Consumer Safety & Tips
This appliance is intended for household use only.
WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard. This appliance is provided with a grounded (3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a grounded outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have an electrician replace the outlet.
The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary, an approved extension cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the appliance. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over.
Tips for Using Your Pasta Machine:
- Always place the machine on a clean, stable surface, with the power switch accessible.
- Use a pasta drying rack or a pastry/cutting board to dry pasta.
- Separate pasta strands during drying to prevent sticking.
- Once dry, wrap pasta tightly in plastic wrap and store in a plastic bag. Refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
- When cooking homemade pasta, use plenty of water to prevent sticking. A small amount of oil can also help.
- Fresh pasta cooks faster: Spaghetti typically cooks in 5-8 minutes, Fettuccini in 7-11 minutes.
Pasta Machine Features
Note: Only run the Pasta Machine for 15 minutes at a time to ensure motor longevity.
- Safety Cover: Controls a safety switch. The machine will not operate if the cover is open.
- Sliding Safety Guards: Located in the cover, these guards slide over unused rollers to protect fingers and other objects.
- Power Switch: Controls two speeds: 'I' for FAST and 'II' for SLOW. It is recommended to start with 'II' (slow) speed. 'O' is OFF.
- Adjustment Knob: Adjusts the spacing between the Smooth Rollers. Pull out, rotate to the desired setting (1=widest, 9=narrowest), and release. Always turn the machine OFF before adjusting.
- Smooth Rollers: Used for kneading and preparing dough for various pasta shapes and sheets.
- Cutter Rollers: Available in two sizes: narrow for spaghetti and wide for fettuccini.
Cleaning Instructions
Note: Clean the Pasta Machine before first use and after each use.
For first-time use, pass a small amount of dough through the rollers to familiarize yourself with operation and clean any debris.
- Connect the machine to power and set the Power Switch to 'II' (slow).
- Insert a small piece of dough through the Smooth Rollers, then the Cutters. Repeat several times. Discard the dough when clean.
- Turn the Power Switch to 'O' (off) and unplug the power cord.
- Set the Adjustment Knob to '1' (widest setting) for cleaning.
- Use the provided Cleaning Brush or a small, soft brush to clean dough bits from the rollers. If dough is stuck, wait until it dries. Note: Do not insert fingers, knives, or utensils between the rollers.
- Wipe other surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do NOT use abrasive cleaners.
- NEVER immerse the machine in water or other liquids. The Pasta Machine is NOT dishwasher safe.
Using the Pasta Machine
Note: Run for a maximum of 15 minutes at a time.
- Prepare your chosen dough. Avoid using salt, as it can damage the machine.
- Place the pasta machine on a flat, dry, stable surface.
- Open the Safety Cover. Ensure the Power Switch is 'O' (off).
- Connect to the power source.
- Close the Safety Cover. The machine will not operate with the cover open.
- Cut dough into fist-sized pieces.
- Set the Adjustment Knob to '1' (widest setting).
- Move the Sliding Safety Guards over the cutting rollers.
- Set the Power Switch to 'II' (slow).
- Pinch one end of a dough piece slightly flat to help feed it into the Smooth Rollers.
- Gently push the dough between the Smooth Rollers, keeping fingers clear. The rollers will pull the dough through. Guide the emerging dough with your hand.
- Repeat step 11 with the same dough 2-3 times.
- After passing dough through the Smooth Rollers 2-3 times at the widest setting ('1'), turn the machine OFF. Adjust the knob to setting '2' and pass the dough through again. Continue adjusting to higher settings until you achieve sheets of approximately 1/16" (1.6 mm) thickness. (Settings may vary based on dough type and conditions).
- Once the dough reaches the desired thickness, turn the Pasta Machine OFF.
- Decide on your pasta type (spaghetti or fettuccini). Place one Sliding Safety Guard over the Smooth Rollers and the other over the cutter that will not be used.
- Set the Power Switch to 'II' (slow). Feed the dough into the cutter until it begins to feed through. The cutter will pull the dough. Guide the emerging pasta.
- Hang pasta on a drying rack or lay flat on a board to dry faster.
- Follow your recipe for cooking once the pasta is dry.
Food Safety
Follow basic rules: COOK, SEPARATE, CLEAN, and CHILL.
- Cook: Ensure food reaches safe internal temperatures to destroy bacteria. Ground meat should reach 160-165°F (71-74°C). Steaks and chops can be served rarer (145°F/63°C for medium-rare beef), poultry at 165°F (74°C), and pork at 145°F (63°C).
- Separate: Always keep raw and cooked foods separate to prevent cross-contamination. Store raw meats on the lowest refrigerator shelf. Use raw meats within 1-2 days or freeze. Defrost frozen meats in the refrigerator. Use clean platters for cooked food and wash utensils. Wash hands thoroughly after handling raw meat or eggs.
- Clean: Wash hands and work surfaces frequently with soap and warm water for at least 15 seconds.
- Chill: Keep foods cold (refrigerator at 40°F/4°C or below, freezer at 0°F/-18°C or below). Avoid the danger zone (40-140°F / 4-60°C) where bacteria multiply. Do not leave food at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if ambient temperature is 90°F/32°C or above).
