Rider Responsibilities:
By choosing to ride an electric bicycle, you assume the responsibility for the risks involved. The rider is responsible for knowing and practicing the rules of safe and responsible riding, as well as proper use and maintenance of the bicycle.
Riders must have the physical condition, reaction time, and mental capability to ride and manage traffic, road conditions, and sudden situations. Riders should also familiarize themselves with local bylaws regarding riding an E-Bike.
If you have any impairment (hearing, physical, cognitive/language) or a seizure disorder, consult your physician before riding any bicycle.
Before Your 1st Ride:
Failure to confirm proper installation, compatibility, operation, or maintenance of any component or accessory can result in serious injury or death. Ensure correct setup, tightening, and torqueing to recommended values have been completed on your bike.
Before the first ride, familiarize yourself with all the bicycle's features. Practice and become proficient at shifting gears, applying the brakes, using the pedal-assist system, and using the throttle in a controlled setting before riding in more risky conditions. If you plan to ride at night, familiarize yourself with the lights and signals.
Regular Inspection:
Please ensure the bike works properly and safely before each ride. Inspect key components, including brakes, brake sensors, throttle, and pedal-assist sensor. Ensure all hardware, such as the handlebar, hand grips, seat, seat post, and pedals are secured in place. Have your bike inspected by a licensed mechanic regularly, depending on the bike's condition.
Do not use this product with standard bike trailers, stands, vehicle racks, or accessories that have not been tested for safety and compatibility and verified as safe and compatible with the bike by EMMO E-Bikes. Contact EMMO E-Bikes if you have any questions or concerns.
Extreme Riding:
E-Bikes and e-bike parts have strength and integrity limitations. Avoid extreme riding, such as jumps, stunts, or any riding that exceeds your capabilities, as you risk damaging components or becoming seriously injured or killed.

Rules and Regulations of Riding an E-Bike
According to Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations (MVSR), a qualified e-bike (defined as Power Assist Bicycle) must meet the following requirements:
- The e-bike must have operable pedals.
- The upper wattage limit for the motor is 500W.
- The maximum speed of an e-bike is 32 km/h.
Other requirements include a permanently affixed compliance label from the manufacturer stating that the vehicle is a power-assisted bicycle under statutory requirements in force at the time of manufacture. Currently, no license, insurance, or vehicle registration is required to operate a qualified e-bike according to federal legislation. E-Bike riders share the same rights and responsibilities as other road users.
However, provinces and local municipalities have the power to restrict the use of e-bikes. Most provinces require the rider to wear a helmet. Some provinces have special requirements regarding age limits, helmet types, and even wheel size. In Ontario, e-bikes are generally treated the same as regular bicycles. According to the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), the age limit to operate an e-bike is 16 years old and above; the maximum weight of the bike is 120 kilograms (265 pounds); the bike must have a brake distance of less than 9 meters; any modifications made to the bike's motor to create speeds greater than 32 km/h are prohibited.
As rules and regulations are subject to change in different provinces and municipalities, please check your municipal bylaw to understand your local regulations.

Warning: The wires connected to the circuit breaker may carry high voltage. DO NOT touch any bare wires. If you have concerns, contact your EMMO dealer for assistance.
12. How to Charge
Charge the battery before its strength drops below 20%. Ensure you are using a compatible charger; using an incompatible charger can be dangerous.
- The charger typically has two cables: one connects to the bike's charging port, and the other connects to a regular 110V wall outlet.
- The charger has a sticker indicating the compatible battery voltage and capacity (e.g., '72V' for a 72V bike, '20Ah' for battery capacity).
- The charging port is located below the front of the seat.
- Plug the charger into a regular 110V wall outlet.
- Open the charging port lid and plug in the charger.
- Once fully charged, unplug the charger from the wall outlet first, then from the bike.
Charger Indicators:
- Gel Lead-Acid Chargers: Usually have one indicator. Red light means charging; Green light means fully charged or not properly connected.
- Lithium Chargers (Higher Output): May have two indicators:
- POWER Indicator (Red): Charger is connected to the power outlet.
- CHARGE Indicator:
- Red: Charger is disconnected from the bike.
- Amber: Battery is charging.

13. How to Ride the Bike
- Remove the bike from the centre stand or side kickstand.
- Sit on the bike and put on a helmet or required protective gear.
- With your feet on the floor, turn the bike on using the key ignition.
- When ready, twist the throttle to begin riding.
14. Safety Instructions
To ensure your safety and the safety of others:
- Do not ride after taking medication that may affect your riding ability, after drinking alcohol, or when unwell.
- Familiarize yourself with local e-bike bylaws.
- Check road and weather conditions to actively avoid danger.
- Wear necessary protective equipment, such as a helmet, if required by local bylaws.
- Perform a basic inspection before each ride:
- Battery Strength: Ensure sufficient charge for the trip.
- Tire Pressure: Check tire pressure against the limits indicated on the tire casing. Insufficient pressure affects performance.
- Brakes: Verify both brakes are in good working condition.
- Lights/Signals: Ensure headlight, signal lights, tail light, and brake light are functioning correctly. Ensure a working rear reflector/tail light if riding at night.
15. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential for optimal bike performance.
Cleaning:
- Use clean water and neutral detergent. Use soft cloths or sponges. Avoid metal brushes, sandpaper, or abrasive materials to prevent scratches. Dry with soft cloths.
- Clean and grease the chain and sprockets.
Warning: Turn off the circuit breaker and remove the battery (if applicable) before cleaning. DO NOT power wash the e-bike.
Storage:
- For storage exceeding one month (e.g., winter storage), charge the battery regularly (at least once a month) and turn off the circuit breaker.
- Store the bike, battery, and charger in a clean, dry, ventilated place. Avoid freezing temperatures for the battery. Keep away from corrosive materials and heat sources.
Regular Inspection:
A full inspection/tune-up is recommended every 3000 km or every 6 months, depending on the bike's condition.
