Safety Warnings Common for Grinding or Abrasive Cutting-Off Operations
- This tool is intended as a grinder or cut-off tool.
- Operations like sanding, wire brushing, polishing, or hole cutting are not recommended.
- Do not convert the tool.
- Use only accessories specifically designed for the tool and guard.
- Accessory rated speed must be at least equal to the tool's maximum speed.
- Accessory diameter and thickness must be within the tool's capacity.
- Accessory mounting dimensions must fit the tool's hardware.
- Do not use damaged accessories. Inspect before use. Run at no-load speed for one minute after installing an accessory.
- Wear appropriate PPE (face shield, goggles, safety glasses, dust mask, hearing protectors, gloves, apron).
- Keep bystanders at a safe distance.
- Hold by insulated gripping surfaces when contacting hidden wiring.
- Position cord clear of the spinning accessory.
- Never lay the tool down until the accessory stops.
- Do not run the tool while carrying it at your side.
- Regularly clean air vents.
- Do not operate near flammable materials.
- Do not use accessories requiring liquid coolants.
Kickback and Related Warnings
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged accessory, causing the tool to be forced in the opposite direction of rotation. Avoid by:
- Maintaining a firm grip with both hands and positioning body to resist kickback.
- Never placing hands near the rotating accessory.
- Not positioning body in the tool's potential kickback path.
- Using special care on corners, sharp edges, and avoiding bouncing.
- Not attaching saw chain blades, segmented diamond wheels with gaps >10 mm, or toothed saw blades.
Additional Safety Warnings Specific for Abrasive Cutting-Off Operations
- Do not "jam" the cut-off wheel or apply excessive pressure.
- Do not position body in line with and behind the rotating wheel.
- If the wheel binds, switch off and wait for it to stop completely. Investigate the cause.
- Do not restart cutting in the workpiece; let the wheel reach full speed.
- Support oversized workpieces to minimize pinching and kickback.
- Use extra caution for "pocket cuts" into existing walls.
- Do not attempt curved cutting.
General Safety Instructions for Grinders
- Attach side handle firmly, hold with both hands.
- Ensure wheel speed is equal to or greater than the grinder's rated speed.
- Ensure wheel dimensions are compatible.
- Inspect grinding wheels before use.
- Ensure mounted wheels/points are fitted correctly.
- Use blotters if provided.
- Mount and tighten abrasive products correctly; run at no-load for 30 seconds to check for vibration.
- Never use the tool without a guard if equipped.
- Do not use reducing bushings/adapters for large hole wheels.
- Ensure threaded hole wheels have sufficient spindle length.
- Do not use cut-off wheels for side grinding.
- Ensure sparks do not create hazards.
- Keep ventilation openings clear.
- Always use eye and ear protection.
- Be aware of the wheel continuing to rotate after switch-off.
- Use appropriate wheel guard (Type A for cutting-off, Type B for grinding).
Mounting and Operation
Refer to figures for specific actions. Key operations include:
- Attaching and removing guard clip.
- Fitting and adjusting the wheel guard.
- Fixing the side handle.
- Assembling depressed center wheels, cutting wheels, and diamond wheels.
- Switch operation.
- Grinding angle and method (rough grinding at 15°-30°).
- Cutting work (work against the run of the disc).
- Selecting accessories.
WARNING: Ensure wheel nut is tightened securely. The wheel washer (C) is specific to this product.
NOTE: For 0 voltage re-start protection, return switch to OFF for 1 second before restarting.
Grinding Method: For new wheels, pull back when pushing forward. Once worn, grind in both directions. For cutting, always work against the run of the disc to avoid kickback.
WARNING: Do not use specific dust collection guards for diamond cutting discs (Code No. 377085, 377086) as they may prevent correct switch operation.
Maintenance and Inspection
WARNING: Switch OFF and disconnect plug before maintenance. Using damaged wheels can lead to breakage.
- Inspect depressed center wheels for cracks and defects.
- Inspect and tighten all mounting screws.
- Supply cord replacement must be done by authorized service center.
- Clean filter regularly using a soft brush or air gun (wear PPE). Replace if damaged.
- Exchanging filter set: Be careful not to let debris enter the tool body.
- Motor maintenance: Protect winding from damage, oil, or water. Periodically run motor with no load to expel dust.
- Cleaning: Wipe exterior with a soft dry cloth or soapy water. Avoid solvents.
- Storage: Store in a place with temperature below 40°C, out of reach of children.
