V CAST Music
V CAST Music allows Verizon Wireless customers to enjoy music on their handset, purchase music from a PC, and transfer music via USB cable.
Purchasing Music on the Phone
- Access the Get It Now menu.
- Navigate to Music & Tones, then V CAST Music.
- Browse by category, artist, album, or song.
- Select a song, press "BUY", confirm the purchase, and then select "OK" to download.
Playing Music on the Phone
Access My Music via Get It Now > Music & Tones to play music stored on the handset or memory card.
Purchasing Music on the PC
- Open Windows Media Player 10.
- Select V CAST Music from the online store options.
- Sign in with your username and password.
- Browse and select music, then press "BUY".
- Confirm purchase and download.
Syncing Music from PC to Phone
- Connect the phone to the PC using a USB cable.
- Open Windows Media Player 10 and select the Sync tab.
- On the handset, navigate to Get It Now > Music & Tones > My Music > Sync Music.
- In WMP 10, select "Edit Playlist" and choose songs to sync.
- Select the phone or memory card as the storage location.
- Start the sync process.
- Disconnect the cable upon completion.
VZNavigator
VZNavigator is a downloadable application providing turn-by-turn directions, location mapping, and points-of-interest lookup.

VZ Navigator Requires Location On
To set location:
- From the main screen, press "OK".
- Navigate to Settings & Tools menu.
- Go to "Phone Settings", then "Location", and select "Location On".
To Access Location Based Services
- Access the "Get It Now" Menu.
- Select "Tools on the Go", then "Get New App.".
- Navigate to "Travel & Guides", select "VZ Navigator", and press "OK".
Bluetooth Pairing
Follow these steps to pair your Bluetooth device with the Samsung SCH-u540:
- Press OK to enter the Menu.
- Navigate to Settings & Tools.
- Select the Bluetooth menu (Press 3).
- Choose "Add New Device" (Press 1).
- If Bluetooth is off, enable it.
- Follow the device's user guide to enter pairing mode.
- Once the device is found, press OK for PAIR.
- Enter the passkey (typically 0000).
- Press OK to connect.
Supported Profiles: HSP, HFP, DUN, SPP, & OPP for vCard.

OTA Instructions
- Perform billing system activation.
- Power up, enter OTA Code *228, and press Send.
- Follow audio prompts for programming or roaming capabilities.
Manually Programming the Samsung SCH-u540
- Menu > Setting & Tools > * > enter "000000".
- Press "3" for Network Settings.
- Input Phone Number (MDN) and press OK.
- Input NMSID (MIN) and press OK.
- Input Home SID and Home NID, press OK.
- Input other settings and press OK.
- Press Left Soft Key to Exit.
View Software Version
Menu > Settings & Tools > Phone Info > SW Version.
Send a Text Message
- Left soft key > New Message > TXT Message.
- Enter recipient number or select from Contacts.
- Type message and press OK to SEND.
Advanced Speech Recognition – Voice Dialing
Activate by pressing and holding the Voice Command key. Say "Call", then the name or number. The phone will prompt for confirmation if needed.
Access the Web
Navigate upward from the main screen to launch the web browser.
Using a microSD™ Memory Card
The microSD card provides removable memory storage functionality. Files can be transferred between the PC, handset, and memory card.

Advantage: Access Verizon's extensive music library, listen to new music, and catch breaking news.
Operation: Access via Get It Now > Music & Tones > V CAST Music. Browse, select, and purchase songs. Download to phone or memory card.
Sync Music
Advantage: Sync music from PC to phone and share files easily.
Operation: Connect phone to PC via USB. Use Windows Media Player 10 Sync tab. Select songs, sync to phone/card. Ensure phone is in Sync Music mode.
V CAST Video
Advantage: Download and play full motion video clips, including music videos, news, and sports.
Operation: Access via Navigation Key left > V CAST Videos. Follow instructions to download clips.
Voice Commands
Advantage: Get audible readouts for menus, digit dials, or call announcements.
Operation: Menu > Setting & Tools > Tools > Voice Commands. Select command type and turn ON.
