Operation, Lubrication, and Care

Before Operating

Before operating the motor, ensure the electric supply voltage and current match the specifications on the nameplate. Fill the oil cup. Push in the turning knob and rotate the machine over a few revolutions by hand to confirm the knife moves freely.

Warning: This machine is equipped with a sharp knife. Keep hands away from the knife area at all times. Use control levers and handles only when operating or handling the machine.

Care of Machine

Use an air hose or bellows with proper eye protection to blow lint out of the motor and sharpener twice a week. Remove the cover over the cam and clean out lint around the screw mechanism in the sharpener once a week. Remove the knife and clean the slides with a slot cleaner at least once a day. To prevent lint accumulation, do not oil the plate rollers. If rollers stick, remove them and wash in cleaning solvent.

Warning: Do not operate the sharpener without the knife in place, as this will damage the sharpener.

To Sharpen the Knife

Remove the machine from its working position. Lower the pressure foot using the pressure foot lever located next to the machine operating handle. Press the release lever downward with slow, firm pressure to engage the sharpening mechanism. Applying pressure too quickly may cause the lever to lock. If this occurs, lift the latch lever and restart. With practice, you will learn to apply the correct operating pressure.
