Important Tips

  1. Vacuum sealing cannot replace the heating process of canned food, so easily rotten things need to be put in the refrigerator for refrigeration or freeze.
  2. To achieve the best results, use it only with the roll bags and accessories from Elechomes.
  3. In the process of vacuum sealing, a small amount of liquid, bread crumbs or food particles may be sucked into the vacuum chamber. After each use, empty the drip tray.
  4. Always leave 3 inches between food inside the bag and the top of the bag, so that the bag has enough space together with the food to prevent the bag from being pulled out of the vacuum channel during sealing.
  5. If you plan to reuse a bag, keep at least one extra inch of bag materials.
  6. To prevent wrinkles during sealing, when vacuum sealing large items, gently pull the bag flat, insert the opening of the bag into the vacuum groove and continue to hold the bag until the vacuum pump starts.
  7. When vacuum sealing sharp-edged items, protect the bag with soft cushioning materials (like tissue) to prevent puncture.
  8. Fruits and vegetables should be frozen before vacuum sealing. See Guidelines for Vacuum Sealing.
  9. Do not press the lid in the operating position, because the gasket may be compressed, affecting the vacuum sealing effect.

  5. Gently twist and remove Accessory Hose from accessory and appliance.

Food Safety

The vacuum sealing process reduces the oxidation effect by sucking out most of the air in the sealed container, thereby extending the life of the food. However, this reduces the nutritional value, flavor, and overall quality. Removing air can also inhibit the growth of microorganisms. At the same time, we must pay attention to other issues:

  1. Vacuum sealing cannot replace refrigeration or freeze. Perishable foods that require refrigeration should still be refrigerated or frozen after vacuum sealing.
  2. To keep food good, it is important to keep it in the cold temperature. At 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4 degrees Celsius) or lower, microbial growth can be significantly reduced.
  3. Freezing food at 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-17 degrees Celsius) does not kill microorganisms, but prevents them from growing.
  4. For long-term storage, vacuum-sealed perishable food should be frozen, or refrigerated after thawing.
  5. Vacuum sealing cannot replace the canned way, nor can it reverse the deterioration of food. It can only slow down the change in quality.
  6. Note: Due to the risk of anaerobic bacteria, fresh mushrooms, onions, and garlic are not suitable for vacuum sealing.

Vacuum Sealing of Fruits

When freezing soft fruits, it is best to prefreeze them for 1-2 hours or until they are completely frozen. Freeze fruits in portions and vacuum seal them in a food protection bag. After vacuum sealing, put them back in the refrigerator.

Vacuum Sealing of Liquid

Before you vacuum seal liquid, such as soup, pre-freeze it in a shallow pan, loaf pan, or ice cube tray until they are solid. Remove the frozen liquid from the pan and vacuum seal it in a food protection bag. You can put these frozen soup cubes in the refrigerator. When you are ready to use them, just cut the bag out and take out the frozen soup pieces, and thaw them in the microwave to eat.

Vacuum Sealing for Snacks

When you vacuum seal snacks, they will stay fresh longer. For best results, use a food protection jar to hold crushable items, such as cookies.

Guidelines for Vacuum Sealing

Thawing and Reheating of Vacuum-sealed Food

Food must be thawed in the refrigerator or microwave. Do not thaw perishable foods at room temperature. To heat food in a food bag in a microwave oven, be sure to cut off one corner of the bag before putting it into the microwave oven. However, to avoid hot spots, do not use microwave ovens to heat boned meats or greasy foods. You can also reheat the food by boiling it in water under 170 degrees Fahrenheit (75 degrees Celsius).

Vacuum Sealing of Hard Cheese

To keep the cheese fresh, it needs to be vacuum sealed after each use. You can make the food protection bag extra long to leave an inch of bag material each time you open and reseal it. Simply cut off the sealed edges, and then take out the cheese. When you are ready to reseal the cheese, put it in a bag and then reseal it.

NOTE: Soft cheese is not suitable for vacuum sealing due to the risk of anaerobic bacteria.

Vacuum Sealing for Meat and Fish

For best results, freeze the meat and fish for 1-2 hours before vacuum sealing to maintain the gravy and shape for better sealing effect.

Note: After vacuum sealing, the color of beef may become darker due to deoxygenation, but this is not a sign of deterioration.

Vacuum Sealing of Vegetables

Vegetables need to be soaked in boiled water before vacuum sealing. This process will prevent the enzymes from working, which can lead to loss of flavor, color, and texture. Put the vegetables in boiled water or microwave to cook them. Depending on the type of vegetables, the time of being soaked in the boiled water will last from 1 minute to 2 minutes. After soaking the vegetables in the boiled water, soak them in cold water and stop cooking. Finally, dry the vegetables with a towel before vacuum sealing.

Note: All vegetables naturally emit odor during storage. Therefore, after soaking them in boiled water, just store them in the refrigerator. When freezing vegetables, it is best to prefreeze them for 1-2 hours or until they are completely frozen. Freeze vegetables in portions and vacuum seal them in a food protection bag. After vacuum sealing, put them back in the refrigerator.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  1. Remove the power cord from the power outlet. Do not immerse the device in liquid.
  2. Check the gasket and drip tray to ensure there is no food. If necessary, wipe the gasket with a hot soapy cloth. The upper and lower gaskets can be removed for cleaning and washed with warm soapy water.
  3. During the vacuuming process, if a small amount of liquid is sucked into the vacuum channel, the removable drip tray makes cleaning easy. After each use, clean the drip tray. Wash it with warm soapy water or place it on the top of the dishwasher for washing. Reinsert the appliance after it is completely dry.
  4. DO NOT place the lid in the operating position as the gaskets may be compressed. When the appliance is in the operating position for a long time, the internal gasket may be compressed, affecting the sealing effect, and even the parts may not work properly.

Appliance Storage Guide

Clean the device thoroughly as described above. After you have cleaned the vacuum sealer and allowed it to dry completely, close the lid but do not press it down firmly. At the operating position, the gasket may be compressed. When the appliance is in the operating position for a long time, the internal gasket may be compressed, affecting the sealing effect, and even the parts may not work properly.

CAUTION: [Warning symbol] Do not press the lid down firmly when not in use.
