Onemile NOMAD User Manual: Folding Electric Bicycle Guide

Welcome to the comprehensive user manual for your Onemile NOMAD folding electric bicycle. This guide provides essential information for setup, operation, maintenance, and safety.

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the NOMAD as your travel partner. The NOMAD is an electrically assisted folding bicycle, ideal for urban journeys and perfectly suited for motorhomes or yachting. This manual provides all the information for its use and maintenance. The NOMAD meets the European standard EN 15194.

Content Overview:

  • Bike
  • Charger
  • User's Manual
  • Pedal wrench

I. Use Cautions

Before your first ride, ensure all components are properly installed and tightened. This includes the handlebar, stem, cranks, and wheels. A loose component can lead to a loss of control.

Assembly After Unboxing

The NOMAD is delivered almost fully assembled. After opening the carton, you just need to install:

  • Handlebar: Unscrew the quick release from the stem, keep the lever open, insert the handlebar, screw back the quick release, and close the lever.
  • Battery: Push the battery into the frame, connect its cable (see page 17), and set the seat height (see page 16).

Safety Checks

  • Wheels: Check that the front and rear wheels are properly tightened.
  • Tires: Regularly check tire pressure. It must be set between 3 and 3.5 bar (43-50 psi). NOMAD wheels and tires are tubetype only.
  • Brakes: Ensure brakes are working properly. Apply the rear brake first, then the front brake. If brakes are not correctly applied, they may lock up and cause loss of control. In case of malfunction or hydraulic oil leak, stop using the NOMAD immediately.

It is recommended to perform these safety checks every 200-300 km (120-180 miles) or if the bike is not used for several weeks.

The Battery and its Charger

  • Storage: Store the charged battery in a dry place at moderate temperature if the NOMAD is not used for a long period.
  • Cold Weather Capacity: Battery efficiency decreases below 10° Celsius, affecting autonomy. This is normal.
  • Charging: The charger and battery may heat up slightly and make a slight noise during charging. If any part overheats, disconnect immediately and contact your dealer.
  • Safety Warning: ⚠️ Under no circumstances try to open the battery!
  • Recycling: NOMAD's battery is recyclable. Contact your dealer or waste treatment center for disposal.

Battery Cable Connection: Insert the blue plug into the battery port; an audible click confirms the connection. To disconnect, rotate the blue plug counter-clockwise and pull gently.

Charging the Battery: Ensure the battery is turned off. Connect the charger plug to the battery port. The charger indicator light turns red when connected to the battery and green when fully charged. The battery can be charged on or off the bike.

For Your Safety

Become accustomed to the power assist on an open area, starting with level 0. Gradually increase assistance using the "+" button on the display. The motor makes a slight noise during operation, which is normal and varies with load. Turn off the power when walking or carrying the bicycle to avoid accidental starting.

III. How to Use

Folding the NOMAD

To ease transport, the NOMAD folds easily in seconds. Follow these steps:

  1. Push the pedal inward and pull it up or down to complete the folding.
  2. Folding the handlebars: Unscrew the handlebar lever, rotate the handlebar to position brake levers vertically, then lock the lever. Unlock the lever at the base of the steering column by pressing the safety button, then rotate the steering column.
  3. Lower the battery after opening the seat clamp, then close the seat clamp.
  4. Finally, unlock the frame lock and fold the two sections of the frame over each other.

Unfolding the NOMAD

Simply repeat the folding actions in reverse.

Important Note: For safety reasons, ensure you hear an audible click when locking the various quick releases and levers (frame, steering column, handlebars).

Seat Height Adjustment

Unlock the saddle clamp lever, adjust saddle height by pushing or pulling the saddle, and lock the lever. Respect minimum/maximum insertion marks on the battery body for safety.

Battery On/Off

To use the NOMAD, the battery must be switched ON. When parked, switch it OFF. Press the button on top of the battery to toggle power.

Transmission

The NOMAD features a Shimano Altus 7-speed drivetrain. Use the gear selector to adapt gearing to terrain for optimal efficiency and battery life. Press the lower button to shift to a smaller sprocket; press the upper lever to shift to a larger sprocket.

Display Functions

The display provides various information:

  • On/off: Press the button for 3 seconds to turn the display on/off. It auto-switches off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
  • Data Display:
    • ODO-DST-TIME: Total distance, instantaneous distance, and time.
    • SPEED-AVG-MAX: Instantaneous, average, and maximum speed.
    • VOL-CUR-WATT: Voltage, amperage, and power (watts).
  • Changing Assistance Level: Use the "+" or "-" buttons to select assistance level (1-5). Level 0 means no assistance. The display defaults to level 1 on startup.
  • Walk Assist Mode: Keep the "-" button pressed to activate walk assist. Release the button to exit.

IV. Maintenance

NOMAD's components are selected for an exceptional riding experience. Regular user maintenance will ensure the bike performs at its best.

User's Maintenance

Regular checks:

  • Tire condition (pressure, wear).
  • Brake operation and pad wear.
  • Tightening of handlebar lever, frame lock, saddle clamp.
  • Lights function.
  • Wheels tightening.

Transmission condition: Keep the transmission clean and lubricated with a suitable product for bicycle chains to ensure smooth running.

Warning: DO NOT USE SPRAY LUBRICANTS! Risks of brake pad contamination are high and pads may need replacement. Contact your dealer for advice on suitable lubricants.
