Place proottective material onn top of front fender to pprootect paint from scratches or oother damage. 22.. Standing at the front oof the motorrcyyccllee,, ll,oQoQselln!l the three T227 TORX screws (Numbers 1, 2 & 3 in the iImage to the right) just belooww the winddshhiielldd. 33.. Raise and remove the windshield from betweenn the inner andd oouuter fairings. 4.. Moving to the inner fairing side, removee the two T2277 TORX screws outboard of the speakers (Numbers 4 &5 in the image to the right) onn the left anndd right side. 5. Tum the handlebar to the right and remove the T-27 TORX screw (Number 6 In the Image to the right) by reaching iIn belooww the left side of the fair ing cap. 66. Tum the hanndlebar to the lleft and remove the T-2277 TORX screw (Number 7 in the image to the rright) bbelow right side of the fairing cap. CAAUTTION: Onn FLHX moddels, be sure to holdd tthe oout- er fairing inn posittiioonn as the last sscreww Iis rreemooved. Without auxiliarry lamps to hoolldd It In ppoossition, tthhe outer fairing wwiill drop, possibly ressuullttiinngg Iin fairing or fender damage. 7.. Returrnning to the front of the moottoorrccyycdlee,, remove the three screws bbelow the windshield.. 88.. TIiliting the outer fairing forrwward, remoovvee hheeaad llaamp connnector at the bback of the head lamp assembly.. 8. Llift the oouuter fairing off the motorcycle. Place protective material on top of front fender to protect paint from scratches or other damage. 2. Remove the ttwwo T-25 Toonnee screws at edge of fairing outboard of the left andd right speakers (Numbers 3 & 4 in image A)).. 3.. 1.L.QQ.QQlnlnl the two T-25 Tonne screws in the top left and right jjust outboard of the fuel and volt gauges, rreespectively (Number 11 & 2 Iin image A). 4. Remove the two T-25 screws jjust below left side glove compartment (Numbers 5 & 6 in image A). 5. On inboard side of right fairing support, remove the rear acorrnn nuts (Numbers 11 & 2 in Image B) from the studs of front tum sig- nals (left and rightt)).. Pull front tum signal lamp aassemblies from the motorcycdle and allow them to hang at the front of engine guard. · 6. Remove the top left and right screws jjust outboard of the fuel and volt gauges, respectively (previously loosened in step ##33)).. 8. Raise outer fairing slightly and then rest on protective fender pad. 9. Squeeze two exterrnnal tabs to disconnectt headlamp jjumper har- ness connector. 10. To avoid possible wire damage, ddisconnect front tum signal lamp connectors and move to bench area. RRaddiioo RReemmoovvaall Remmove the radio fromm the dash cavity aas follows: 1. Disconnect and remove the CB module (Number 4 in image C, if equipped) from the factory radio. To do this disconnect the CB antenna and the 12 pin connector from the CB module. Once the connectors have bbeen removed, remove the screw to separate the CB module from the radio. 2. Disconnect the radio ccoonnectors bbeehind the radio (See Iimage C to the right). Not all mmotorcycdles will be eeqquuipped with conneeccttoorr## 2. 3.. Using a long shank ball end socket, remove four 6mm hex bolts screws (ttwwo on rightt,, ttwwo on left) to release radioo or storage (FLHT) from left and right radio support brackets. Use oblong holes in fairing brackets to access scrreews. (See image D to the right for reference 4. Pull radio or storage box (FLHTD) forrwward (towards front) to remove from opening in inner fairing.
