Vinz Helmets Instruction Manual
Model Standard: ECE 22.06
Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe use, care, and maintenance of your Vinz helmet. Please read it carefully and keep it for future reference.
Important Safety Information
Accidents can happen: Even under ideal conditions, an accident can occur. A minor impact at speeds less than 13 miles per hour can cause serious head injuries. Common sense dictates the need for protection. No helmet can protect the user against all impacts. Open-face helmets offer no protection for the chin in the event of an impact.
Ensuring Proper Fit
A helmet should be snug but not too tight. Once it is seated correctly on your head, tighten the chin strap.
Chin Strap Fastener: The quick-release fastener consists of two parts that click together. The closure can be easily opened again by pulling the red flap back.
The chin strap should be snug enough so that you cannot place your fingers between the strap and your throat, but breathing and swallowing should not be impaired. The chin strap can be loosened or tightened by properly adjusting the buckle.
Fit Test: Once securely fastened, move your head side to side, then up and down. If the helmet slips at all, try a smaller size. Attempt to roll the helmet off your head by firmly pulling upward on the rear of the helmet. A correctly fitting helmet should not be removable in this manner.
Usage in France
When used within the borders of France, you must attach the provided reflective stickers to the helmet. These should be placed on the front, back, and both sides of the helmet.
Modular Helmets
If the helmet is certified with an ECE ‘P’ rating, it is not permitted to ride with the helmet open.
Before You Set Out
- Always check the visor screws on both sides of the helmet before riding. Loose parts can be dangerous. Tighten them if necessary.
- Never ride with a visor open.
- Do not use a tinted visor when riding at night or in other conditions of poor visibility.
- Always fasten your chin strap before heading out.
- Be aware that helmets reduce your ability to hear sounds, especially at higher speeds.
- Sudden temperature variations can cause unexpected misting of the visor, reducing visibility. Be aware of how this affects your perception of trail conditions.
Caring for Your Helmet
Your helmet can be damaged and rendered ineffective by petroleum and petrochemical products, cleaning agents, paints, adhesives, etc., even if the damage is not visible. Use only mild soap and water to clean your helmet. After cleaning, rinse with a damp cloth and let it dry at room temperature. High heat, strong solvents, and gasoline products can damage the liner. Visors should not be excessively cold when being refitted, as they may crack.
Helmet Care and Maintenance
- Do Not Mistreat Your Helmet: Never ride with the helmet hanging from the helmet holder. Do not sit on it or throw it around. Mistreating your helmet like this will damage the shell and shock-absorbing liner, reducing its protective ability.
- Single Impact Design: Helmets are designed to absorb one impact. After protecting you from a major impact, the helmet must be replaced. An impact or fall could seriously impair the helmet's safety, even if there is no visible damage. Never wear a helmet that has sustained an impact of any sort; it is important to purchase a new helmet.
- General Care: Handle your helmet with the utmost care. Keep it a safe distance from exhaust pipes and any heat source. In hot weather, protect your helmet from direct sunlight, especially if it is painted in dark colors. Do not leave the helmet on a motorcycle, scooter, or moped.
- Keep Out of Reach of Pets: Prevent pets from chewing the interior or scratching it, as this damage can be irreparable.
- Shield Care: To clean the exterior and maintain its characteristics, use only warm water and soap. Do not use water rich in chlorine. Never use alcohol or other solvents, or alcohol-based glass cleaners. Always remove the shield before cleaning the inside of your helmet.
- Positioning: Always wear your helmet in its correct position.
- Safe Storage: Do not place the helmet on sharp or rough surfaces to avoid damage to the liner.
- Protection: To ensure adequate protection, the helmet must fit well and be securely fastened. Open-face helmets do not protect the chin in case of impact. This flip-up helmet offers chin protection only when the flip-up part is closed.
- Sun Visor: Visors marked "IF TINTED FOR DAYTIME USE ONLY" or "DAYTIME USE ONLY" are not suitable for use in darkness or poor visibility conditions.
- Visor Durability: The helmet visor should no longer be used if it is deeply scratched or crushed. It is not warranted shatterproof.
Limited Warranty
Within twelve months from the date of purchase, if the helmet is found to be defective in materials or workmanship, it will be repaired or replaced at the supplier's option. This warranty is only for the original purchaser and does not extend to third parties. The warranty period begins on the purchase date and lasts for twelve months. This warranty does not apply to helmets replaced thereafter. In case of a defect covered by this warranty, the purchaser must return the helmet to the establishment where it was originally purchased. Except as expressly provided, the supplier is not responsible for any incident or consequential damages related to a claim under this agreement.
Warnings
Sizing and Proper Positioning
The correct size is important. Follow the manual to determine if the helmet fits. If it is not the correct size, return to the supplier and exchange it for one that fits. Do not ride with a helmet that is too small or too large.
Do Not Modify Your Helmet
Do not alter the helmet's features. Do not scratch, cut, or perforate the shell. Do not insert screws or repaint the helmet. Do not apply paint, decals, gasoline, or other solvents. Do not modify the chin strap, remove rubber rims, or change the padding. Always use original spare parts only.
Do Not Use a Damaged Helmet
Never use a helmet that has suffered an impact. Although there may be no visible external damage, the helmet loses its shock-absorbing functions due to the impact. Essentially, a helmet is no longer able to provide protection after a severe impact. A helmet that has sustained a severe blow must be discarded and replaced.
