Description of Controls
The Hyundai HUM 282 ultrasonic humidifier is a white and translucent plastic appliance. It features a large water tank on top, with a mist outlet at the top. The base unit contains the controls and indicator lights. Key components are labeled P1 through P6:
- P1: Power switch (ON/OFF)
- P2: Water tank
- P3: Low water indicator (red), power light (green)
- P4: Moisture outlet
- P5: Base
- P6: Control knob for setting of mist volume
Operation Principle
Ultrasonic humidifiers atomize water into micro-droplets (approx. 1-5 µm) using ultrasonic high-frequency oscillation. A pneumatic device diffuses this water mist into the air to uniformly humidify the space. This ultrasonic technology is widely used in various fields.
Features and Functions
- Automatic lack-water security protection: A water level protection switch stops the transducer from atomizing when the water level is below a pre-calculated level, protecting it from burning out. The power light remains on, and the fan continues to operate.
- Mist volume is adjustable for user comfort.
- The transparent water tank allows for easy checking of the water level.
- High humidification efficiency with large output.
- Low energy consumption, saving 85-90% of electricity compared to standard humidifiers.
- Long lifetime.
Ideal Humidity Level
Relative humidity (%RH) is the ratio of water vapor in the air to the maximum water vapor the air can hold at a specific temperature. Air always contains water vapor, and its percentage varies with temperature. Warmer air can hold more moisture. In winter, cold outside air entering a room is heated, causing its relative humidity to drop. To maintain a healthy indoor environment, adding water or water vapor is necessary – this is humidification.
Ideal Relative Humidity Levels (approximate):
- For people: 45% RH–65% RH
- For disease prevention/treatment: 40% RH–55% RH
- For computers/communication appliances: 45% RH–60% RH
- For furniture/musical instruments: 40% RH–60% RH
- For libraries/galleries/museums: 40% RH–60% RH
Functions of Ultrasonic Humidifier
- Increases and regulates relative humidity.
- Eliminates electrostatic charges.
- Helps prevent diseases.
- Maintains appearance and protects skin.
- Adjusts room temperature.
Operation Instructions
Direction for Use
- Before first use, place the humidifier in the ambient temperature of the room for 30 minutes to acclimatize.
- Operating environment: temperature 5-40°C, max relative humidity 80%RH.
- Use clean water below 40°C; purified water is recommended.
- It is normal for a small amount of water to remain in the tank after automatic shut-off due to low water level.
- Check the water basin to ensure it is clean.
Control
- When using for the first time, unpack the unit.
- Open the water tank cover by twisting, pour water into it, then screw the cover back on.
- Connect to electricity. Press the main switch (P1); the power light (green) will turn on. Adjust mist volume by turning the control knob (P6) to select slight or heavy mist.
- When cleaning or emptying the unit, place a container under the outlet, open the cover by twisting, and pour water into the container. Screw the cover back on when the machine is clean.
Trouble Shooting Guide
Fault Symptom | Analysis of Causes | Failure Recovery Method |
---|---|---|
Power light on, air blown but no mist. | No water in the tank. Cover of water level protection switch not closed properly. |
Fill the water into the tank. Reinstall the cover. |
Peculiar smell of mist. | New machine. | Keep the water tank uncovered in a cool place for 12 hours. |
Power light on but no blow or no mist. | Dirty water or water stored in the tank for a long time. Water level too high in the tank. |
Clean the water tank and refill the tank. Keep the water in an ordinary level. |
Small mist output. | The transducer is dirty. Dirty water or water stored in the tank for a long time. |
Clean the transducer. Clean the water tank and refill the water. |
Abnormal noises. | Resonance caused by insufficient water in the water basin. Resonate with the surface where the unit is placed. |
Add water into the basin. Place the unit on a steady surface or ground. |
If the humidifier still does not work normally after these checks, contact the supplier or a local maintenance center.
Cleaning and Maintenance
If using hard water (high in calcium and magnesium), white powder or scale may form on the transducer, basin, and tank interior. Scale on the transducer can impair its function.
Recommendations:
- Use cold boiled or distilled water.
- Clean the transducer, water tank, and basin unit weekly.
- Change the water in the tank frequently to keep it fresh.
- Before storing the unit for a long period, empty the water tank and dry the basin.
- If not using the unit for an extended period, clean the entire unit and ensure all parts are completely dry.
- Do not use chemicals for cleaning.
How to clean the transducer:
- Apply 5-10 drops of cleaning abluent to the transducer surface and wait 2-5 minutes.
- Gently brush out any scale.
- Rinse the transducer with clean water.
How to clean the basin unit:
- Clean the basin with a soft cloth and abluent if scale is present.
- If scale is on the security switch, apply abluent to the scale and clean with a brush.
- Rinse the basin with clean water.
