Brother MFC-T920DW / MFC-T925DW Quick Setup Guide
This guide provides instructions for setting up your Brother MFC-T920DW/MFC-T925DW machine. Please read the Product Safety Guide first.
Getting Started
Follow steps 1 to 10 to complete the setup.
Step 1: Unpack and Check Components
Unpack the machine and verify all components are present. Remove protective tape and film from the machine. Save all packing materials.
Note: Components may vary by country. A USB 2.0 cable (Type A/B) up to 2 meters is recommended. A Category 5 (or greater) twisted-pair cable is needed for Ethernet connection.
Step 2: Load Paper
Load plain A4 paper into the paper tray. Fan the paper well before loading.
Step 3: Connect Power
Connect the power cord. The machine will power on automatically.
Step 4: Select Country or Language
Follow the LCD prompts to set your country or language if required.
Step 5: Fill Ink Tanks
Fill the ink tanks with the provided ink. Ensure you use the correct ink bottle model. Check the ink bottle label. Do not fill past the maximum mark.
Instructions:
- Open the ink tank cover.
- Remove the ink bottle cap.
- Place the cap on the back of the cover.
- Remove the nozzle cap from the ink bottle.
- Insert the bottle nozzle firmly into the ink tank. The ink will fill automatically.
- Once the bottle is empty, remove it with the nozzle pointing upwards to prevent spillage.
- Replace the ink tank cap. Repeat for other ink tanks and close the cover.
Important: Using incorrect ink may damage the machine.
Step 6: Set Date and Time
Follow the LCD prompts to set the date and time.
Step 7: Machine Settings
After initial cleaning, follow the LCD prompts to configure machine settings, such as firmware update notices, print quality, and paper tray settings.
Step 8: Select Language (if applicable)
If your model requires it, select your language from the initial setup menu.
- Press Settings.
- Navigate to [Initial Setup] > [Local Language] and select your language.
- Press OK.
- Press Stop/Exit.
Step 9: Connect Telephone Line Cord
If you are using the fax function, connect the telephone line cord to the socket marked LINE. If not using fax, proceed to step 10.

Step 10: Connect Computer or Mobile Device
Connect your Brother machine and computer/mobile device to the same network.
For Computers: Visit setup.brother.com
For Mobile Devices: Visit brother.com/apps
Install the Brother iPrint&Scan application.
Wired Network Connection and USB Connection: Use the correct port as indicated.
Manual Wireless Setup (if needed)
Find your wireless router's SSID (Network Name) and Network Key (Password).
- Go to your machine and press WiFi.
- Select [Find Wi-Fi Network].
- Press to select Yes when prompted [Enable WLAN?].
- Select your network's SSID and enter the Network Key.
When wireless setup is successful, the LCD will display [Connected].
Setup Complete
Your Brother machine is now set up.

Control Panel Overview
Familiarize yourself with the control panel buttons:
- 1. LCD: 1.8" (44.9 mm) Liquid Crystal Display.
- 2. Mode buttons: Selects the operating mode.
- 3. Settings buttons: Accesses menus for configuration.
- 4. Telephone buttons: For fax dialing.
- 5. Dial Pad: For entering numbers.
- 6. Stop/Exit button: Cancels operations or exits menus.
- 7. Mono Start/Colour Start buttons: Initiates print jobs.
- 8. Power On/Off: Turns the machine on or off.
Machine Settings
Machine settings are managed via the Brother iPrint&Scan or Brother Utilities application on your computer or mobile device. For network security, it is recommended to change the default password found on the back of the machine (marked "Pwd"). Refer to the Online User's Guide for instructions.
Check Ink Volume
Monitor ink levels. Do not fill past the maximum fill mark. Refill tanks when the ink level reaches the lower line.
Improve Print Quality
If print quality degrades, perform a print head cleaning. Follow the on-screen prompts to select cleaning options (Black only, Colour only, All) and intensity (Normal, Strong, Strongest).
