Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, always follow basic safety precautions, including:

⚠️ Warning: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not remove the cover indicated by the arrow. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

Short Power Cord Instructions

A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of entanglement or tripping. Longer cords or extension cords may be used if care is exercised. Ensure the extension cord's electrical rating is at least as great as the appliance's. Arrange the cord so it does not drape where children can pull it or trip over it. Use a grounding-type 3-wire extension cord.

Parts and Features

The coffeemaker includes:

Diagram Description (Fig. 1): Shows the coffeemaker with labeled components including the digital display, control panel, housing, water reservoir window, carafe, warming plate, brew basket, water filter carriage, charcoal water filter, gold filter, base, inner cover, and spreader.

Preparing to Use Your Coffeemaker

Before the first use:

Operating Your Coffeemaker

The programmable digital controls indicate when coffee is ready and track freshness.

Brewing Coffee:

  1. Open the top cover (See Fig. 3).
  2. Fill the water tank with cold water to the desired level. Markings from 4 to 12 cups (600ml to 1800ml) are on the water tank and carafe sides (See Fig. 4).
  3. Place either the permanent gold-tone filter or a size #4 cone paper filter into the brew basket (See Fig. 5).
  4. Add ground coffee according to taste (recommendation: one heaping tablespoon per two cups). Experiment for your perfect cup. You can use a paper filter with the gold-tone filter.
  5. Close the cover. Place the carafe on the warming plate and plug in the appliance. The display will illuminate. If the clock is not set, the coffeemaker may beep. The clock does not need to be set to brew coffee. Refer to "Setting the Clock, Timer and Auto-Brewing" for clock setup.
  6. Turn on the coffeemaker by pressing the START/STOP button. The indicator will light up. Hot water will flow into the filter. When water stops flowing, brewing is complete, and the coffeemaker switches to warming mode. For delayed brewing, see "Setting the Clock, Timer and Auto-Brewing".
  7. After pouring all coffee from the carafe, press START/STOP to turn off the appliance and remove the carafe. The coffeemaker will automatically shut off after two hours if not manually turned off.

Pause and Pour Feature:

This feature allows you to remove the carafe and pour a cup of coffee before brewing is finished. A special valve stops coffee flow. If the carafe is not replaced within 20 seconds, water and coffee may overflow from the brew basket.

Operating the Control Panel

Setting the Clock, Timer and Auto-Brewing:

Use the Hour and Min buttons to set the clock. When first plugged in, the clock flashes 12:00 AM. Press Hour for hours (12 AM to 11 PM) and Min for minutes (1-59). Holding buttons speeds up the process. The clock starts when buttons are released.

To program an automatic brew time:

  1. Set the clock first.
  2. Press the Prog button (indicator illuminates).
  3. Set the desired brew time using the Hour and Min buttons, ensuring correct AM/PM designation.
  4. Once the correct time is set and the clock returns to the current time, press the Auto On button.
  5. Auto Brew can be cancelled by pressing Auto On again. To check the set time, press the Set Auto button.

Diagram Description (Fig. 6): Shows the control panel with buttons labeled Filter Reset, Prog, Auto On, 1-4 Cup, and START/STOP, and the digital clock display.

1-4 Cup Button:

This cycle optimizes flavor for 1-4 cups or can increase brew strength for any number of cups. Press START/STOP, then press the 1-4 CUP button. Both indicators will illuminate. ⚠️ Note: The 1-4 Cup button must be pressed after START/STOP for the function to activate. The coffeemaker shuts off automatically after 2 hours.

Care and Cleaning

Always unplug the coffeemaker before cleaning. Clean the exterior, control panel, and warming plate with a soft, damp cloth.

Carafe Care:

Cleaning the Coffeemaker and Changing the Charcoal Filter:

Mineral deposits can clog the coffeemaker. After approximately 70 brewing cycles, the unit will beep three times, and a "Change filter and clean" message will blink. The Filter Reset indicator will illuminate. A long beep sounds after the filter is changed.

To clean and change the filter:

  1. Press the Filter Reset button on the control panel to stop the blinking message (Fig. 7).
  2. Open the reservoir cover and pull out the water filter carriage (Fig. 8).
  3. Pour white vinegar into the water reservoir up to the 6-cup level.
  4. Add cold water up to the 12-cup line.
  5. Place a paper filter in the brew basket, close the cover, and place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  6. Turn on the coffeemaker and let half the vinegar-water solution brew into the carafe.
  7. Turn off the coffeemaker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes to soften deposits.
  8. Turn the coffeemaker back on and brew the remaining solution. Turn off, empty the carafe, and discard the used paper filter.
  9. Rinse the reservoir with cold water and run another brew cycle. Repeat if necessary to eliminate any vinegar smell/taste.
  10. Wash the brew basket and carafe.
  11. Open the water filter carriage, remove the used charcoal filter, and replace it with a new one of the same size (Fig. 9).
  12. Insert the water filter carriage back into the reservoir.

To reset the cycle count and reminder, press the "Filter Reset" button.
