Keychron K8 Max Quick Start Guide
Getting Started
If you are a Windows user, please find the appropriate keycaps in the box, then follow the instructions below to find and replace the following keycaps.
1. Connect 2.4GHz Receiver
Connect the 2.4GHz receiver to the device USB port.
Switch toggle to 2.4GHz mode: G/Cable / BT
switch set to G
.
Note: For the best wireless experience, Keychron recommends using the extension adapter for the receiver and placing the 2.4GHz receiver on your desk close to your keyboard for low latency and fewer signal interferences.
2. Connect Bluetooth
Switch toggle to Bluetooth mode: G/Cable/BT
switch set to BT
.
Press fn + 1
(for 4 seconds) and pair with the device named "Keychron K8 Max".
3. Connect Cable
Switch toggle to Cable mode: G/Cable/BT
switch set to Cable
.
4. Switch To The Right System
Please ensure the system toggle on the top left corner has been switched to the same system as your computer's operating system (Win
or Mac
).
5. The Backlight
Press fn + Q
to cycle through backlight effects.
Press fn + tab
to turn the backlight on/off.
6. Adjust The Backlight Brightness
Press fn + W
to increase the backlight brightness.
Press fn + S
to decrease the backlight brightness.
7. Warranty
The Keychron K8 Max keyboard is highly customizable and easy to rebuild. If any keyboard components fail during the warranty period, Keychron will replace only the defective parts, not the entire keyboard.
8. The Keychron Launcher App
Please visit launcher.keychron.com to use the online Launcher web app to remap keys, create macro commands, or flash firmware. If the Launcher cannot recognize your keyboard, please contact Keychron support for instructions.
- The online Launcher can only run on the latest versions of Chrome, Edge, and Opera browsers.
- The Launcher only works when the keyboard is connected by wire to the computer.
9. The Layers
There are four layers of key settings on the keyboard. Layers 0 and 1 are for the Mac system, while layers 2 and 3 are for the Windows system.
If your system toggle is switched to Mac, Layer 0 will be activated. If your system toggle is switched to Windows, Layer 2 will be activated. When using in Windows mode, make changes to Layer 2, not the top layer (Layer 0), as this is a common mistake.
10. Factory Reset & Firmware Update
Factory Reset:
- Power on your keyboard.
- Press and hold
fn + J + Z
(for 4 seconds). The keyboard backlight will flash red quickly for 3 seconds, indicating the keyboard has been reset.
Flash Keyboard Firmware:
- Visit launcher.keychron.com to open the online Launcher web app.
- Ensure the keyboard is in Cable or Wired mode and plug in the power cable.
- Find the 'Firmware Update' tab on the left side of the Launcher and connect your keyboard.
- Follow the instructions on the Launcher to complete the firmware update.
For a step-by-step guide, search for "firmware" on keychron.com.
