Installation Steps
Step 1: Vehicle Preparation
Access the rear of the vehicle. Remove bumper or trim panels to expose chassis mounting points. Note any warning symbols ⚠️.
Step 2: Mount Tow Bar Brackets
Attach the main tow bar mounting brackets to the vehicle's chassis using specified bolts (e.g., M10 x 50mm, M10 x 40mm). Tighten securely.
Step 3: Position and Secure Tow Bar Frame
Place the tow bar frame onto the brackets and align mounting holes. Insert and tighten bolts (e.g., M10 x 50mm). Pay attention to vehicle-specific details like "Hybrid" indicators.
Step 4: Final Tightening
Secure the tow bar frame completely using the specified bolts (e.g., M10 x 67Nm). Ensure all fasteners are torqued correctly according to the technical specifications table.
Step 5: Attach Ball Hitch Assembly
Install the detachable ball neck and its locking mechanism. Use M12 x 100mm bolts and torque to 117Nm.
Step 6: Electrical Connection
Connect the tow bar's electrical socket to the vehicle's wiring harness. Refer to separate wiring kit instructions for details.
Step 7: Locking Mechanism Check
Verify the ball hitch locking mechanism is correctly engaged. A green indicator ✔️ confirms proper locking; a red indicator ❌ signifies an issue. Ensure correct clearance (e.g., 5mm gap) is maintained.
Step 8: Reassembly
Reinstall any removed bumper or trim panels. Ensure all components are correctly fitted and secured.
ECE-R 55 Compliance
Ensure adequate clearance around the tow ball and mounting points as specified by ECE-R 55 regulations (refer to figures 25a and 25b in Appendix 7 of the directive). This ensures proper function and safety.
The tow bar is designed for vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) as specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
