Important Safety Instructions - Radio Safety
WARNING: Read and understand all instructions. Keep these instructions. Heed all warnings. Follow all instructions. Do not use this apparatus near water. Clean only with a dry cloth. Do not block ventilation openings. Install according to manufacturer's instructions. Do not install near heat sources. Do not defeat the safety purpose of polarized or grounding-type plugs. Protect the power cord from damage. Use only manufacturer-specified attachments/accessories. Use only with recommended carts, stands, tripods, brackets, or tables. Use caution when moving carts to avoid tip-over. Unplug during lightning storms or when unused for long periods. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Do not expose to rain or moisture. Plug power supply into an accessible outlet. Operate in a well-ventilated area. Recharge battery-operated radios only with the specified charger. Do not use other batteries. Keep battery packs away from metal objects that could cause short circuits. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces. Do not use adapter plugs. Use outdoor extension cords marked "W-A" or "W" for outdoor use. Never disassemble the radio or attempt rewiring. Do not expose to dripping or splashing. Maintain labels and nameplates.
Charger Safety
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. Read this manual, your battery pack operator's manual, and all labels before use. To reduce the risk of injury, charge Milwaukee Li-Ion M18™ battery packs only in their Milwaukee Li-Ion charger. Other chargers may cause personal injury or damage. Battery packs and chargers are not compatible with V™™-technology or NiCd systems. Do not wire battery packs to power supply plugs or car cigarette lighters. Avoid dangerous environments; do not charge in rain, snow, damp or wet locations, or in the presence of explosive atmospheres. Charge in a well-ventilated area. Do not block charger vents. Keep vents clear. Do not allow smoking or open flames near charging battery packs. Maintain charger cords; pull the plug, not the cord, to disconnect. Keep cords from heat, oil, and sharp edges. Do not use damaged cords or plugs. Have damaged chargers replaced immediately. Do not short circuit battery packs; this can cause fire, injury, or product damage. Do not allow fluids to enter battery packs. Do not use extension cords unless absolutely necessary. Use only recommended attachments. Unplug chargers when not in use. Remove battery packs from unplugged chargers. Unplug charger before cleaning or maintenance. Store battery packs and chargers in a cool, dry place.
Extension Cords
Double insulated tools can use two or three-wire extension cords. Use a heavier gauge cord as the distance from the supply outlet increases. Using inadequately sized wire causes voltage drop, resulting in power loss and possible tool damage. Refer to the table for recommended minimum wire gauge based on amperage and extension cord length. Ensure extension cords are properly wired, in good electrical condition, and protected from sharp objects, heat, and damp areas. Unplug cords during lightning storms or when unused.
Grounding
Radios marked "Double Insulated" do not require grounding. They have a special double insulation system that satisfies OSHA requirements and complies with applicable standards.

Charger Operation
WARNING: Charge only Milwaukee M18™ Li-Ion battery packs in the Milwaukee Li-Ion Battery Charger. Other battery types may cause injury or damage. Battery packs and chargers are not compatible with V™™-technology or NiCd systems.
When to Charge MILWAUKEE Li-Ion Battery Packs
Remove the battery pack from the tool for charging at your convenience. Milwaukee batteries do not develop a "memory" from partial discharge. Use the Fuel Gauge to determine when to charge. You can "Top-Off" your battery pack's charge before a big job. Charge only when the battery pack has reached the end of its charge, indicated by a rapid drop in tool power.
How to Charge the Battery Pack
Plug the Radio + Charger into a 120V outlet. Place the battery pack onto the bay. The red light indicates charging status (solid for charging, flashing for too hot/cold). Charging time varies from 30 to 185 minutes for a fully discharged pack. Heavily cycled batteries may take longer. The Fuel Gauge lights on the battery pack indicate charge level. A solid green light means charging is complete. The charger will keep the battery pack fully charged if left connected. If the indicator flashes red and green, check battery seating. If the indicator does not light up, check battery seating. Contact Milwaukee service if problems persist.
Charging a Hot or Cold Battery Pack
A flashing red indicator light means the battery temperature is outside the charging range. Normal charging will resume when the battery reaches an acceptable temperature. Hot or cold batteries may take longer to charge.
Battery Pack Temperature | Charger Indicator Light Status | Charging Status |
---|---|---|
Too Hot | Fast Flashing Red | Not charging |
Normal Range | Continuous Red | Normal charging |
Too Cold | Fast Flashing Red | Not charging |
Maintenance
WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury, always unplug the charger and remove the battery pack from the charger or tool before performing any maintenance. Never disassemble the battery pack, charger, or tool, except as provided. Contact a MILWAUKEE service facility for other repairs.
Maintenance and Storage
Store your charger in a cool, dry place. It is generally recommended to unplug chargers and remove battery packs when not in use. No battery pack damage will occur if the charger and battery pack are left plugged in.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, personal injury, and product damage due to short circuits, never immerse the tool, battery pack, or charger in fluid or allow fluid to flow into them. Corrosive or conductive fluids can cause short circuits.
Cleaning
Clean dust and debris from charger vents and electrical contacts with compressed air. Use mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the battery pack and charger, avoiding electrical contacts. Some cleaning agents and solvents can damage plastic and insulated parts. Never use flammable or combustible solvents around battery packs, chargers, or tools.
Repairs
For repairs, return the tool, battery pack, and charger to the nearest service center.
