Quick Guide: Using Easily in Order
This section provides a quick overview of connecting and using the speaker.
Speaker Components and Connections
The speaker has the following main components:
- A Handle: Used for carrying the product.
- B Controls: The main control panel on the top of the speaker.
- C Speaker: The main body from which sound emanates.
- D Mood lighting: Controls for ambient lighting effects.
- E Woofer: The bass-focused speaker component.
Connection Steps:
- Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the power input terminal at the bottom of the product and then to an electrical outlet.
- Bluetooth Connection:
- Press the [Power] button ⚡ to turn on the product.
- Press and hold the [Function] button until a notification sound is heard; the Bluetooth LED will blink for 60 seconds.
- On your smartphone, navigate to Settings > Bluetooth and turn it on.
- From the list of available devices, find and tap "LG-RP4(XX)".
- Once connected, the Bluetooth LED will turn solid. Play music from your smartphone's music app.
- USB Music Playback:
- Open the back cover and plug a USB storage device into the USB terminal.
- Press the [Power] button ⚡ to turn on the product.
- Press the [Function] button repeatedly to select the USB function; the USB LED will turn on.
- Press the ▶️ / ⏸️ button to enjoy the music.
- External Device Connection (AUX):
- Open the back cover and connect an external device to the AUX. IN terminal using a 3.5 mm stereo cable.
- Press the [Power] button ⚡ to turn on the product.
- Press the [Function] button repeatedly to select AUX; the AUX LED will turn on.
- Play music from the connected external device.
- LG XBOOM App:
- Scan the QR code (for Android or iOS) using a QR code scan app to download and install the LG XBOOM app.
- Alternatively, search for "LG XBOOM" on the Google Play or App Store and install it.
- Run the app and follow the on-screen instructions to use advanced features.
- Power Saving: The product turns off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity. This feature can be enabled or disabled via the LG XBOOM app.
Exploring the Product
Top Panel Controls
The top panel features several controls:
- Mood lighting ?: Press to select desired mood lighting effects (Ambient, Nature, Party, Off). Press and hold to turn off lighting.
- Battery LED: Displays battery charging level and status.
- [Power] Button ⚡: Turns the product on or off. Press and hold for 2 seconds to view battery status via the Battery LED.
- Volume ➕ / ➖: Controls the audio volume level.
- ▶️ / ⏸️ (Play/Pause): Operates music playback. Press once to play/pause, twice quickly for next track, three times quickly for previous track (for USB/BT). For AUX, it functions as mute.
- [Function] Button: Selects input modes (Bluetooth, USB, AUX).
- Function LED: Indicates the current input mode or Bluetooth connection status (BT, USB, AUX).
CAUTION: Keep the product away from children to prevent injury from falls. Be careful not to drop the speaker, as this may cause malfunction or damage.
Back Panel Ports and Buttons
The back panel includes:
- Handle: For carrying.
- Speaker: Sound output area.
- Woofer: Bass speaker.
- Power input: Connect the power cord here.
- Back Cover: Ensure it is fully closed after use.
- [RESET] Button: Press with a sharp object (like a pin) to reset the product if it malfunctions.
- Wireless Party Link LED: Indicates connection status for Twin mode.
- [TWIN] Button: Used to connect two speakers in Wireless Party Link-Twin mode.
- AUX. IN: 3.5 mm stereo jack for connecting external devices.
- USB port: For connecting USB storage devices.
CAUTION: Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent discoloration. The handle may become hot outdoors. Do not press the woofer inadvertently, as it may cause damage.
Charge
Charging the Battery
The speaker has a built-in battery. Charge it sufficiently before first use.
- Connect the power cord to the power input terminal.
- Connect the power plug to an electrical outlet.
Note: Full charging takes approximately 5 hours. Playback time after a full charge is about 10 hours. Charging time may vary.
Checking Battery Status

Note: Playing music while charging may increase charging time.
Use Status: When the product is on, the battery status is displayed on the Battery LED for 3 seconds. Press and hold the [Power] button ⚡ for 2 seconds to view the status again.

Note: Battery status cannot be checked while charging.
Connecting to Bluetooth
Connecting Smartphone to the Speaker via Bluetooth
Play music from Bluetooth-enabled devices.
Bluetooth Specifications: Version 4.0, Codec SBC, AAC.
Connection Steps:
- Turn on the product by pressing the [Power] button ⚡.
- Press and hold the [Function] button until the Bluetooth LED blinks (60 seconds).
- On your smartphone, navigate to Settings > Bluetooth and turn it on.
- Find and tap "LG-RP4(XX)" from the list of connectable devices.
- Once connected, the Bluetooth LED will turn solid. Play music from your smartphone.
- If "LG-RP4(XX)" doesn't appear, refresh the list on Android or restart Bluetooth on iPhone.
- Select and play a track on your smartphone.
Note: Closer proximity improves connection quality. If not connected, the Bluetooth LED blinks. Adjust Bluetooth device volume appropriately. "XX" represents the last two digits of the Bluetooth address. The product can auto-connect to devices with a history when powered on.
Connecting with two smartphones
Pairing multiple phones allows connection of up to two smartphones.
- Connect the product and one smartphone first (as described above).
- Press and hold the [Function] button until the Bluetooth LED blinks.
- Connect a second smartphone within 60 seconds.
When two smartphones are connected, the Bluetooth LED is solid. The product plays music from only one smartphone at a time. If music stops on one, it can be played on the other. Auto-connection after power off/on will be to the last connected or most recently played smartphone. Multi-phone pairing is supported by smartphones; compatibility may vary.
Connecting to USB
Connecting the product to a USB storage device
Enjoy music from USB storage devices.
- Open the back cover and plug the USB storage device into the USB terminal. Note: The product does not support USB hubs, cables, or devices requiring separate drives.
- Press the [Power] button ⚡ to turn on the product.
- Press the [Function] button repeatedly to select the USB function; the USB LED will turn on.
- Press the ▶️ / ⏸️ button to enjoy the music.
Note: Large storage devices may take time to browse. LG Electronics is not liable for data loss; back up data. Only FAT16/FAT32 formats are supported. If the USB device is not recognized, the USB LED blinks; check compatibility and reconnect.

Connecting to an External Device
Connecting via 3.5 mm Stereo Cable
Connect various external devices using a 3.5 mm stereo cable.
- Open the back cover and connect the external device to the AUX. IN terminal using a 3.5 mm stereo cable.
- Press the [Power] button ⚡ to turn on the product.
- Press the [Function] button repeatedly to select AUX; the AUX LED will turn on.
- Play music from the connected external device.
Connecting to the LG XBOOM App
Use the LG XBOOM app for advanced functions.
Requirements: Android OS 5.0+ or iOS OS 10+.
Installing the App
Scan the QR codes provided (for Android Phone OS and iPhone OS) or search for "LG XBOOM" on the Google Play or App Store to download and install.
Steps:
- Install the LG XBOOM app on your smartphone.
- Connect the smartphone to the speaker via Bluetooth.
- Open the LG XBOOM app.
- Follow the app's instructions, agreeing to terms and settings.
- Start using the app's features.
Note: Menu access may vary by smartphone manufacturer and OS. Google, Android, and Google Play are trademarks of Google LLC.
Using the Wireless Party Link-Twin mode
Connect two speakers for a richer sound experience.
Connecting Two Speakers
Requires a second speaker supporting Wireless Party Link.
- Open the back cover and press the [TWIN] button to select either "MAIN" or "OTHER". Select "MAIN" for one speaker and "OTHER" for the second. The respective LEDs will blink.
- Once connected, the MAIN and OTHER LEDs will turn solid.
- Play music from the MAIN product.
Note: Only some functions are available on the OTHER speaker. If either speaker is connected to a TV via Bluetooth, the Twin mode will not work (MAIN/OTHER LEDs blink twice). Disconnect the TV connection first. Twin mode is supported on smartphones; compatibility may vary. Only one Bluetooth device can connect to the MAIN speaker. If a speaker turns off, is connected to a TV via Bluetooth, or the [TWIN] button is pressed, the connection will be lost.
Additional Functions
Resetting the product
Reset the product if it operates improperly.
- Open the back cover and press the [RESET] button ⚡ with a sharp object.
- Turn the product back on by pressing the [Power] button ⚡.
Initialising the Software
This resets Bluetooth connections and settings.
- Press and hold the [Function] button for 7 seconds or longer.
- All function LEDs will blink four times to confirm initialization.
Note: After initialization, reconnect Bluetooth devices.
Deactivating Wireless Network Connections
Set [Auto power-on.] to "off" in the LG XBOOM app and turn off the product using the [Power] button ⚡.
Power Saving Mode
The product turns off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity. This mode can be managed via the LG XBOOM app.

Note: When power saving is off, the product only turns off when the [Power] button ⚡ is pressed or the battery is discharged.

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover. No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel.
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol ⚡ within an equilateral triangle alerts users to uninsulated dangerous voltage.
The exclamation point symbol ⚠️ within an equilateral triangle alerts users to important operating and maintenance instructions.
WARNING: To prevent fire or electric shock, do not expose the product to rain or moisture. Do not install in confined spaces.
CAUTION:
- Do not use high voltage products near this product, as it may malfunction due to electrical shock.
- Keep away from naked flame sources like candles.
- Do not block ventilation openings. Ensure proper ventilation by not placing the product on soft surfaces like beds or rugs.
- Do not expose the apparatus to water (dripping or splashing). Do not place liquid-filled objects like vases on it.
- Refer to the main label on the product for safety marking and supply ratings.
- Ensure children do not insert objects into the speaker duct (a hole for bass sound).
Power Cord Precautions
The Power Plug is the disconnecting device and must remain accessible. Check specifications for current requirements. Do not overload outlets. Examine cords periodically for damage. Protect cords from physical abuse (twisting, pinching, etc.). Use only the supplied AC adapter; using others may void the warranty.
Laser Device Information
This product uses a Laser System. Read the manual carefully for proper use. Contact authorized service for maintenance. Do not attempt to open the enclosure to prevent hazardous radiation exposure.
Battery Precautions
CAUTION: Risk of fire or explosion if the battery is replaced with an incorrect type.
Built-in Battery: Do not store or transport at pressures below 11.6 kPa or above 15,000 m altitude. Avoid incorrect battery replacement, disposal in fire, crushing, or exposure to extreme temperatures or low air pressure, as these can cause explosion or leakage.

Things to Check before Reporting Malfunction
Troubleshooting
Symptom: Power is not supplied.
- Cause/Solution: Battery is discharged. Recharge the battery using the power cord.
Symptom: No sound or distorted sound.
- Cause/Solution: Product or connected Bluetooth device volume is too low. Adjust to an appropriate level. Using an external device at maximum volume may cause distortion; lower its volume.
Symptom: USB storage device is not recognised.
- Cause/Solution: The USB storage device's file system may not be supported. Format the USB storage device and reconnect it, ensuring it uses a supported file system (refer to "Connecting to USB" section).
Symptom: Bluetooth connection failed.
- Cause/Solution: Check if Bluetooth is enabled on the device. Turn Bluetooth off and on again. Ensure no obstacles between the product and the Bluetooth device. Pairing may fail due to device type or environment.
Symptom: The product does not operate normally.
- Cause/Solution: Battery discharge may delete Bluetooth information; power interruptions may prevent saving settings. Use in environments with moderate temperature and humidity. If the problem persists, contact LG Electronics Customer Service. If the power LED alternates between red and orange during charging, unplug the power.
Symptom: The above solutions do not work.
- Cause/Solution: Use a sharp object to press the [RESET] button ⚡ (see "Resetting the product").
