For information about the nearest recycling point, contact your local waste disposal service or read more about HMD's collection program and its availability in your country at www.hmd.com/phones/support/topics/recycle.
Battery and charger information
Battery and charger safety information
When disconnecting a charger or accessory, pull the plug, not the cord. When you are not using the charger, disconnect it. If a fully charged battery is not used, it will discharge automatically over time.
Always store the battery at a temperature between 15 °C and 25 °C for optimal performance. At extreme temperatures, battery capacity and lifespan decrease. A device with a warm or cold battery may be unusable for a period. Accidental short-circuiting can occur when a metal object comes into contact with the metal strips on the battery. This can cause damage to the battery or the other object.
Do not throw batteries into a fire. They may explode. Observe local regulations. If possible, return batteries for recycling. Do not dispose of batteries with household waste.
Never dismantle, cut, bend, puncture, or otherwise damage batteries. If a battery leaks, do not allow the liquid to come into contact with skin or eyes. If this happens, rinse your skin and eyes immediately with water or seek medical help. Do not modify the battery, try to insert foreign objects into it. Do not expose the battery to or immerse it in water or other liquids. Batteries can explode if damaged.
Use the battery and charger only for their intended purposes. Improper use or use of unapproved or incompatible batteries or chargers may pose a risk of fire, explosion, or other hazard, and may void the approval or warranty. If you think the battery or charger is damaged, take it to a service point or your phone's supplier for inspection before using it again. Never use a damaged battery or charger. Use the charger indoors only. Do not charge the device during a thunderstorm.
Small children
The device and its accessories are not toys. They may contain small parts. Keep them out of the reach of small children.
Medical equipment
The use of radio transmitting equipment, including wireless phones, can adversely affect the functioning of insufficiently protected medical equipment. Consult a doctor or the medical equipment manufacturer to determine if it is adequately protected against external radio frequency energy.
Implanted medical devices
To prevent possible interference, manufacturers of implanted medical devices (such as pacemakers, insulin pumps, and neurostimulators) recommend a minimum distance of 15.3 centimeters (6 inches) between a wireless device and the medical device. People with such devices should consider the following:
- Always keep the wireless device more than 15.3 centimeters away from the medical device.
- Do not carry the wireless device in a breast pocket.
- Hold the wireless device to the ear on the side of the body opposite to where the medical device is located.
- Switch off the wireless device if there is any reason to suspect interference is occurring.
- Follow the instructions from the manufacturer of the implanted medical device.
If you have questions about using the wireless device when you have an implanted medical device, contact your healthcare provider.
Hearing
Warning: When using the headset, your ability to hear outside sounds may be adversely affected. Do not use the headset when it may endanger your safety.
Some wireless devices can cause interference with some hearing aids.
Protecting your device from harmful content
Your device may be exposed to viruses and other harmful content. Take the following precautions:
- Be cautious when opening messages. Messages may contain harmful software or otherwise be harmful to the device or computer.
- Be cautious when accepting connection requests, browsing the internet, or downloading content. Do not allow connections to Bluetooth devices from sources you do not trust.
- Install and use only services and software from sources you trust and that offer adequate security and protection.
- Install antivirus and other security software on your device and any connected computer. Use only one antivirus application at a time. Using more than one antivirus application can negatively affect the performance and operation of the device and/or computer.
- When opening pre-installed bookmarks and links to third-party websites, take precautions. HMD Global does not endorse these sites and assumes no responsibility for them.
Vehicles
Radio signals can affect electronic systems in vehicles that are incorrectly installed or insufficiently shielded. For more information, consult your vehicle manufacturer or the manufacturer of the installed equipment. The device should only be mounted in a car by authorized personnel. Improper installation can pose risks and void the warranty. Regularly check that the wireless equipment in the car is still securely attached and functioning properly. Do not store or transport flammable or explosive materials in the same compartment as the device or its accessories. Never place your device or accessories in front of an airbag.
Environments with a risk of explosion
Switch off the device if you are in potentially explosive environments, such as near petrol stations. Sparks can cause an explosion or fire, which can result in injury or death. Pay attention to restrictions in areas with fuel, chemical plants, or where explosive work is carried out. Potentially explosive environments are not always clearly marked. These are usually areas where you are advised to switch off your engine, the lower deck of boats, places for transfer and storage of chemicals, and environments where the air contains chemicals or particles.
Consult vehicle manufacturers that run on liquid gas (such as propane or butane) to see if this device can be safely used in their vicinity.
Certification information
This mobile device complies with the guidelines for radio wave exposure.
This mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limit for radio wave exposure (electromagnetic radio frequency fields), as recommended by international guidelines from the independent scientific organization ICNIRP. These guidelines include important safety margins intended to ensure the protection of all persons, regardless of their age and health status. Exposure guidelines are based on SAR (Specific Absorption Rate). This is an expression for the amount of radio frequency energy (RF) that lands on the head or body when the device is transmitting. The ICNIRP SAR limit for mobile devices is 2.0 W/kg averaged over 10 grams of tissue.
SAR tests are performed with the device in standard operating positions, transmitting at the highest permitted energy level in all frequency bands.
This device complies with the radio signal exposure guidelines when used against the head or when the device is kept at least 1.5 cm away from the body. When the device is worn on the body in a carrying case, belt clip, or other form of device holder, these accessories should not contain metal and should provide at least the aforementioned distance from the body.
To send data or messages, a good network connection is required. Sending may be delayed until such a connection is available. Follow the instructions for distance from the body until sending is complete.
During general use, SAR values are usually significantly lower than the values shown above. This is because your mobile device's power consumption is automatically reduced when full power is not needed for the call. This is intended for system efficiency and minimizing network interference. The lower the output power, the lower the SAR value.
Device models may have different versions and more than one value. Over time, component and design changes may be made, and certain changes may affect SAR values.
Visit www.sar-tick.com for more information. Remember that mobile devices may transmit even if you are not making a voice call.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that current scientific evidence does not indicate that special precautions are necessary when using mobile devices. If you are interested in reducing your exposure, they recommend limiting your use or using a hands-free kit to keep the device away from your head and body. For more information, explanations, and discussions about RF exposure, visit the WHO website at www.who.int/health-topics/electromagnetic-fields#tab=tab_1.
Refer to www.hmd.com/sar for the device's maximum SAR value.
