Midas Heritage 1000
Professional Audio Mixing Console
Introduction
Midas is proud to introduce the Heritage Series of audio mixing consoles, representing the latest in Midas's tradition of impeccable sonic quality and outstanding technical specifications. These consoles are at the state of the art in audio mixing technology, developed in response to the success of the Midas XL3 and XL4 consoles. Midas has been designing and manufacturing live performance mixing consoles since the early 1970s, consistently leading audio innovations. The Heritage 1000 console brings the unmistakable sound and legendary engineering quality of the Midas brand to a wider audience. Despite being the lowest-cost item in the Heritage series, its audio performance is superior to many higher-cost consoles. This is achieved by concentrating on core operational features while retaining traditional Midas values, making it an extremely flexible, professional audio tool accessible to more budgets.
The Midas sound, often imitated but never equalled, is at the heart of every Heritage console. The Heritage 1000 features the renowned XL4 microphone pre-amplifier and EQ section, offering extremely quiet input stages and legendary Midas EQ for signal optimization. Military-grade components ensure longevity.
A key design principle is the console's physical size. The Heritage 1000 is designed for applications requiring high-specification, multiple output consoles in a compact, easily transportable frame. Various frame sizes and extender consoles are available, and all Heritage series consoles can be bussed together for total configurability.
Manufactured almost entirely by hand in Kidderminster, England, the Heritage 1000, like the 3000 and 2000 series, upholds Midas's commitment to engineering standards. It comes with a full three-year factory warranty and global distributor support.
The Heritage 1000 series is designed to fit your budget, your application, and your needs.
Mono Input Module (HS1001)
The HS1001 Mono Input Module is a comprehensive mic/line channel strip featuring the legendary XL4 microphone pre-amp and a classic MIDAS 4-band equaliser. The equaliser offers two fully parametric mid sections and variable frequency high and low shelving filters (2kHz-20kHz and 20Hz-200Hz). The channel insert point can be switched pre or post-equaliser, and a direct output is switchable pre or post-fader. It includes input pad, phase, and phantom power switches, plus a secondary 'B' input for backup sources. A variable high-pass filter (20Hz-400Hz) can be engaged before the main equaliser.
Ten mono aux controls can be assigned pre or post-fade. Aux 7-10 can be configured as stereo pairs with level and pan control. Aux send on/off is managed by the console assignment system. The module supports stereo and mono bus switching, and the MIDAS SIS spacial imaging system for LCR loudspeaker setups.
Adjacent to the fader are 10 Assign LEDs for Aux, VCA, and Mute assignments, controlled centrally and locally. Pre-fade metering is near the fader, and an illuminated Mute button allows manual or automation-controlled muting. The Solo button routes the channel signal to PFL mono and AFL stereo busses, latching briefly or switching off when held.
All assignments are recallable by the automation system. A 'Safe' switch removes the channel from automation control. An 'Automation Disable' switch provides total isolation and loads channel default settings, offering contingency for automation failure.
Stereo Input Module (HS1004)
Similar to the HS1001, the HS1004 Stereo Input Module is a mic/line channel strip with a classic MIDAS 4-band equaliser. It features two quasi-parametric mid sections (switchable Q: 1.5 or 0.5 octaves) and variable frequency high and low filters (1kHz-20kHz and 20Hz-400Hz). The equaliser can be bypassed per channel. Input pad, phase, and phantom power switches are included, along with separate pre-insert high-pass filters.
Ten mono aux controls are assignable pre or post-fade, with Aux 7-10 configurable as stereo pairs. Aux send on/off is handled by the console assignment system. Each stereo channel supports stereo and mono bus switching.
Ten Assign LEDs indicate Aux, VCA, and Mute assignments, controlled centrally and locally. Pre-fade metering is near the fader, and an illuminated Mute button can be used for manual or automation muting. The Solo button routes the channel signal to PFL mono and AFL stereo busses, with latching or momentary operation.
Assignments are recallable by the automation system. A 'Safe' switch bypasses automation control. The 'Automation Disable' switch offers isolation and loads default settings for contingency.
Group / Stereo Aux Module (HS0012 / HS1011)
The HS0012 Group Module offers a flexible Group master control strip with a Group master fader, VCA master fader, and Aux Master level control. A high-resolution meter monitors peak subgroup outputs, and a Bus Peak LED warns of clipping. A 'Meter to Aux' switch allows monitoring of Aux levels. The Aux Master section includes Talk and Phase switches, with a Mute switch controllable manually or via automation. A rotary control sets the aux output level, with Solo and Safe switches included.
The Group Master fader section has Safe and Solo buttons, Pan, Mute, and routing to master stereo/mono busses, with SIS features similar to main channels. Mute and Safe switches are also present for the VCA Master Fader, with 11 LEDs indicating VCA settings. Fader modes are selected centrally. A 'Fader Swap' switch exchanges group output faders and aux master level controls, along with their solo/mute switches, without affecting inserts or XLR outputs.
The HS1011 Stereo Aux Group Module is similar to the HS1011 Group module but adds a Master Stereo Aux switch, routing input module aux sends to stereo level and pan pairs on busses 7/8 and 9/10.
Master Module (HS1021)
The HS 1021 Masters Module provides three sets of Master and Monitor high-resolution meters, along with three Master faders. These can be configured as Left, Right Mono, Left Centre Right, etc. Each has a Mute switch, independent of the snapshot automation system. Console lamp brightness control is included, along with an external tape feed routable to stereo and mono busses.
A continuously variable oscillator (50Hz-5kHz) and a pink noise generator are fitted, with signal generator output routable to internal Talk busses and external Talk XLR. Full talkback facilities are available via a 150-ohm microphone input. A Stereo Solo Trim control and Mono routing send the post-fader mono master mix to the local monitor out. An SIS switch routes solo signals to local stereo and mono monitor outputs, overriding other sources. Local monitor and level controls, plus a comprehensive headphone monitor section, are included. The 'Solo On/Clear' switch indicates active solos and clears them when pressed.
Matrix Module (HS1041)
Each HS1041 dual Matrix Module offers post-fader level metering and Talk buttons for inclusion in the talkback system. 'Safe' buttons prevent matrix outputs from snapshot automation control, while 'Solo' switches route matrix signals to PFL mono and AFL buses. Matrix sends are provided for mono sends 1-6, with an 'Aux 1-6 To Mtx' switch allowing matrix inputs to be sourced from aux outputs instead of group outputs. A similar arrangement exists for aux 7-10.
Separate Left/Right and Centre level controls are fitted, and the master matrix level control includes Mute and Safe switches. A 'Link' switch merges the upper matrix into the lower one. Up to 16 matrix modules can be fitted, creating a 25x16 matrix (or 13x32 when unassigned).
Automation Module (HS1033)
The HS 1033 Automation module manages channel assignment, mute, and snapshot automation. Separate VCA, Mute, S-Group, and Aux switches determine the operational mode, used in conjunction with channel Set buttons. Automation is driven by an intuitive VCA system designed for live performance. Numerical readouts for Act and Scene numbers are provided, with direct Fast Key access to ten user-defined snapshots. Snapshots can be stored as acts or scenes, with scenes organized as sub-sets of acts. Scenes can also be recalled via MIDI. A 'check mode' allows viewing virtual fader positions before activating a scene.
Automation data is read from a micro card (up to two supported). Status LEDs indicate automation activity. A switch selects between card A or B if two are installed. Comprehensive automation and MIDI editing are provided, with an option to disable during performance. Fader automation operates in Real Fader mode (physical faders control levels) or Virtual Fader mode (VCA automation controls levels). In Virtual mode, 11 meter LEDs show VCA gain settings irrespective of physical fader position. In Real Fader mode, status LEDs provide visual prompts. Editing facilities include scene edit, insert, and copy functions.
