Miele MasterCool Installation and Dimensions Guide

This guide provides essential information for the safe and correct installation of Miele MasterCool appliances. It is crucial to read and follow the advice within the operating and installation instructions to ensure safe operation.

The information in this brochure serves as a guide for cabinetry building and the installation of MasterCool units. For operating instructions, download them from the Miele website (www.miele.com.au or www.miele.co.nz) or contact Miele's National Customer Contact Centre.

What's Included with MasterCool

The purchase price of your MasterCool unit includes:

• A pre-delivery inspection (within outlined metro areas).
• Delivery to the address specified at the time of order placement.

Product and Cut-Out Dimensions

To ensure proper installation, the niche must be square, and the outlined cut-out and door/drawer front dimensions must be followed. Appliances are secured to adjoining furniture/units. Ensure all furniture/units are fixed to the ground and/or wall. If no cabinet is above the appliance for fixing, a bulkhead or cabinet shelf is required.

Niche Opening and Door Dimensions

Custom Door Panel Information

MasterCool appliances do not include a front panel. They are designed for custom door panels from a cabinet maker or Miele's specific stainless steel panels. Miele's panel integration system ensures alignment with surrounding cabinets.

Custom door panel thickness: minimum 16 mm – maximum 38 mm.

Combination Examples

• KF 2981 Vi (915 mm) + K 2601 Vi (610 mm) = 1525 mm niche width
• KF 2981 Vi (915 mm) + F 2671 Vi (610 mm) = 1525 mm niche width

When appliances are installed side-by-side, adjustment to custom door panel widths is required. Door panel widths should be customized to ensure gaps between door panels match existing cabinet work.

Notes on Door Panels:

• If door panels exceed appliance door dimensions, the rear of the door panel should be finished as it will be visible.
• Interior end panels should be finished as they will be visible.
• Ensure door panels do not contact cabinet work end panels. Overhang or contact can prevent the appliance door from sealing correctly, affecting performance. Incorrect installation is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Additional Installation Information

Product Weight

MasterCool appliances are heavy and can tip forward when the door is open. Keep the door shut until the appliance is built-in and secured. Installation requires at least two people due to the appliance's size and weight.

Installation Surface

The installation surface must be smooth and even. Miele recommends a concrete floor. The floor must be capable of bearing the appliance's weight. Consult an architect or structural engineer if necessary. Use MDF sheeting to protect flooring during appliance movement.

Mains Water Connection

Connection to the mains water supply must be performed by a qualified person, following national and local regulations. Appliances with ice makers/water dispensers require a cold water supply with a maximum inlet temperature of 40°C. Water pressure should be between 2.0 and 8.0 bar. A pressure-reducing valve may be needed if pressure exceeds 8.0 bar. A mains stopcock with a 3/4" thread is required. A tap must be provided between the appliance's stainless steel hose and the household water supply for easy disconnection. The tap should be accessible after installation and not located behind or above the appliance. Purge the inlet pipe of air before use.

Note: Mains water and power connections must not be installed behind the MasterCool unit/s niche.

Electrical Connection

Electrical work must be carried out by a qualified person, adhering to safety regulations. The appliance uses a 3m mains cable and plug for a 220-240V, 50Hz supply. The fuse rating must be at least 10A. The plug must be accessible for quick disconnection. Do not use multi-socket units or extension leads.

Side-by-Side Installation

MasterCool appliances can be installed side-by-side. If installing units with less than a 160 mm gap, the KSK 2001 installation kit is required to prevent condensation build-up between units. This kit is supplied with fixings and does not add to appliance width. Joining units without a partition wall requires the KSK 2001 kit.

Note: Installing two MasterCool units as shown in some diagrams may require cabinetry customization for door openings and additional space to prevent doors from striking when opened.

Appliance Door Open Angle

Doors open to 115° by default. This can be limited to 90° if the door hits an adjacent wall. Ensure awareness of door hinging requirements during niche preparation.

Ventilation

To prevent condensation and potential damage, install appliances in a dry, air-conditioned room with sufficient ventilation. Ensure doors seal properly. Air vents must not be blocked. An air separator is required to separate incoming and outgoing air for efficient operation; without it, warm air can cause overheating. A minimum of 102 mm clearance is required between the floor and the base of the furniture door for adequate ventilation.

Adjusting the Height of the Appliance

Adjust height carefully using front and rear mechanisms. Tilt the appliance to relieve weight before adjusting. Never force the unit without relieving weight, as this can damage the adjustment mechanisms.

Additional Accessories

MasterCool appliances do not include side panels, handles, or door panels. These accessories are available from Miele and should be ordered with the appliance. Incorrect installation affecting appliance performance is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
