Installation Instructions - English

1. BE SURE MOUNTING AREA IS CLEAN AND DRY.
• FOR SIDE SPRAY MODEL ONLY GO TO STEP 3.
• FOR WITHOUT SPRAY MODEL GO TO STEP 4a.
2. HINTS: When using flexible supplies, we recommend supply lines be installed onto threaded fittings before placing faucet through sink holes (see step 6). For installations on tile countertops, remove rubber gasket from underneath support plate (19) and apply a bead of putty in its place. Roll the bead of putty into a diameter no larger than a pencil. When applied in the groove, the putty bead should protrude a minimum of 1/16".
3. Locate foam gasket on hose guide (27) by sliding gasket onto shank and tucking outer edge of gasket under the hose guide (27). Do not drive the center area of the gasket up into the hose guide. Install hose guide (27) through furthest left or right hole in sink. From under sink, thread locknut (28) (flat side up) on shank of hose guide and tighten by hand. Feed spray hose (29) down through the hose guide (27) (do not connect spray hose to faucet until step 7 below). Go to 4a.
4. 4a. Install faucet through deck holes (threaded shank (22) to back). Center faucet on sink with support plate (19) oriented in sink holes. Position spout to the side to keep faucet from tilting forward. Go to step 4b for installation of mounting bracket (24).
5. 4b. IMPORTANT: DECK THICKNESS As shown above, your deck thickness determines whether the mounting bracket (24) is installed open side up or down. For side spray models, a groove on the threaded shank (22) indicates the minimum amount of thread length which must be exposed for proper attachment of nuts (25) and (30). For models without side spray, a minimum of 1/2" of threaded shank (22) must be exposed for proper attachment of nut (25). Install mounting nut (25) and tighten by hand. Go to step 5.
6. 5. Be sure faucet is positioned evenly on sink. Make final tightening of mounting nut (25) with a basin wrench, channel locks, or 5/8" deep socket wrench. Go to step 6.
7. NOTE: Models with 16" long supply tubes connect directly to stop valves.
8. CAUTION: Severe bends of the supply lines may cause crimping and restricted water flow could result.
9. 6. If using flexible supply lines with compression fittings, thread supply line nuts on finger tight, then holding one threaded fitting with a wrench, tighten nut with another wrench, rotating one half turn. Do not overtighten. Make connections to existing hot and cold stop valves. The hot supply tube is always to the left when threaded shank (22) is positioned to rear. Go to step 7.
10. 7. TO CONNECT SPRAY HOSE (SIDE SPRAY MODELS ONLY): Connect spray hose swivel nut (30) to the threaded shank. Tighten swivel nut by hand plus 1/4 turn with pliers or channel locks being careful not to twist the hose (29). DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Faucet flushing is required. See flushing instructions on next page.

2. 4. 4a. Instale la mezcladora a través los hoyos de la cubierta (con el tubo roscado (22) hacia atrás). 2. Suggestion: Si on utilise des conduites souples, nous recommandons d'installer les conduites d'alimentation sur des raccords filetés avant de fixer le robinet dans les orifices de l'évier (voir étape 6). Pour une installation sur un comptoir en carrelage retirer la bague de caoutchouc d'en dessous de la plaque de support (19) et appliquer une «bille» de mastic à sa place. Rouler le mastic pour en faire une bille dont le diamètre n'excède pas celui d'un crayon. Une fois appliquée dans la rainure, la bille de mastic devrait dépasser d'au moins 1/16 po.
3. Repérer la bague en mousse sur le guide-boyau (27) en faisant glisser la bague sur la tige et en faisant rentrer le bord extérieur de la bague sous le guide-boyau (27). Ne pas pousser la partie centrale de la bague dans le guide-boyau. Installer le guide-boyau (27) dans l'orifice de l'évier le plus éloigné à gauche ou à droite. Sous l'évier, visser le contre-écrou (28) (côté plat vers le haut) sur la tige du guide-boyau et serrer manuellement. Faire glisser le boyau du rince-légumes (29) dans le guide-boyau (27) (ne pas raccorder le rince-légumes au robinet avant l'étape 7 ci-dessous). Passer à l'étape 4a.
4. 4a. Installer le robinet dans les orifices de la plaque de comptoir (tige filetée (22) à l'arrière). Centrer le robinet sur l'évier avec la plaque de soutien (19) placée sur les orifices de l'évier. Tourner le bec du robinet sur le côté pour l'empêcher de pencher vers l'avant. Consulter l'étape 4b pour l'installation du support de montage (24).
5. 4b. IMPORTANT: L'ÉPAISSEUR DU COMPTOIR Tel qu'illustré ci-dessus, l'épaisseur du comptoir détermine si l'ouverture du support de montage (24) doit être installée vers le haut ou le bas. Pour les modèles avec rince-légumes latéral, une rainure sur la tige filetée (22) indique la longueur minimale du filetage qu'il faut laisser à découvert pour visser correctement les écrous (25 et 30). Pour les modèles sans rince-légumes, il faut laisser à découvert 1/2 po de la tige filetée (22) pour pouvoir bien visser l'écrou (25). Installer l'écrou de montage (25) et serrer manuellement. Passer à l'étape 5.
6. 5. S'assurer que le robinet est bien centré sur l'évier. Serrer à fond l'écrou de montage (25) avec une clé de lavabo, des pinces multiprises ou une clé à douille profonde de 5/8 po. Passer à l'étape 6.
7. REMARQUE : Les modèles avec tuyaux d'alimentation de 16 pouces se raccordent directement aux robinets d'arrêt.
8. AVERTISSEMENT : La courbure très prononcée des tuyaux peut causer un aplatissement et réduire le débit d'eau.
9. 6. Si on utilise des conduites d'alimentation souples munies de raccords à compression, bien visser les écrous des conduites d'alimentation. Ensuite, en tenant le raccord fileté avec une clé, resserrer l'écrou d'un demi-tour avec une autre clé. Ne pas serrer trop fort. Raccorder aux robinets d'arrêt d'eau chaude et d'eau froide existants. La conduite d'alimentation en eau chaude est toujours placée à gauche lorsque la tige filetée (22) est à l'arrière. Passer à l'étape 7.
10. 7. RACCORDEMENT DU BOYAU DE RINCE-LÉGUMES (POUR RINCE-LÉGUMES LATÉRAL SEULEMENT) : Raccorder l'écrou tournant (30) à la tige filetée. Serrer manuellement l'écrou tournant et serrer ensuite d'un quart de tour à l'aide de pinces ou de pinces multiprises en faisant attention de ne pas tordre le boyau (24). NE PAS SERRER TROP FORT. Rincer ensuite le robinet. Voir les directives de rinçage à la page suivante.

Flushing Instructions (after faucet installation)

IMPORTANT: Pipe chips, sand, stones and other solids found in new and renovated plumbing can damage the sealing surfaces of the cartridge and cause leaks. To avoid damages, DO NOT TURN ON SUPPLY VALVES until instructed below.

1. Unscrew aerator.
2. Turn faucet on in the full cold position (handle pointing to the right) and turn on the cold supply for 15 seconds.
3. Without turning the faucet off, turn the handle to the full hot position (handle pointing to the left) and turn on the hot supply for 15 seconds.
4. Without turning the faucet off, turn the handle to the mid/mix position (handle pointing toward you) and turn on the spray for 15 seconds.
5. Shut off faucet.
6. Replace aerator and check system below sink for leaks.

Your new Moen faucet is now ready for normal use.

Care Instructions

All that is needed to clean your faucet is a soft damp cloth. Moen does not recommend the use of scour pads, cleansers or chemicals. The abrasive nature of these substances could damage the faucet's finish. A non abrasive car wax will help to protect the finish.

Trouble Shooting

• REVERSED HOT AND COLD POSITIONS

HELPFUL HINTS: IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO SHUT OFF WATER SUPPLIES. HANDLE SCREW REQUIRES A 5/16" HEX KEY ALLEN WRENCH.

1. Remove handle cap (1), temperature indicator (2), handle screw (3), handle body (4) or (5) and parts 6-8 in drawing on page 1. NOTE: Dome and pivot retainer assembly (6) unscrews counter clockwise as one unit.
2. Turn cartridge stem around so that the notch is turned one half turn or 180°.
3. Reinstall as follows: Be sure D-washer (14) is present on cartridge stem, and raised edge of pivot stop (9) faces front. Note orientation of handle adapter & connector assembly (8) in the exploded view. Completely tighten cartridge screw (7) to prevent self closure of faucet. Thread on dome and pivot retainer assembly (6) clockwise until hand tight. Reinstall handle body (4) or (5), handle screw (3), temperature indicator (2) and handle cap (1).

IRREGULAR WATER FLOW

Remove the aerator from the spout and flush thoroughly, then reinstall.

LOW WATER FLOW

Moen aerators comply with government regulations to save both water and energy. Your old faucet may not have met these standards.

LEAKS FROM TOP OR BOTTOM OF SPOUT HUB

Use replacement spout seal kit, replace and reassemble following instructions included with kit #117.

DRIPS FROM SPOUT/LEAKS THROUGH HANDLE

Replace Moen 1225 Cartridge with new one. Instructions are included with the 1225 cartridge.

Warranty

Moen products have been manufactured under the highest standards of quality and workmanship. Moen warrants to the original consumer purchaser for as long as the original consumer purchaser owns their home (the "Warranty Period" for homeowners), that this faucet will be leak and drip-free during normal use and all parts and finishes of this faucet will be free from defects in material and manufacturing workmanship. All other purchasers (including purchasers for industrial, commercial and business use) are warranted for a period of 5 years from the original date of purchase (the "Warranty Period" for non-homeowners).

If this faucet should ever develop a leak or drip during the Warranty Period, Moen will FREE OF CHARGE provide the parts necessary to put the faucet back in good working condition and will replace FREE OF CHARGE, any part or finish that proves defective in material and manufacturing workmanship, under normal installation, use and service. Replacement parts may be obtained by calling 1-800-289-6636, or by writing to the address shown below. Proof of purchase (original sales receipt) from the original consumer purchaser must accompany all warranty claims. Defects or damage caused by the use of other than genuine Moen parts are not covered by this warranty. This warranty is applicable only to faucets purchased after December 1995 and shall be effective from the date of purchase as shown on purchaser's receipt.

This warranty is extensive in that it covers replacement of all defective parts and finishes. However, damage due to installation error, product abuse, product misuse, or use of cleaners containing abrasives, alcohol or other organic solvents, whether performed by a contractor, service company, or yourself, are excluded from this warranty. Moen will not be responsible for labor charges and/or damage incurred in installation, repair or replacement, nor for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, losses, injury or costs of any nature relating to this faucet. Except as provided by law, this warranty is in lieu of and excludes all other warranties, conditions and guarantees, whether expressed or implied, statutory or otherwise, including without restriction those of merchantability or of fitness for use.

Some states, provinces and nations do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state, province to province, nation to nation. Consumer Information

Faucets made of leaded brass alloys may contribute small amounts of lead to water that is allowed to stand in contact with the brass. The amount of lead contributed by any faucet is highest when the faucet is new. The following steps may reduce potential exposure to lead from faucets and other parts of the plumbing system:

• Always run the water for a few seconds prior to use for drinking or cooking
• Use only cold water for drinking or cooking
• If you wish to flush the entire plumbing system of water that has been standing in the pipes or other fittings, run the cold water until the temperature of the water drops, indicating water coming from the outside main
• If you are concerned about lead in your water, have your water tested by a certified laboratory in your area

This faucet has been tested under actual operating conditions and complies with flow restrictions for water usage as set by the Federal Trade Commission.
