Super Vac V16-BL Positive Pressure Ventilator User Guide
Model: V16-BL
Introduction
This manual provides descriptions, cautions, operation instructions, and maintenance guidelines for the Super Vac V16-BL Positive Pressure Ventilator. It is recommended to read this manual thoroughly before operating the ventilator and keep it for future reference.
1. Breakage or Damage During Shipment
The transportation company is responsible for all shipping damage. To file a claim:
- Examine all shipping cases upon arrival.
- If damage is found, immediately contact your transportation agent and have them describe the damage and number of pieces on the freight or express bill.
- Contact Super Vac to receive the original bill of lading.
- Obtain a claim blank from the express or truck company, fill it out, and attach it to the original bill of lading along with a copy of the invoice and a memo detailing the value of damaged goods.
- Submit these papers to your local transportation agent for processing.
Super Vac does not enter claims for damages directly, as filing claims locally saves time. Goods are sold F.O.B. factory, and Super Vac's responsibility ceases upon delivery to the carrier in good order. Keep all damaged goods available for inspection by the carrier's inspector; disposing of them may void the claim.
2. General Description and Specifications
Super Vac ventilators are designed for convenient and portable air supply and are tested to AMCA Standard 240-15 for extreme conditions.
Model # | RPM | Motor | HxWxD | Weight |
---|---|---|---|---|
V16-BL | 2400 | 1 HP Variable Speed DC | 22.75" x 23" x 12" | 45 lbs |
Specifications are subject to change without notice. The ventilator is designed for high-powered air movement with a dynamically balanced blade for efficiency and longevity.
3. Product Safety Precautions
- Use the ventilator only for its intended purpose.
- Always wear eye and ear protection when operating.
- Never operate while fatigued.
- Do not wear loose clothing that could get entangled.
- Do not disassemble or modify the ventilator, as this can lead to mechanical failure or injury.
- Only allow properly instructed individuals to operate the ventilator.
- Ensure inlet and outlet guards are in place and undamaged. Contact the factory for replacements if needed.
- Never insert fingers or foreign objects through the guards. If an object enters the ventilator, stop the motor immediately and ensure all motion has ceased.
- Use only the indicated voltage.
- Never handle energized power cords with wet hands.
- Do not place or operate on unstable surfaces or in explosive environments.
- Keep extension cords and plug connections out of water.
- Avoid storing or carrying battery packs where metal objects can contact terminals, as this can cause fires.
4. Before Operating Ventilator
- The ventilator is optimized for Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM High Output XC8.0Ah or HD12.0 batteries, but works with any Milwaukee M18 battery.
- Perform a complete inspection before operation:
- Check all threaded fasteners for tightness.
- Check inlet and outlet guards for obstructions and clear the surrounding area of any objects that could be drawn into the intake.
- Replace any damaged or missing guards.
- If using shore/mains power:
- Ensure power cords are not frayed, cut, or brittle.
- Inspect the power cord plug for proper connection to a ground fault interrupter circuit.
Airflow VS Setback Description: The document includes a graph illustrating Airflow (CFM) versus Setback (ft, m) for the V16-BL ventilator. The graph shows airflow decreasing as setback distance increases, with different curves potentially representing different angles or conditions. The maximum airflow is indicated, and specific data points are plotted for various setback distances and angles (e.g., 5°, 10°, 15°, 20°, 25°, 30°). For example, at a 0 ft setback, airflow is around 9,816 CFM, decreasing to approximately 7,223 CFM at a 9 ft (2.7 m) setback at a 30° angle.
5. Operation
- Avoid directing toxic fumes into confined spaces.
- Insert a Milwaukee M18 battery until it clicks; only one battery is needed. Battery removal may become easier with use. An adapter and M18 battery interface are required.
- The fan must be reset (turned off and on) if a new battery is inserted to recognize it.
- If using shore (mains) power, connect to a 110-240V AC source using an extension cord.
- Press and hold the power button until the blue backlight indicates powering up.
- The fan will operate at a minimum speed set by Milwaukee to protect batteries from parasitic draws.
- Turn the speed control clockwise to reach the desired speed.
- The power button's backlight indicates remaining power:
- Green: 50-100%
- Yellow: 20-50%
- Red: 0-20% (Low Battery Warning: Front Facing LED will also flash).
- To turn off, press and hold the power button until the blue backlight disappears.
Battery Runtimes Description: The document provides a graph showing "V16-BL Runtimes (at max speed)" in minutes versus Blade RPM. It compares runtimes for Milwaukee HD 12.0 Ah and XC 8.0 Ah batteries, both as single batteries and potentially in pairs (indicated by "(2) x12 Ah" and "(2) x8.0 Ah"). The graph shows that higher RPMs result in shorter runtimes. Notes explain that runtimes depend on air density, battery condition, elevation, humidity, and temperature. Lower temperatures can decrease battery life.
6. Charging the Battery Packs
- Remove Milwaukee batteries from the fan.
- Insert batteries into a Milwaukee Charger; use only Milwaukee brand chargers.
- If the battery pack temperature is outside the 40-105°F (5-40°C) range, the charger's red light will flash, and charging will not occur.
- Normal charging begins once the battery pack is within the acceptable temperature range.
- Using the Milwaukee SuperCharger™, a 12 Ah battery recharges in 60 minutes, and an 8 Ah battery recharges in 45 minutes.
- Other Milwaukee chargers, including vehicle DC chargers, may take longer.
7. Maintenance and Repair
Maintenance should only be performed by experienced and trained personnel. For questions, contact Super Vac at www.supervac.com or 1-800-525-5224.
Ensure the ventilator is disconnected from power and batteries are removed before any maintenance. The motor is sealed and requires no lubrication. Check the fan blade for build-up of material or dirt that could cause imbalance, leading to wear and vibration. To clean, remove the front guard and clean the blade and housing with a mild detergent and water. Avoid abrasives, sharp instruments, or caustic solvents.
CAUTION:
- Do not store battery packs or chargers above 120°F (50°C) or in direct sunlight.
- Never use or store chargers/batteries in explosive atmospheres.
- Never attempt to open a battery pack. Return cracked or damaged packs to a service center for recycling.
- Do not splash or immerse chargers in water or liquids.
