Installation Guide
Note: For best adhesion, clean mounting surfaces with rubbing alcohol.
- Place your helmet upside down on a clean, soft surface. If your helmet has removable interior or cheek pads, it is recommended to remove them for easier installation of the speakers, microphone, and wiring.
- Some helmets have speaker cut-outs. You may need to remove a foam insert. Position the speakers centered over your ears for optimal sound. If there's a significant gap between the speakers and your ears, use the included speaker spacers to improve audio quality. Affix the supplied circular hook and loop fastener in the helmet where the speakers will be placed.
- Attach the included Alpha Audio speakers to the hook and loop fasteners. Ensure the wires are oriented towards the top or rear of the helmet. The speaker with the shorter wire should be on the same side as the Rugged Connect BT2 control unit, typically the left side of the helmet.
- Locate the "Stay-Put" Flex Boom microphone. Align the round mounting plate between the helmet cheek pad and the internal wall of the helmet. Position the boom mic on the same side as the control unit. Ensure the foam-covered mic is close to your mouth. Once satisfied with the placement, cut the hook and loop fastener to size and apply the larger rectangular piece to the interior of your helmet. Press firmly to mount. Then, press the round boom mic mount onto the fastener.
- Temporarily remove the foam microphone cover. Ensure the flat part of the microphone is facing your mouth, ideally positioned in front of your lips. Replace the foam cover.
- Connect the male microphone plug to the female port on the speaker wires. Then, connect the 2.5 MM male connector of the speaker wire harness into the Rugged Connect BT2 unit.
- Attach one piece of the supplied 3M™ Dual Lock™ to the back of the Rugged Connect BT2 unit. Attach the second piece of 3M™ Dual Lock™ to the side of your helmet in a location that is easily accessible while riding, typically on the lower left side, slightly forward of center.
- Securely tuck away all wires. If you removed helmet liners or cheek pads, reinstall them and ensure all wires are safely hidden behind these components to prevent damage during use.
