Product Overview
Euro Style terminal block connectors offer a variety of wire termination methods, including rising cage clamp, wire protector, spring, and Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC). The product line includes one-piece board mount terminal blocks and two-piece plug connectors with mating straight and right-angle shrouded headers. Special versions for 90° or 180° mating are also available. Board mount connectors and pc board plugs/headers can be stacked end-to-end without loss of centerline spacing. Built-in interlocks facilitate easy assembly. Pre-assembled products and custom labeling options are available upon request.

Wire Termination Technologies
TE Connectivity offers various wire termination technologies for its Euro Style Terminal Blocks:
Leg Spring
Intended for use in rugged applications such as instrumentation, industrial controls, data acquisition, security & alarm, and HVAC products. Provides for faster wire termination than screw versions.
Insulation Displacement
Intended for use in industrial communications and control applications, such as analog or serial communications using 22-24 AWG wire. Pivot block plug mates with 3.5mm horizontal and vertical terminal block headers.
Crimp Style
A terminal block plug that utilizes an insertable crimp snap contact for wire termination. This plug mates to standard headers on 5.08mm. Intended for higher volume applications and used with junior power timer contacts.
Rising Cage
Intended for use in rugged applications, such as industrial controls, data acquisition, and communications products, where multiple wire terminations are required. Available in one-piece and two-piece configurations.
Wire Protector
Recommended for low-cost commercial applications, intended for lighter duty or commercial applications such as security and alarm systems or HVAC controls. Prevents the screw from damaging the wire.
Front Style Screw Clamp
The key feature of this style of terminal block plug is that the wire entry cavity and the activating screw head are on the same plane, which is parallel to the plug-in direction. This will mate with vertical and right-angle headers.
Options for Your Connections
Packaging Options
TE uses tape-on-reel packaging for automated pick-and-place equipment, suitable for high-temp products designed for through-hole reflow (THR) applications. Contact TE for details on other packaging options like tubes and trays.
Printing Options
Permanent printing in black or white is available for circuit identification, a common request for end-users.
Color Options
Euro Style terminal blocks are available in various colors, which can aid in organization and identification. Color options generally have minimal impact on lead times and minimum order quantities.
Questions to Help Select the Right Product
Ruggedness and Application
For rugged applications like industrial controls, the Rising Cage Clamp is recommended over the Wire Protector. The rising cage can be opened and closed multiple times, whereas the wire protector is intended for a single-use application to prevent screw damage to the wire.
Fastest Wire Termination
Spring style or IDC style offers faster wire termination compared to screw versions.
Two Piece Pluggable Connectors Stackability
Two-piece pluggable connectors are side stackable if they do not have mounting flanges and the headers are open-ended. They are not side stackable if mounting flanges are present or if the header is a closed-end version.
Customization Options
Yes, Euro Style Terminal Blocks can be customized. Common requests include permanent printing (black or white) for circuit identification, connector color variations, and polarization legs to prevent misapplication on the PCB.
