Remove the two rearmost clips (1) from the LHS side trim. Remove the LHS handle trim (2). Remove the fasteners (3) from the LHS parcel shelf guide. Remove the fasteners cap (4) and remove the fastener (5).
- Dislodge the LHS side trim (1) and disconnect the two connectors (2). Remove the three fasteners (3) from the LHS floor bracket.
- Remove the two fasteners (1) from the subwoofer floor bracket. Remove the three subwoofer fasteners (2). Disconnect the subwoofer connector (3) and remove the subwoofer from the vehicle.
- Drill a Ø30mm hole (1) just behind the luggage compartment grommet (2). File any rough or sharp edges and spray on rust inhibitor.
- In the subwoofer cavity, locate the vehicle 12-way breakout connector (1). Connect the trailer patch T-piece (2) to the breakout connector (1). Note: If the breakout connector is occupied, disconnect and patch in between.
- Route the trailer patch (P/No: 100481-WL) (3) towards the rear of the luggage compartment.
- Connect the trailer patch 12-way ECU connector (1) to the ECU (2) (04826).
- Apply double-sided tape to the ECU (1) and adhere it to the LHS rear corner of the luggage compartment floor. Ensure the ECU (1) final mounting location will not restrict the fitment of the vehicle subwoofer.
- Connect the trailer patch ground ring terminal (1) to the existing vehicle earth point (2) on the rear of the luggage compartment.
- From the outside of the vehicle, mount the trailer socket (1) to the towbar mounting bracket using M4 fasteners (not supplied).
- Route the tail harness (2) across the towbar towards the LHS of the vehicle and up through the previously drilled out hole. Ensure the tail harness grommet is seated correctly and secure in place using a cable tie (not supplied).
- Connect the tail harness 8-way connector (1) to the trailer patch mating 8-way connector (2).
- Test the trailer harness function using a light board or multimeter.
- Secure all harnesses using cable ties (not supplied).
- Re-fit all removed parts and secure all fasteners, ensuring there are no squeaks or rattles.
- Place the instructions in the glove box after fitment.
