Philips Airfryer Troubleshooting Guide
My Philips Airfryer Makes a Noise
If your Philips Airfryer is making a noise, this guide will help you understand and resolve the issue.
The Fan is On
If the noise sounds like a fan rotating very fast, this is normal operation. Your Philips Airfryer has an internal fan to keep its parts cool. This noise can reach up to 65 dB (decibel), comparable to the sound of an average vacuum cleaner. There is no cause for concern in this case.
Something is Loose Inside
If the noise is louder or different from the usual fan sound, such as a fluttering or shuffling noise, it may indicate that a part is loose inside your Philips Airfryer. If you suspect this is the case, please contact Philips Customer Care for assistance.
Food Not Crispy or As Expected
If food or snacks prepared in your Philips Airfryer are not as crispy as expected, several factors could be contributing. Follow these tips and tricks for better results:
Too Many Snacks or Items Cooked at the Same Time
Avoid cooking a large quantity of snacks or food at once. Smaller portions are air-fried more evenly. For optimal results, ensure the Airfryer basket is covered with just one layer of snacks.
Preparation of Home-Made Fries
For best results when preparing home-made fries, follow these steps:
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into sticks.
- Soak the potato sticks in a bowl of water for at least 30 minutes. Remove them and dry thoroughly with kitchen paper.
- In a separate bowl, pour a half tablespoon of olive oil. Add the potato sticks and mix until they are evenly coated with oil.
- Remove the sticks from the bowl, allowing excess oil to drain back into the bowl. Place the coated sticks in the Airfryer basket.
- Fry the potato sticks at 180°C (350°F). Shake the basket halfway through the hot air frying process, or 2-3 times for a more even result. If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Philips Customer Care.
Using Non Oven-Ready Food
For optimal results with the Airfryer, it is recommended to use oven-ready products. Oven-ready snacks typically achieve a golden brown and crispy texture when prepared in the Airfryer.
Incorrect Temperature Setting
Ensure the correct temperature is selected. Most snacks require preparation at 200°C (400°F). Pastry-based snacks, however, should be air-fried at 180°C (350°F).
Incorrect Preparation Time
Most snacks require the preparation time indicated for oven cooking. Deep fat fryer preparation times are often shorter and may not yield a well-cooked result. Generally, snacks need between 6 to 10 minutes. If the food is not crispy enough, add a few extra minutes, being careful not to burn the food.
If ingredients touch each other during cooking, shake the basket halfway through the preparation process. For larger quantities, shake 2-3 times for more even results.
Oil or Fat Not Used Correctly
When preparing home-made breaded snacks, remember to mix oil into the bread crumbs. Opt for low-fat snack varieties when possible, as snacks with a high fat percentage can be difficult to make crispy.
Follow these additional tips:
- Dry the outside of the food properly before adding oil.
- Avoid using excessive oil, as this can make the food less crispy and more fatty.
- For the crispiest results with meat or poultry, lightly brush or marinate them with oil.
The Display on My Philips Airfryer Shows 5 Dashes
If your Airfryer's display shows 5 dashes, this indicates that the safety feature has been activated due to overheating. To resolve this, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down for 1 minute before plugging it back in and restarting.
The display typically shows five horizontal bars: [display showing five dashes].
