Product Overview
Wunda Panel Spray Adhesive, also known as Wunda Rapid Response board spray adhesive, is a high-performance bonding adhesive formulated specifically for bonding Wunda boards (Polystyrene) to concrete, screed, and wood.
It features a fast-drying formula with excellent high coverage, designed for bonding insulation panels to exterior-grade substrates. The adhesive offers excellent resistance to moisture and extreme weather exposure. It is a non-chlorinated solvent using CO2 as a propellant.
Safety Precautions: Users must ensure adequate ventilation, open windows and doors, and avoid use in confined areas. Wear suitable protective gloves, a face mask, and clothing.
Application and Use
For optimal results, store the spray adhesive and surfaces to be bonded above 16°C. Warm cans in a bucket of warm water and shake vigorously before use. An uneven spray pattern indicates the adhesive is too cold.
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, oil, loose paint, wax, grease, polish, or any other contaminants that could prevent adhesion.
Test Area: Check compatibility by spraying adhesive onto the floor surface and fixing a Rapid Response board for 10-15 minutes. If a firm bond is not achieved, try spraying both the floor surface and the board. This may be necessary for tiled or non-porous floors.
For Tiled or Non-Porous Floors: Ensure the surface is prepared by removing all traces of floor polish and cleaning products using a non-oil based cleaning agent, such as methylated spirits.
Application Technique: Spray at a distance of approximately 10-20cm (4"-8") from the surface at an angle, applying a uniform and even coat for 80%-100% coverage.
Tack-Off: Allow the adhesive to tack-off until no adhesive transfers to the knuckle when touched (approximately 1 minute, dependent on environmental conditions).
Board Placement: Place the Rapid Response board onto the adhesive, pressing down with adequate, even pressure. Ensure correct board orientation before application.
Application Tip: For precise application, 'dry' lay the Rapid Response board and mark its edges onto the floor with a marker pen. This helps apply adhesive right up to the edges, minimizing overspray and wastage.
Key Features:
- Fast drying formula
- Suitable for EPS (polystyrene)
- High tack
- High coverage
- High temperature resistance
- No mess
- No waste
- Approx. 5m² coverage per 500ml can
Important: Bonding onto Older Floorboards
When bonding EPS boards onto existing floorboards, both the floorboards and the underside of the EPS board require Wunda spray adhesive. This is because older floorboards can develop concave or convex surfaces over time, reducing the effective adhesion area.
Coating both surfaces ensures maximum contact and a firm, secure fixing. Always perform a test area before proceeding with the full installation. Seriously uneven floors may require levelling first.
Important Safety Information
- Use in well-ventilated areas.
- Do not thin or reactivate with solvents.
- Do not incinerate expelled cans.
- Do not expose to extreme heat.
- Keep away from sources of ignition.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
- If adhesive is expelled wet or as a jet, the aerosol is too cold – move to a warm environment and allow to acclimatize before re-using.

Spray Pattern & Coverage Guidelines
Proper spray pattern and coverage are crucial for effective bonding.
- A - Not enough: Insufficient coverage, leading to weak bonds.
- B - Too much: Excessive application, leading to overspray, waste, and potential adhesion issues.
- C - Just Right: An even, web-like pattern ensuring optimal coverage and adhesion.
22 ltr Canister & Long Wand Spray Gun User Guide
For optimum results, store the 22 ltr canister above 18°C during use and keep it off cold concrete floors. The shipping box can provide storage for the hose and gun between uses.
If adhesive is expelled wet or as a jet, the canister is too cold; move it to a warm environment and allow it to acclimatize before re-using.
Wunda Rapid Response panel adhesive is a web spray suitable for bonding EPS Rapid Response boards directly onto prepared concrete/screed and wooden floors.
Important Usage Note: When connected, keep the valve open and the hose pressurized at all times between uses to prevent the adhesive from drying in the hose and gun.
Safety Warnings for 22 ltr Canister Use:
- DO NOT close canister valve until ready to connect to a new pressurized canister.
- Use only in well-ventilated areas.
- DO NOT thin or reactivate with solvents.
- DO NOT incinerate.
- DO NOT expose to extreme heat over 50°C.
- Keep away from sources of ignition.
- Release pressure in hose/gun before disconnecting hose from canister.
- Test for suitability before use.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
Application Steps (500ml Can & 22ltr Canister)
Ensure substrate is dry, clean, and free from dust, dirt, oil, loose paint, wax, grease, or any other substance that will prevent adhesion. Secure or replace any loose floor boards, and fill/level any imperfections.
- Attach Hose to Gun: Secure and tighten the hose onto the spray gun using the larger nut (clockwise). Check hose attachment and tighten the spray tip for the correct spray pattern.
- Attach Hose to Canister: Attach the opposite end of the hose to the canister valve. Screw the smaller hose nut to the canister valve (clockwise) and fully tighten with a spanner. Check hose security and all connections.
- Open Canister Valve: Turn the canister valve anti-clockwise until fully open. Check connections for leaks and tighten if necessary. DO NOT turn the canister valve off until the canister is empty and you are ready to replace it, to prevent adhesive curing in the hose and gun.
- Purge and Adjust: On initial use, or if the canister has been standing for over 12 hours, purge the hose and gun. Pull the trigger and adjust the flow using the adjustment screw on the back of the gun (anticlockwise to open, clockwise to close). Dispense and discard adhesive until a consistent spray pattern is achieved. Open the spray control knob 2-3 full turns from shut for a test spray. The spray should form an even web pattern when held 10-20cm (4"-8") away from the substrate.
- Apply Adhesive: Hold the gun at a 90° angle to the surface, applying a uniform, even coat for 80%-100% coverage. If needed, apply a second coat in areas requiring more adhesive. For some floor types, apply adhesive to both the substrate and the underside of the Rapid Response board (one coat horizontally, the other vertically).
- Tack-Off and Placement: Allow adhesive to tack-off (test by touching with the back of your hand; it should be tacky but not transfer). Position the Rapid Response board onto the adhesive, checking orientation before laying. Apply downward pressure and smooth over to ensure a good bond. Note: Repositioning is not possible after contact is made.
- Clogged Spray Tip: If the spray tip clogs, unscrew it from the gun lance and clean with a solvent like lacquer thinner or acetone. Do not use a pin to clear the opening.
- Canister Valve: Remember not to turn off the valve on the canister until ready to change it, as leaving the hose pressurized prevents curing.
Canister Change Over/Replacement
Safety First: Wear safety glasses and gloves before starting.
Shake the new canister well before use. If not transferring the hose and gun to a new canister, clean the existing one to ensure it can be used again.
- Close Valve: Turn the canister valve clockwise until fully closed. Pull the trigger on the gun and hold for 10 seconds to expel residual pressure.
- Disconnect Hose: Unscrew the hose nut and disconnect the hose from the empty canister.
- Connect to New Canister: Connect the hose and gun to the new canister. Screw the hose nut to the canister (clockwise) with a spanner. Check hose security and all connections. Turn the canister valve anti-clockwise until fully open. Check for leaks and tighten connections if necessary. Test spray a small amount to check for pressure.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This process should be followed through immediately. Adhesive must be dispensed from the new can, or the gun and hose will block and become unusable.
Canister Disposal
IMPORTANT: Wear safety glasses and gloves before starting disposal.
- Release Pressure: Lay the empty canister on its side with the valve pointing away from the operator and well away from ignition sources. Open the canister valve (anti-clockwise) to release any residual pressure. Keep the canister on its side until pressure is released to ensure no adhesive residue is expelled, only propellant.
- Puncture: Stand the canister upright. Use a hammer and brass punch or other non-sparking instrument to puncture the friable disc.
- Disposal: If the user accepts responsibility for de-pressurising, the canister can be disposed of as normal scrap metal, subject to local waste restrictions.
Transport Information
During transport, ensure PPE, a First Aid Kit, and a suitable Fire Extinguisher are readily accessible in the vehicle.
