Growatt Solar Pump Inverter 750W-5500W User Manual
Introduction
The solar pumping system diagram illustrates the flow: Solar Panel array connects to the Solar Pump Inverter. The inverter then powers the Pump, which draws water from a Groundwater source or Water Tank. The system can also connect to the Utility Grid. The output can be used for Irrigation or Animal Husbandry. The diagram shows arrows indicating the direction of power and water flow.
The manual uses symbols to denote electrical values and safety precautions. These include: Grounding Wire of Equipment (symbol: ⏚), AC Value (symbol: ~), DC Value (symbol: —), Phase (symbol: ⏐), and a warning symbol (symbol: ⓘ) indicating 'Before operating inverter, please read the instruction.' Another symbol (symbol: ⚠) with a 5-minute delay indicates 'In order to avoid electric shock, break off machine with PV terminal and AC terminal for at least 5 minutes, then contact the wire of machine output terminal and input terminal.' A final warning symbol (symbol: ⚠) states 'Warning: when machine works, the temperature of metal shell may be very high.'
This solar pump inverter switches power from solar panels and the grid to the AC power needed to control the pump. It features a Boost circuit for MPPT solar charging to maximize solar power and allows setting the priority of PV and utility grid input. It is suitable for submersible pumps, ground pumps, swimming pool pumps, and other pumps using three-phase asynchronous motors.

Before installation, inspect the unit and package contents. The package should include: The unit (x1), User manual (x1), and Attachment (x1).
Wiring Introduction
The inverter features AC input, DC input, water level sensor connection terminals, GPRS (optional), and AC output terminals.
The terminal introduction table details the connections: PV (PV+, PV-), AC Input (L, N, PE), AC Output (1, 2, L, PE for 3PH; 1, L, PE for 1PH), COM terminal (1, 2 for water tank sensor 2; 3, 4 for water well sensor 1; 5, 6 are unused), and GPRS connection terminal (1: +5V, 2: TXD-232, 3: RXD-232, 4: GND).
Note that input socket polarity and AC output socket sequencing may differ between models. Risk of electric shock: disconnect solar panel, pump inverter AC and DC, and allow 5 minutes for internal capacitance discharge before any work.
Assemble DC Connector
To assemble the DC connector: Strip the cable (6-8mm), insert the bare wire into the core tube of the connector, crimp using a hex crimping die, and insert the core tube into the slot until it clicks. Tighten nuts to finish wiring.
Assemble AC Output Connector
For Growatt SPI 750-5500TL series, there are two AC output connector types. Type I (3-phase) uses AC connector 1, 2, L, PE for pump connection via 4 wires (U, V, W, PE). Type II (1-phase) uses AC connector L, 1, PE for pump connection via 3 wires (L, N, PE).
Assembly involves removing connector parts, guiding the pressure screw sealing and threaded sleeve over the cable, inserting stripped conductors into screw terminals (U, V, W, PE for Type I; L, N, PE for Type II), pushing the threaded sleeve into the socket element, screwing the pressure screw tightly, and finally inserting the connector into the inverter receptacle and locking the housing.
Assemble AC Input Connector
Similar to AC output, assembly involves preparing the connector parts, guiding the pressure screw sealing and threaded sleeve over the cable, inserting stripped conductors (L, N, PE) into the socket element's screw terminals, and securing the connector.
Push the threaded sleeve in to the socket element, screw the pressure screw tightly onto the threaded sleeve until it clicks. Insert the AC connection plug into the inverter receptacle and lock the housing.
Wiring of Water Level Sensor
The diagram shows the wiring of water level sensors. Water Level Sensor 2 connects to COM terminals 1 and 2 for the water tank. Water Level Sensor 1 connects to COM terminals 3 and 4 for the water well. The overall system includes Utility Grid, Solar Panel, AC Output, Water Pump, Water Tube, Water Tank, and Water Well.
Connect water level sensor 1 to detect water shortage. It connects to COM terminals 3 and 4. If sensor 1 detects low water level, the inverter delays output for 5s, then turns off pump protection. Normal operation resumes after water recovery and a 20s wait. Connect water level sensor 2 to detect if the water tank is full. It connects to COM terminals 1 and 2. If sensor 2 detects high water level, the inverter delays output for 5s and turns off. When the level drops below the set point, it waits 20s before restarting.

Operation
Display Panel
The solar pump inverter uses an LCD operation panel with 3 LED lights (POWER, ALARM, FAULT) and 5 keys.
The panel includes: POWER (Green LED: inverter running), ALARM (Yellow LED: warning or terminal mode), FAULT (Red LED: system failure). Keys are: Operation/Stop Key (short press to start/stop control, 2s press to stop control), Confirm/Programming Key (short press to enter programming mode or confirm alterations, 2s press to enter programming menu), Increment Key (increase parameter/value, increase output frequency), Decrement Key (decrease parameter/value, decrease output frequency), and Return Key (return to initial display).
LCD Display Information
The LCD displays operation data, control parameters, and historical parameters. Information switches by pressing UP/DOWN keys. Displayed items include: Output frequency (Running/Set), Input PV voltage, Output voltage, Output current, and Relative value of rated power.
Parameters Setting
Work Mode Setting
The inverter supports three work modes: Manual (P00.01=0), Fully-automatic terminal (P00.01=1, default), and GPRS (P00.01=2, optional). Manual mode requires key operation to start/stop. Fully-automatic mode traces maximum power point when sunlight is strong. GPRS mode allows remote control via cellphone.
To set Work Mode: Enter parameter modification interface (long press Enter key). Navigate to P00 group, then P00.01. Press Enter key to view/edit. Use Down key to select value (0 for manual, 1 for terminal). Press Enter key to save.
Rated Parameters Setting for the Motor
Ensure wiring is correct before setting motor parameters. Parameters include: P02.01 Motor rated power, P02.02 Motor rated frequency, P02.04 Motor rated voltage, P02.05 Motor rated current. After setting, set P00.01=1 for automatic mode.
The process involves navigating to the parameter group (e.g., P02), selecting the specific parameter (e.g., P02.01 for Rated Power), editing the value using Up/Down keys, and pressing Enter to save. For example, to set Rated Power to 4.0kW, navigate to P02.01, use Up/Down keys to change the displayed value to 4.0kW, and press Enter to save. Similarly, for Rated Current (P02.05), edit the value and save.
After setting parameters, turn off DC and AC switches. Wait for screen to turn off, then turn on DC switch. The inverter will auto-start the pump after 60 seconds.
Warning: Do not change parameters randomly, as it may cause system malfunction.
