Name of Parts

Diagram shows the HFR-2AM RFID Reader with numbered callouts pointing to: 1. The device itself. 2. A bracket with mounting holes (Ø3.5 Hole 4EA, M3 Bolt or Screw use). 3. ANT 1 Port (SMA Female Connector). 4. ANT 2 Port (SMA Female Connector). 5. LAN Port (TCP/IP, RJ-45 with 2-LEDs). 6. RS-232C Port (Serial RJ45). 7. DC Jack (Power Input, Exclusive Adaptor use).

Software

Set Reader Connection

Screen Layout

Screenshot of the software interface for setting reader connection. It includes sections for Connection (Serial/TCP/IP, Port, IP, Rate), Operating Setting (Mode, Buzzer, Period, ANT, Length, Address), Download Firmware, Communication (RF ON/OFF, RS232, LAN), and Data (Clear, Reset, Read Data, Write Data).

1. Connection

Connect or disconnect communication with the reader by setting the communication method (Serial, TCP/IP), port, and speed.

2. External Input Port / External Output Port (for HFR-4AM)

Check the status of the trigger signal input of the reader. Relay's contact point can be turned on/off.

3. Download Firmware

Upgrade the reader's firmware.

4. Clear / RF ON, RF OFF

5. Communication

Communication method (RS232, LAN) and speed status can be checked or set.

Connection by using the PC's serial port (Serial Com.)

How to connect the cable

  1. Connect RJ45 to Dsub9 Cable to the PC's serial port.
  2. Connect RJ45 to Dsub9 cable to the reader's RS-232C port.
  3. The connection is completed as shown in the diagram.
Diagrams illustrate the connection of the HFR-2AM RFID Reader to a PC via a serial port using an RJ45 to Dsub9 Cable.

How to set the program

  1. Ensure power and communication cables are properly connected to the Reader.
  2. Run the program and click the "OPEN" tab after setting the first window. The "Serial Connected" message will be displayed (settings may vary by PC).
  3. Click the "GET" tab in the Operation Setting window.

In a normal connection, setting values are displayed on the Reader as shown in Figure 2, and the connection status between the Reader and the PC is displayed in the program message window.

Two software interface screenshots (Figure 1 and Figure 2) show connection settings and operating parameters.

Connection by using PC's USB port (Serial Communication)

How to connect the cable

  1. Connect RJ45 to Dsub9 Cable to a USB to RS232 Cable, and connect the USB to RS232 Cable to the PC's USB port.
  2. Connect RJ45 to Dsub9 cable to the Reader's RS-232C port.
  3. The connection is completed as shown in the diagram.
