Introduction
The d&b D90 amplifier is designed for mobile applications and use with applicable d&b loudspeakers. It features a LINEAR mode for operation as a linear power amplifier.
Note: d&b audiotechnik accepts no liability for damage caused to loudspeakers from other brands used with d&b amplifiers in LINEAR mode.
ATTENTION! The device complies with the electromagnetic compatibility requirements of standard EN 55032:2019 for Class B environments (domestic use). However, acoustic interference and malfunctions may occur if the unit operates in close proximity to high-frequency transmitters (wireless microphones, mobile phones, etc.).

Loudspeaker Types
Each channel can power a maximum number of loudspeakers depending on their nominal impedance. The minimum recommended impedance per channel is 4 ohms.

Connections
Mains Connector
The device has a powerCON-TRUE® mains connector. Ensure the power cord is properly connected to a grounded mains socket.
WARNING! Risk of electric shock or fire. The device has Class 1 protection. Ensure proper grounding. Do not connect or disconnect the mains plug while it is live.
Audio Input/Output Connectors
- Analog Inputs (A1-A4) and LINK: XLR 3-pin female connectors for inputs, with parallel XLR 3-pin male connectors for LINK outputs.
- Digital Inputs (IN/OUT - D1/2, D3/4): XLR 3-pin female connectors for AES3 digital signals.
Speaker Outputs
The amplifier features NL4 connectors for loudspeaker outputs. Various configurations are possible, including Dual Channel, Mix TOP/SUB, and 2-Way Active modes.
WARNING! Risk of electric shock. Use only insulated speaker cables with properly fitted connectors. Never connect a speaker output to another output, input, or to ground.
Network Connections
- ETH1/PRI: For Milan™™ primary signal and remote control via d&b R1 software or web interface.
- ETH2/SEC: For Milan™™ redundant signal.
Only shielded twisted pair (STP) network cables should be used.
Controls and Indicators
Power Switch
The rotary power switch [5] is located on the front panel.
Touchscreen Display
A 4.3" TFT color touchscreen display [6] with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels is used for operation. A rotary encoder [7] is also provided for navigation and parameter adjustment.
ATTENTION! The touchscreen is covered by a flexible film that can be damaged by sharp objects or rough handling.
Getting Started
Rack Mounting and Cooling
The unit is designed for standard 19" racks. Ensure adequate airflow through the front and rear of the unit. Do not block air intakes or exhausts.
ATTENTION! When mounting in racks or cabinets, always secure the unit using both front and rear mounting brackets. Ensure sufficient ventilation, especially in enclosed cabinets.
System Reset
To reset the system to factory defaults:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the encoder, then turn on the device. A long beep confirms the reset.
- Release the encoder and press it again briefly within 2 seconds. A short beep confirms.
The device will restart with the message "All device settings have been cleared".
Device Configuration
From the Home screen, select "Device name" to access device configuration settings, including Input, Output, and Network settings.
Channel Configuration
From the Home screen, select "Channel name" to configure individual channels, adjusting parameters like Gain, Delay, EQ, and Mute.
Basic Settings - Quick Reference Guide
1. System Reset
Follow the steps above to reset the system.
2. Device Configuration
Access "Device name" from the Home screen to configure input, output modes, and network settings.
3. Input Settings
Configure input parameters, including gain, for all channels.
4. Output Settings
Select the desired output mode for each amplifier channel pair (e.g., Dual Channel, Mix TOP/SUB, 2-Way Active).
5. Speaker Setup
Configure speaker settings for all channels and confirm each selection.
6. Network Setup
Access network configuration via the "ID" button to set IP addresses and other network parameters.
7. Channel Configuration
Configure individual channel parameters such as CUT, HFA, CPL, Level, DLY, and EQ.
Assistance and Maintenance
Assistance
For any assistance, contact a qualified d&b audiotechnik technician. Do not attempt to service the unit yourself. If the device is damaged, do not operate it.
Maintenance and Servicing
The amplifier is designed for normal operation without maintenance. It does not require filter cleaning or replacement.
Touchscreen Cleaning
Use a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid solvent-based cleaners. If the screen is very dirty, a special TFT screen cleaner can be used. Spray the cleaner onto the cloth, not directly onto the screen.
Touchscreen Calibration
If the touchscreen becomes inaccurate, recalibrate it by navigating to Device ⇒ More ⇒ Preferences ⇒ Display ⇒ Touch screen calibration.
