Portable Bluetooth Speaker Quick Guide

Connecting and Using the Speaker

Step 1: Connect the power cord to the product by opening the rear cover and charge it before use.

Connecting the speaker to a smartphone via Bluetooth

You can play music files stored on a Bluetooth device or run music apps to enjoy music with this product.

Please check the following first:

• Bluetooth specifications: Version 5.1, Codec: SBC, AAC.
• Connection method may vary by device model. Refer to the Bluetooth device's user manual.

Steps:

1. Press the [Power] button to turn on the product.
2. Press the [Function] button repeatedly to select the BT function. The BT LED blinks.
3. On your smartphone, tap the ⚙️ and select Bluetooth. Turn on the Bluetooth function. (Off ➡️ On)
4. From the list of smartphone devices, find and tap on “LG-XL7S(XX)”.
5. Once connected via Bluetooth, the BT LED will turn on. Play your desired track in the music app.

Playing Music from the USB

Steps:

1. Open the back cover and plug the USB storage device into the USB terminal.
2. Press the [Power] button to turn on the product.
3. Press the [Function] button repeatedly to select the USB function. The USB LED will turn on.
4. Press the [Play/Pause] button to enjoy the music.

Connecting to the LG XBOOM App

Installing app

Use the LG XBOOM app for speaker functions. Install by scanning the QR code or searching for "LG XBOOM app" on Google Play or the App Store.

App Requirements:

• Android OS: Version 6.0 or higher
• iOS OS: Version 12.0 or higher

Downloading with QR code: Scan the QR code with a QR code scanner app to be directed to the download page.

Downloading in Google Play or App Store: Find and install the app, connect the smartphone to the speaker via Bluetooth, open the app, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: App access methods may vary by smartphone. Google, Android, and Google Play are trademarks of Google LLC. Software updates via the app require the product to remain powered on.

Power Saving Mode

The product turns off automatically after 15 minutes of no playback or button input. You can enable or disable this feature via the LG XBOOM app [Auto Power Management].

Note: If power saving is off, the product only turns off via [Power] press or battery discharge.

Using Auto power - on.

The speaker can turn on automatically when a Bluetooth device connects, provided it has a connection history and is charging with power off.

Note: This function can be controlled only via the LG XBOOM app.

Voice feedback function

The product provides voice guidance for its current status (English voice only). This can be enabled or disabled via the LG XBOOM app.

Exploring the Product

Top & Front

• SOUND BOOST: Changes sound effect. (See "Setting Sound Effects" on page 25.)
• Lighting: Selects Woofer Lighting. Can be customized via LG XBOOM app. Pressing and holding for 2 seconds turns off Woofer Lighting, Flash lighting, and Dot Animation.
• Battery LED: Displays charging and battery status. (See "Checking Battery Status" on page 11.)
• Power: Turns the product on/off. Press and hold for 2 seconds to view battery status on the LED.
• Volume: Controls the volume level.
• Play/Pause: Operates playback. Press once to play/pause. Press twice quickly for next track. Press three times quickly for previous track.
• Function LED: Indicates input mode or Bluetooth connection status.
• Function: Selects input mode (BT, USB). Press repeatedly to select BT function.
• Flash Lighting: Provides light effects to the beat of the music.
• Speaker (Woofer) / Woofer Lighting: Delivers Bass sound and light show.
• Dot Animation: Displays movements/sentences via LG XBOOM app. Press Lighting and Volume buttons simultaneously to change Dot Animation.
• Speaker (Tweeter): Produces accurate high notes.
• Handle: Used for carrying the product.

CAUTION: Place product away from children's reach to prevent injury from falls. Avoid dropping the speaker to prevent malfunction or injury. Do not look directly at LEDs while they are running.

Back

• MIC: Adjusts microphone volume. Connect a microphone to the [MIC Jack].
• GUITAR: Adjusts guitar volume. Connect a guitar to the [GUITAR Jack].
• AC IN: Plug in the power cord.
• USB Port: Plug in a USB storage device for music playback.
• MIC ECHO: Selects ECHO mode (ECHO 1 / ECHO 2 / Off).
• ECHO LED: Indicates ECHO mode connection status.
• RESET: Press with a sharp object to reset the product if it malfunctions.
• Back Cover: Ensure it is fully closed after use. Ingress Protection: IPX4 (Protected against splashing water).
• Net: For storing the power cord, etc.

CAUTION: Avoid prolonged sunlight exposure to prevent discoloration. Avoid dropping the speaker as mechanical shock can degrade water-resistant performance.

Note: Ensure the back cover is secured to prevent tremors.

Charge

Charging the Battery

This product has a built-in battery. Charge it sufficiently before use.

1. Open the back cover and plug the power cable into the product.
2. Plug the power cable into an outlet.

Note: Full charge takes about 3.5 hours. Playback time is approximately 20 hours. These times may vary.

Attaching the ferrite core (optional)

Attach the ferrite core to the power cord cable to reduce radio noise.

1. Pull [Part a] to open the ferrite core.
2. Wind the power cord cable twice around the ferrite core.
3. Close the ferrite core until it clicks.

Checking Battery Status

Charging Status

The battery LED indicates charging status:

• Green LED: Charging complete.
• Red LED: Charging in progress.

Note: Playing music while charging may increase charging time. When fully charged with power off, the LED shows green for 15 seconds then turns off.

Use Status

When the product is on, the battery status is displayed on the battery LED for 3 seconds. Pressing and holding the [Power] button for 2 seconds also shows the status.

• Green LED: Battery level above 70%.
• Amber LED: Battery level between 70% and 10%.
• Blinking Red LED (with notification sound): Battery level below 10%, needs charging.

Note: Battery status cannot be checked while charging.

Connecting to Bluetooth

Connecting Smartphone to the Speaker via Bluetooth

You can play music from Bluetooth devices.

Bluetooth Specifications: Version 5.1, Codec: SBC, AAC.

Connection Steps:

1. Press the [Power] button to turn on the product.
2. Press the [Function] button repeatedly to select the BT function (? LED blinks).
3. On your smartphone, go to Settings (⚙️) and select Bluetooth. Turn on Bluetooth. (Off ➡️ On)
4. From the list of available devices, find and tap “LG-XL7S(XX)”.
5. Once connected, the BT LED turns on. Play music from your smartphone.

Troubleshooting: If “LG-XL7S(XX)” doesn't appear, tap the [Refresh] icon (Android) or restart Bluetooth (iPhone).

Notes:

• Closer proximity improves connection.
• If not connected, BT LED blinks; reconnect.
• Adjust Bluetooth device volume appropriately.
• “XX” are the last two digits of the Bluetooth address (e.g., LG-XL7S(08)).
• If power is connected, the product may auto-turn on and connect to a previously paired Bluetooth device. This can be controlled via the LG XBOOM app (See "Using Auto power - on." on page 27).

Connecting with two smartphones

Pairing (Connecting) Multiple Phones:

1. Connect the product and a smartphone first.
2. Press and hold the [Function] button for 2 seconds (? LED blinks for 60 seconds).
3. Connect an additional smartphone within 60 seconds.

When two smartphones are connected, the BT LED turns on.

Notes:

• Supports up to two smartphones.
• Music plays from only one smartphone at a time.
• When powered off and on, it reconnects to the last or most recently played smartphone.
• Only smartphones support multi-phone pairing.

Connecting to the LG XBOOM App

Installing app

Use the LG XBOOM app for speaker functions. Install by scanning the QR code or searching for "LG XBOOM app" on Google Play or the App Store.

App Requirements: Android OS 6.0+, iOS 12.0+.

Downloading with QR code: Scan the QR code with a QR code scanner app to download.

Downloading in Google Play or App Store: Install the app, connect the speaker via Bluetooth, open the app, and follow instructions.

Using the Wireless Party Link

Connect multiple speakers using the LG XBOOM app's Wireless Party Link (Dual mode or Multi mode).

Dual mode

Enjoy stereo sound with two same-model speakers (e.g., XL7S and XL7S).

Requirements: Two speakers of the same model.

Steps:

1. Connect speaker and smartphone.
2. Tap Wireless Party Link in the LG XBOOM app.
3. Tap Dual mode and connect another speaker.

Dual mode LED: Main speaker: Party Link LED and BT LED on, Left channel sound. Other speaker: BT LED on, Right channel sound.

Connecting to your TV via Dual mode

1. Follow Dual mode connection steps.
2. Press and hold [Function] button on the main speaker for 2 seconds (? LED blinks for 60 seconds).
3. In TV settings, select the main speaker within 60 seconds to hear TV sound through both speakers.

Note: LG XBOOM app control is unavailable when using Dual mode with a TV.

Multi mode

Enjoy powerful sound with multiple speakers (e.g., XL7S and XL5S).

Requirements: Multiple LG Bluetooth speakers.

Steps:

1. Connect speaker and smartphone.
2. Tap Wireless Party Link in the LG XBOOM app.
3. Tap Multi mode and turn it on.
4. Search for and select speakers to connect.

Multi mode LED: Main speaker: Party Link LED and BT LED on, outputs sound. Other speakers: BT LED on, outputs sound in sync.

Notes:

• Main speaker connects to one Bluetooth device.
• Multi-phone pairing is not supported in Dual/Multi mode.
• Speakers do not auto-reconnect after power cycling.
• Connecting in USB function in Dual/Multi mode switches to Bluetooth.
• To change Bluetooth device, press and hold [Function] button for 2 seconds.
• Keep speakers close for best results.
• Network environment may affect performance.
• TV screen and speaker sound may not sync.
• Volume and EQ linkage between speakers is not available in Multi mode.
• Voice canceller and Key changer are disabled in Dual/Multi mode.

Connecting to USB

Connecting the product to a USB storage device

Enjoy sound by connecting a USB storage device with music files.

1. Open the back cover and plug the USB storage device into the USB terminal.
2. Press the [Power] button to turn on the product.
3. Press the [Function] button repeatedly to select the USB function (USB LED turns on).
4. Press the [Play/Pause] button to enjoy music.

Limitations: Cannot play devices connected via USB hub or cable. Cannot connect to USB storage devices, USB MP3 players, or card readers requiring separate drive installation.

Notes:

• Large USB devices may take time to browse.
• LG Electronics is not responsible for data loss; back up data.
• Only FAT16/FAT32 formats are supported; exFAT/NTFS are not.
• If USB device is not recognized, the USB LED blinks; check compatibility and reconnect.
• USB port is for media playback only; cannot charge external devices.

USB storage devices supported: USB flash drive, USB 2.0. May not recognize some devices.

Playable file specifications

• Max playable files: 2,000.
• Max directories: 200.
• Cannot play DRM-protected files.
• Cannot play video files from USB.

Additional Functions

Setting Sound Effects

Select sound effects using the SOUND BOOST button.

• Standard: High-fidelity sound with balance and natural tone.
• Custom: Adjust sound via LG XBOOM app (Custom EQ).
• SOUND BOOST: Wide sound field and powerful sound.

Note: Fine-tuning may result in slight differences between sound effect modes.

Resetting the product

Reset the product if it operates improperly.

1. Open the back cover and press the [RESET] button with a sharp object to power off.
2. Turn on by pressing the [Power] button.

Initializing the Software

Initializes Bluetooth connection and settings.

1. Press and hold the [Function] button for 7 seconds or longer.
2. All function LEDs will blink four times.

Note: Reconnect Bluetooth devices after initializing.

Power Saving Mode

Product turns off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity. Enable/disable via LG XBOOM app [Auto Power Management].

Note: If power saving is off, the product only turns off via [Power] press or battery discharge.

Carrying the product

The product has wheels and a handle for easy movement.

1. Press the lock button on the handle.
2. Pull the handle up.
3. Release the lock button to secure the handle.

Note: To retract the handle, press the button and push down.

CAUTION: Do not shake the handle hard. Do not hang heavy items on the handle. Do not drag the product on rough surfaces or stairs. Be careful not to drop the product. Disconnect cables before carrying. Do not step or sit on the product. Place on a stable surface away from children. Ensure the handle is secured before use.

• Exclamation point: Alerts to important operating/maintenance instructions.

WARNING: DO NOT EXPOSE TO RAIN OR MOISTURE. DO NOT INSTALL IN CONFINED SPACES.

CAUTION:

• Do not use high voltage products nearby (e.g., electrical swatter) as it may cause malfunction.
• Keep away from open flames (e.g., candles).
• Do not block ventilation openings. Install according to manufacturer instructions.
• Do not expose to water (dripping/splashing). Do not place liquid-filled objects on the apparatus.
• Refer to the main label for safety marking and supply ratings.
• Keep children's hands away from the speaker duct.

CAUTION concerning the Power Cord

The Power Plug is the disconnecting device and must remain accessible.

• Check specifications for current requirements.
• Do not overload outlets. Damaged cords/outlets are dangerous. Periodically examine cords for damage.
• Protect cords from physical abuse (twisting, kinking, pinching, etc.). Pay attention to plugs and outlets.

CAUTION when using this product in environments of low humidity

• Static electricity may occur. Touch metal objects before use.

For models using a battery

CAUTION: Risk of fire or explosion if battery is replaced incorrectly.

For models using a built-in battery

• Do not store/transport at pressures below 11.6 kPa or above 15,000 m altitude.
• Risks associated with incorrect battery replacement, disposal (fire, crushing), high temperatures, and low air pressure.

Prevention of product misuse

Precautions for installing the product

• Install on a firm, level surface; avoid unstable or vibrating places.
• Ensure the product does not protrude from furniture/shelves.
• Install in a safe place, away from children's reach.
• Install in a place free from electromagnetic interference.
• Avoid extreme temperatures (too high/low) and humidity.
• Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources (heaters). Do not use flammable sprays nearby.
• Avoid moisture, dust, or soot.
• Ensure adequate ventilation; do not install in narrow spaces or cover the product.
• Connect to an easily accessible power outlet for quick disconnection in emergencies.
• Do not connect multiple products to one outlet to prevent overheating.

Precautions for using the product

• Do not lift or move while operating.
• Pull out power cord and cables before moving.
• Stop use immediately if smoke or strange odor is detected; turn off power, disconnect plug, and contact service.
• Do not insert metal objects, flammable items, or allow children to do so.
• If foreign substance is inserted, disconnect power and contact service.
• Do not place heavy objects on the product.
• Ensure children do not hang on or climb on the product.
• Remove power plug during thunderstorms.
• Do not place liquid-filled vessels on the product.
• Connect power plug firmly. Use only the rated voltage.
• Do not insert conductors into product grooves while plugged in. Do not touch plug immediately after unplugging.
• Hold plug with dry hands.
• Do not move or push product while holding cables.
• When removing cables, hold the connector, not the cable line.
• Do not keep product near heaters.
• Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the product.
• Keep plastic wraps away from toddlers.
• Do not drop objects on or impact the product. Keep away from strong vibrations or magnets.
• Do not damage, modify, bend, twist, or heat the power cord.

• Unplug during prolonged periods of non-use. Dust accumulation can cause heat/fire.
• Dispose of batteries separately from regular waste.
• Do not use high voltage products nearby.
• Do not touch power plug immediately after unplugging.
• Connect to a grounded outlet.
• If product has vents, they may get hot when left on; do not touch hot vents.
• Do not damage power cable, adapter, or plug. Do not place heavy objects on them.
• Clean power plug pins, adapters, and outlets if dusty.
• Use only genuine LG power cords and adapters.
• If using headphones/earphones, do not use excessively loud volumes or for prolonged periods.
• Do not turn off power during software updates via the LG XBOOM app.
