Getting Started
Onscreen instructions are available for all test methods.
Select Test: The instrument interface displays a list of available tests. A visual shows a hand icon selecting an option from a list that includes tests like "Bromine, Total XR", "Calcium Hardness", "Cal Hardness (Salt Pools)", "Chloride", and "Chlorine and Chloramines", each with associated measurement units and values.
Sample Preparation (Instruction 3/6): A visual guide demonstrates sample preparation. It shows a vial being filled with liquid, a tablet being added, and the vial being shaken. The text accompanying this visual reads: "Prepare sample by adding a Calcicol No1 tablet. Crush and stir." Navigation buttons "BACK" and "NEXT" are indicated.
Test Guide Screen: A visual shows a "Calcium Hardness" test screen with options to "Test Guide", "Blank", and "Measure".
Achieving Accurate Results
Blanking
Blanking is critical and sets the zero level for each test. Usually, the blank is a sample without any reagents added. The onscreen instructions show blanking as the first few steps, however, the "blank" can be prepared in a separate tube and blanking carried out just prior to the measurement step.
Best Practice When Testing
Equipment Preparation:
- Rinse equipment thoroughly with deionised water or the water being tested.
- Measure volumes accurately as shown (or use a pipettor or syringe).
- Use the correct Palintest reagents and observe all safety information supplied with them.
Testing Procedure:
- Check for bubbles and remove as shown.
- Align tubes as shown. Always use the tube cap as it excludes light from the optics.
- Keep instrument clean. Dry all tubes before placing in the optical cell.
Instrument Calibration:
Verify instrument calibration. Check Standards are available for your Lumiso Expert. Use these regularly to confirm that the instrument is within calibration.
