Allen & Heath ML Series B Conversion Guide

Overview

This document provides instructions for converting Allen & Heath ML Series mixers to the 'B' configuration. The process involves the removal and replacement of specific modules and PCBs.

Procedure Steps

  1. Remove the right-hand plastic side trim.
  2. Remove the metal end plate.
  3. Remove the right-hand 8x input channel module.
  4. Remove additional modules as required, depending on the mixer frame size, until the module to the right of the master section is accessible for removal.
  5. Fit the new rear connector panel.
  6. Remove four mono input PCBs from the original module and fit them to the new metalwork.
  7. Fit the new four stereo PCBs to the new metalwork.

NOTE: This document is a guide only, and the procedures have not been verified.

Detailed Instructions

  1. Use a screwdriver to prise off the plastic strip below the meter bridge. For re-assembly, use a block of wood and a hammer to tap the strip back onto the screw heads.
  2. Remove the meter panel.
  3. Stand the mixer upright on the meter pod/rear connectors and remove the base panel.
  4. The plastic side trim must be removed. It is secured from inside.

Remove as many input PCBs as required to access the middle screws.

With the meter panel removed, access the last side trim screw.

  1. With the plastic side trim removed, it is possible to remove the metal end plate.
  2. Remove the right-hand module of 8x input channels.

  1. The rear connector panels are secured to the chassis extrusions by self-tap screws.
  2. Fit four existing mono channel PCBs to the new metalwork.
  3. Fit four new stereo channel PCBs to the new metalwork.
  4. Re-assemble and test.
