Solar Animal & Bird Repellent
Model: GS-502
User Instructions
Thank you for purchasing our device. Please read and understand these instructions and keep this manual for future reference. This item uses solar power to recharge the batteries, so it always works after the battery is recharged. The Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor detects motion and triggers the ultrasonic speaker, emitting a tone that animals can feel, which chases them away. Our device is very effective, creating an unpleasant environment for the animals using ultrasonic sound. Sooner or later, they will leave your property (your pets will not leave).
Operation
The device operates using a strong ultrasonic wave to frighten animals. The wave is activated when an animal enters the PIR Sensor range, making the animals feel uncomfortable and causing them to run away from the area.
Additionally, a strong flashing LED is used to scare animals. The LED activates when an animal enters the area, frightening and causing the animal to flee.
For enhanced effectiveness, an alarm sound is included to scare wild animals.
The device features a PIR sensor, a solar panel on top, and an LED flash light. It also has a frequency control button and an adjusting sensitivity and distance knob on the side, along with an ultrasonic speaker at the front. The device is powered by 3xAA batteries. Approximate dimensions are 109.5mm and 142.5mm. An illustration shows the device being inserted into the ground using its spike, with a recommendation to leave at least 4.5 inches (12 cm) of the spike above ground for optimal placement.
Set Up
"Sensitivity" Button (Left): You can adjust the item's sensitivity and distance. Turning the knob clockwise increases the range of protection.
"Frequency" Button (Right): This controls the frequency. Turning the knob clockwise increases the frequency (except for modes #4 and #5).
In general, a lower frequency is more effective but may be audible. Aim to find a balance between low frequency and consideration for neighbors or family.
"Frequency" button position options:
| MODE | DESCRIPTION | ANIMAL |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Off | --- |
| 1 | Audible beep (13.5-19.5 kHz) | Cats, dogs, deers, etc. + all animals from mode # 2 and 3 |
| 2 | High frequency beep (19.5-24.5 kHz). When placed in the garden, the sound is barely audible. | Raccoons, skunks, badgers, martens, foxes, etc. + all animals from mode # 3 |
| 3 | 100% ultrasonic quiet (24.5-45.5 kHz) | Bats, mice, rats, rodents, etc. |
| 4 | Alarm + strong LED flashing lights | Wild animals, birds. |
| 5 | Combined audible and ultrasonic beep (13.5-45.5 kHz) + strong LED flashing lights | The most effective beeping mode. All animals. |
Assemble and Install
- Remove the battery compartment on the back. Install 3 x AA size rechargeable batteries, then close the battery compartment. (Usually, the batteries are already installed, so you can proceed to the next step).
- Next, allow two full days of sunlight to charge the batteries while the repeller is in the "OFF" position, or charge the unit using the adapter for 24 hours, or charge the batteries with an external charger.
- Point the unit towards the area you want to protect (for example, in the flowerbed or against a wall, etc.).
- Choose a place where the solar panel on top can receive maximum sun exposure time, or use the supplied transformer.
- The item can be inserted into the ground, mounted against the wall, or the top part can be placed directly on a flat surface.
- If mounting the unit in the ground, insert the spike carefully. Leave the spike 4.5 inches (12 cm) or more above the ground. It is suggested to dig a hole before inserting the unit to ensure no damage occurs.
Technical Specifications
- Infrared sensor angle: 110 degrees.
- Detection range: 24 ft / 7.5 m, depending on animal size (larger animals are detected at a greater range).
- Power supply: solar power + 3 * AA rechargeable batteries, or 9 V, 500 mA adapter. Charging time: 24 hours.
- Solar panel: 7 V, 35 mA
- Power Consumption: standby current: 1.2 mA; working current: 32 mA
- Red LED: indicates the unit is activated.
- The unit should operate for 24 hours after charging the batteries (via solar charging or the adapter). During cloudy or rainy periods without sunlight, recharge the batteries via the adapter.
- If using the adapter for an extended time or keeping the unit plugged in, remove the batteries from the unit. This is because a permanent power source can make the motion detector overly sensitive, causing the device to work almost non-stop.
Battery Issue
- If using new rechargeable batteries or if batteries have not been used for a long time (over 1 month), their power may be fully depleted. Charge the batteries for 24 hours to activate them; they will then be ready for use.
- If the batteries have been used for a long time and the device is not working properly, you need to change the batteries. Replace with 3 x 1.2V AA size rechargeable batteries (NiCad or Ni-MH) in the battery compartment. A capacity of at least 2500 mA is recommended for better performance.
- Please take used batteries to a recycling center for proper disposal. Consult your local government for more information.
Caution
- Part of the sound range may be audible to humans. Place the device as far as possible from human living spaces. Do not install the device in children's or babies' playground areas.
- Do not cover the PIR sensor.
- To clean the device, use a damp cloth and mild soap with water. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning agents that may damage the device.
