This document provides comprehensive instructions for the AURA STORM-678DSP, a digital sound processor Bluetooth/USB/FM receiver.

Installation
Mounting the Receiver:
- Install the mounting sleeve into the standard 1DIN slot provided by the vehicle manufacturer. For 2DIN slots, use AURA brand adapter frames.
- Use a screwdriver to bend the metal tabs on the mounting sleeve outwards to secure it in place.
- Check electrical connections. Connect the main harness to the unit. Verify system functionality before final mounting.
- Insert the unit into the mounting sleeve and slide it in until it clicks into place.
Note: Some vehicles (e.g., TOYOTA, HONDA) may use screws to mount the unit directly to existing brackets, in which case the mounting sleeve is not used.
Connections
Power Connection
Ensure your vehicle's voltage is +12V. Remove the fuse before connecting.
- Connect the Yellow wire (A4) to a constant +12V power source.
- Connect the Red wire (A7) to the ACC ignition terminal.
- Connect the Black wire (A8) to the vehicle's metal chassis (ground).
- Connect the Blue wire (A5) to the amplifier remote turn-on or active antenna power input.
- Connect the Orange wire (A6) to a circuit that receives +12V when parking lights are on.
- Connect the remaining wires according to the diagram.
Note: To prevent high current draw and unstable operation, if the Red wire (A7) is connected to constant +12V (along with Yellow A4), set "CAR ACC" to "NO" in the SYSTEM menu.
Audio & RCA Cable Connections
- 1L-2R: RCA outputs for Left Channel 1 and Right Channel 2.
- 3L-4R: RCA outputs for Left Channel 3 and Right Channel 4.
- SUB-SUB: RCA outputs for the subwoofer.
Connections Diagram Description:
- ANT: Antenna input (antenna not included).
- MIC: External microphone input (microphone not included).
- Steering Wheel Control (SWC) Connections: A1 (Brown/Black), A2 (Brown), A8 (Black/Ground).
Wiring Diagram Description:
- Yellow Wire: Constant +12V power.
- Red Wire: ACC +12V ignition.
- Blue Wire: Remote turn-on / +12V control.
- Black Wire: Ground (-).
- Speaker Outputs (B1-B8): Labeled for Left/Right channels and positive/negative connections.
Front Panel Controls
The front panel features various buttons and a display for operation:
- Power/Source Button: Turns the unit on/off or cycles through sources.
- Volume/Menu Knob: Adjusts volume, navigates menus, and confirms selections.
- LCD Display: Shows information and menu options.
- IR Receiver: For the remote control.
- RST Button: Resets the unit to factory settings.
- USB Port: For USB media playback and charging.
- Microphone: For calls and voice commands.
- Band/Mode Button: Selects radio bands (FM1, FM2, FM3), answers/ends calls, or activates voice assistant.
- Mute Button: Temporarily silences audio output.
- Return/Search Button: Navigates back or searches.
- Preset 1 / Folder Up Button: Selects preset 1 or moves to the previous folder.
- Preset 2 / Folder Down Button: Selects preset 2 or moves to the next folder.
- Preset 3 / Repeat Button: Selects preset 3 or sets repeat mode.
- Previous Track / Rewind Button: Skips to the previous track or rewinds.
- Next Track / Fast Forward Button: Skips to the next track or fast forwards.
- Preset 4 / Random Button: Selects preset 4 or sets random playback.
- Preset 5 / Pause Button: Selects preset 5 or pauses playback.
- Preset 6 / Scan Button: Selects preset 6 or scans tracks.
- Display Info/Off Button: Shows display information or turns off the display.
- AUX Input: For connecting external audio sources.
Remote Control
Dimensions
The unit has standard DIN dimensions: Width 182mm, Height 53mm, Depth 178mm (front panel), 108mm (body height), 50mm (mounting depth), 25mm (front to mounting sleeve depth).
Battery Replacement
The remote control uses a CR-2025 battery. Remove the protective tab before first use. To replace the battery, pull out the battery holder, replace the old battery with a new one (observing polarity: + side up), and reinsert the holder.
Remote Control Buttons
- Power/Source: Turns the unit on/off or selects source.
- Volume Up/Down: Adjusts audio volume.
- Band/Mode: Selects radio bands or modes.
- Previous Track/Seek: Skips to previous track or seeks radio stations.
- Next Track/Seek: Skips to next track or seeks radio stations.
- Source: Selects audio source.
- Mute: Mutes audio.
- Call/Clock: Answers/ends calls, displays clock.
- Preset 1/Folder Up: Selects preset 1 or moves up a folder.
- Preset 2/Folder Down: Selects preset 2 or moves down a folder.
- Preset 3/Repeat: Selects preset 3 or sets repeat mode.
- Preset 4/Random: Selects preset 4 or sets random playback.
- Preset 5/Pause: Selects preset 5 or pauses playback.
- Preset 6/Scan: Selects preset 6 or scans tracks.
- Radio Mode (Mono/Stereo): Selects radio reception mode.
- Loudness: Activates bass boost for low frequencies.
- AMS (Auto Scan): Scans and stores radio stations.
- Source Select: Selects audio source.
- EQ Preset: Selects equalizer presets.
- LOC (Local): Adjusts tuner sensitivity.
Remote Control Usage: Aim the remote's emitter at the unit's sensor. Operating range is up to 5 meters with a 30-degree angle. Ensure the battery is not depleted.
Basic Operations
Power On/Off
Press any button to turn the unit on. Press and hold the Power/Source button (1) to turn it off.
Volume Control
Rotate the Volume/Menu knob (2) to adjust the volume level.
Source Selection
Press the Power/Source button (1) to cycle through sources: Radio, USB, AUX, Bluetooth.
Mute
Press the Mute button (9) to silence the audio.
Menu Navigation
Press the Volume/Menu knob (2) and rotate to select a menu section: AUDIO, DISPLAY, TUNER, SYSTEM, BLUETOOTH. Press the knob again to enter the selected section.
Audio Settings (AUDIO)
EQ Setting (Equalizer)
- Custom: Manual 31-band EQ (-9dB to +9dB).
- EQ Reset: Resets EQ settings.
- Presets: Flat, Classic, Rock, Pop, Easy, Top 40, JAZZ, Vocal, Country, Superbass, Natural, Electric, Powerfull, Dynamic.
Q-factor (Q-Factor)
Level: Adjusts the Q-factor coefficient.
Bass Boost
Enables and adjusts low-frequency boost (5 levels).
Loudness
Enables and adjusts loudness compensation (2 levels).
Subwoofer Settings
- Output: Enable/disable subwoofer output.
- SW Level: Adjusts subwoofer volume.
Fader
Adjusts relative volume between front (1/2) and rear (3/4) channels.
Balance
Adjusts relative volume between left and right channels.
Volume Step
Selects the volume adjustment step (1, 2, or 3).
Volume Limit
Sets the maximum possible volume level.
Power on Volume
Sets the volume level when the receiver is turned on.
X-Over (Crossover)
1/2 Channel (Front): Settings for HPF (High-Pass Filter), LPF (Low-Pass Filter), slope, level, and phase for channels 1 and 2.
- HPF FRQ: Cutoff frequency (Off, 25Hz - 12.5kHz).
- HPF SLOPE: Slope (6 - 48 dB/octave).
- LPF FRQ: Cutoff frequency (Off, 25Hz - 12.5kHz).
- LPF SLOPE: Slope (6 - 48 dB/octave).
- GAIN: Level for channels 1/2 (-8dB to 0dB).
- PHASE: Phase setting (0° / 180°).
3/4 Channel (Rear): Settings for HPF, LPF, slope, level, and phase for channels 3 and 4.
- HPF FRQ: Cutoff frequency (Off, 25Hz - 12.5kHz).
- HPF SLOPE: Slope (6 - 48 dB/octave).
- LPF FRQ: Cutoff frequency (Off, 25Hz - 12.5kHz).
- LPF SLOPE: Slope (6 - 48 dB/octave).
- GAIN: Level for channels 3/4 (-8dB to 0dB).
- PHASE: Phase setting (0° / 180°).
Subwoofer X-Over
- HPF FRQ: Cutoff frequency (25Hz - 100Hz / Off).
- HPF SLOPE: Slope (6 -48 dB/octave).
- LPF FRQ: Cutoff frequency (30Hz - 800Hz / Off).
- LPF SLOPE: Slope (6 -48 dB/octave).
- GAIN: Level (-8dB to 0dB).
- PHASE: Phase setting (0° / 180°).
- X'over reset: Resets crossover settings.
DTA Setting (Delay)
Important: Delay settings start with the furthest speaker. Adjust other speakers relative to it.
- Delay (Distance/Delay): Set delay for each channel. SUB delays are synchronized.
- Gain (Level): Set signal level for each channel. SUB gains are synchronized.
- DTA reset: Resets delay settings.
- Delay units: Select units (cm or ms).
Saving DSP Presets
You can save up to 6 custom settings (presets) and switch between them.
Note: Requires the Aura Lab app for saving/recalling presets. Settings are retained when power is disconnected.
- Select a preset slot (1-6) in the Aura Lab app.
- Adjust EQ, delay, and crossover settings. These will be saved to the selected preset.
- Repeat for other presets.
- To recall a preset, select the desired preset number in the app.
QR codes are provided for downloading the Aura Lab app for iOS and Android.
Display Settings (Display)
- Color select: Adjusts RGB backlight color.
- Dimmer: Adjusts backlight brightness (On/Off, 2 levels). Connect Orange wire (A6) to +12V for parking light function.
- Spectrum: Toggles frequency spectrum display.
Tuner (Radio) Settings
- Local seek: Enables/disables local seek tuning.
- Stereo set: Enables/disables stereo reception.
- Regional: Selects broadcast region (Europe, USA, Asia, Russia).
Bluetooth Settings
- Enable: Turns Bluetooth on/off.
- PIN-code edit: Changes the Bluetooth pairing PIN.
- MIC gain: Adjusts microphone input level.
System Settings (System)
- Beep: Enables/disables button beep sound.
- AUX IN: Enables/disables AUX input.
- SWC: For programming steering wheel controls. See page 18 for details.
- Car ACC (ACC Position): Select 'Yes' if the Red ACC wire is connected to the ignition ACC terminal. Select 'No' if the Red wire is connected to constant +12V (for vehicles without ACC). BT and USB will be disabled when the unit is off if 'No' is selected.
- Animation: Enables/adjusts animation display interval (Off, 15/30 sec, 1/2/4 min).
- Demo mode: Enables/disables demo mode.
- Factory reset: Resets the unit to factory defaults.
- Version: Displays current firmware version.
Radio Operations
Saving & Recalling Stations
- Press and hold a number button (1-6) to save the current station.
- Press a number button (1-6) to recall a saved station. Up to 6 stations can be saved per band (FM1, FM2, FM3).
Band Selection
Press the BAND button (8) to select radio bands: FM1, FM2, FM3.
Automatic Station Scan
Press and hold the SEEK button (10) for over 2 seconds to perform a quick scan and save strong signal stations (18 FM, 12 AM).
Manual Station Scan
Press the seek buttons (14 or 15) to step through frequencies. Hold them to enter auto-seek mode.
USB Operations
Connecting USB Device
Connect a USB drive to the front panel port. The unit supports playback of FLAC, WAV, APE, AAC, MP3 files. The USB port also charges mobile devices.
Note: File encoding and format may affect playback quality.
Track Navigation
- Press buttons (14 or 15) to switch between tracks.
- Hold buttons (14 or 15) to fast rewind or fast forward.
Playback Control
- Press button (17) to pause/resume playback.
Track Scan
Press button (18) INT to play the first 10 seconds of each track.
Repeat Modes
Press button (13) to select repeat modes: Repeat Folder, Repeat One, Repeat All.
Random Playback
Press button (16) to select random playback modes: Random Folder, Random All, Random Off.
Folder Navigation
- Press buttons (12 or 11) to switch between folders.
- Hold buttons (12 or 11) to skip 10 tracks forward or backward.
Bluetooth Operations
Pairing with Phone
- Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device.
- Find "STORM-678DSP" in the list of available devices and connect. The PIN code is 1234. Note: Do not pair with the BLE channel.
- The BT indicator on the receiver will stop flashing upon successful pairing.
- Audio (music and calls) will be streamed to the car's speakers.
Making Calls
- Outgoing Call: Dial from your phone; it will use the car's hands-free system.
- Incoming Call: The caller's number will display. Press button (8) to answer.
- End Call: Press and hold button (8) to hang up.
- Redial: Press and hold button (8) to call the last dialed number. Press button (8) to activate Siri.
- Switch Audio: During a call, press button (8) to switch audio between the phone and the car's system.
- Volume Control: Rotate the volume knob during a call. Press MUTE (9) to silence.
Bluetooth Music (A2DP)
Stream music from your smartphone. Use buttons (14 or 15) to change tracks, and button (17) to pause/resume.
AUX Input
Connect an external audio source using a 3.5mm AUX cable (sold separately).
Reset & Updates
Reset
Press and hold the RST button (5) for 10 seconds to reset the unit to factory settings.
Firmware Update
Visit www.aurael.ru for the latest firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and new features.
Aura Lab App
Most settings are accessible via the Aura Lab mobile app (Android/iOS). Install the app from your app store and connect via Bluetooth.
Steering Wheel Control (SWC) Programming
This feature allows programming of factory steering wheel buttons for control. It requires resistive buttons and a common ground connection.
Wiring: Connect the "WHEEL GND" wire to the unit's GND (A8). Connect "WHEEL KEY A" and "WHEEL KEY B" to A1 and A2 respectively.
Voltage Range: 0.3V to 3.3V. Ensure sufficient voltage difference between button presses.
Caution: Incorrect wiring may lead to improper operation. Consult a dealer or certified installer for correct wiring.
Programming Procedure:
- Navigate to SYSTEM > SWC.
- Select SWC bank (1 or 2).
- Enable SWC (YES).
- Press Back, then select PROGRAM. The display will show "PRESS KEY 1".
- Press the steering wheel button you wish to program. The display will show "CHOOSE KEY 1".
- Select a button on the head unit to assign the function. The display will show "PRESS KEY 2".
- Repeat for all desired buttons.
- Press the volume knob to save settings. The display will show "SAVED x KEYS".
Up to 9 functions can be programmed. To disable programmed buttons, set ENABLE to NO in the SWC menu.
