06 How to Activate the System

To avoid injuries, securely fix the fogging machine to the wall according to the installation instructions. It is recommended not to install the machine behind walls in a limited void without specific ventilation to prevent overheating. It is always recommended to fix the fog generator to a solid wall, even when placed on a flat surface. The optional VESA bracket is recommended for ceiling installation and can simplify wall installations by providing easier access to back holes for cable entry. Ensure the bracket or support surface is suitable for the machine's weight. Remove the machine from packaging and unscrew the 4 screws fixing the front panel to gain access inside.

07 Power Supply Connection

The mains power (115V or 230V) supplies energy to the heating system and internal power supply. A VRLA 12V 2.0Ah battery (not included) must be connected to the recharge circuit to allow the unit to shoot without mains power. Average power consumption ranges from 37 W (Modular 2) to 53 W (Modular 8). Ambient temperature and battery load can influence consumption. Do not use inverters or UPS unless they generate a true sine wave. The maximum current to consider is 3.15A. Electricity grid connection (115V or 230V) must be performed by a qualified technician. Connect the equipment to the grid only after installation is complete. The ground terminal must be connected. The system must be connected to the mains via an automatic switch (e.g., a C-curve switch with 10A and 30mA differential trip) with a breaking capacity based on the assumed fault current. Replace fuses only with the specified type: CERAMIC BODY FILLED WITH QUARTZ, REF. STD. EN60127-2-3/DIN41660 3.15Ah.

The battery is essential for safe system operation and is recharged by the system board. The lead-acid battery (2 Ah DC 12 V) should be placed flat under the heat exchanger, with poles facing the plastic cover. The frontal cover must be removed to access the battery case.

Diagrams show power supply main connections, mains power input, ground connection, and battery slot.

08 Description of Input and Output Connections

The discrete signal port is a multiple-way screwed connector. The pinout is detailed in Table 1, with notes on each signal. DIP-SWITCH 4 set to OFF enables passive security (relays normally inactive). Signals on this port work in parallel with the serial interface commands. Voltages greater than the board's power supply should not be applied to any pin, except for relay outputs (up to 60V, 500mA). Some interface options depend on S3 (Dip Switch) configuration and W1/W2 jumpers.

A diagram shows the CPlus PCB with various components and connectors, including DIP SWITCH settings and jumpers W1/W2. A table details the function of each DIP SWITCH setting (1-8), including Fire Validation Output, LED signaling, sound signaling, passive/active security, panic input, and service mode.

A table lists various signals (e.g., +12V, ARMP, ARMN, TRGP, TRGN, INOP, INON, IN1P, IN1N, EMPC, EMP, FLTC, FLT, TMPC, TMP, FVLC, FVL, AUXC, AUX, PIR+, PIR-) with their direction, description, and relevant notes. These signals control arming, shooting, fault indications, and other functions.

09 Shooting Time Setting

To set the shooting time, locate the FIRETIME (S2) button on the PCB. Holding the button down will cause the 3 colored front LEDs to flash and the buzzer to emit an acoustic signal. Each flash/beep corresponds to one second of fog emission. Pressing the button again restarts the count from zero. If the button is pressed for longer than the unit's capabilities, the fog emission will be set to the maximum allowed. A short press activates the shooting time verification mode, where the buzzer emits beeps corresponding to the stored shooting time. Ensure the control panel is set to “service” before opening the cover to prevent accidental shooting. A minimum shooting time of 4 seconds is recommended.

Recommended shooting seconds are provided based on the volume of space to protect (m³), with tables for Modular 2 Plus (max 28 sec.), Modular 3 Plus (max 40 sec.), Modular 4 Plus (max 46 sec.), Modular 5 Plus (max 48 sec.), and Modular 8 Plus (max 64 sec.). These tables indicate the required seconds of emission for different volumes, with notes on industrial standards and adjustments for density, temperature, pressure, residue, and light intensity.

A formula is provided for calculating shooting time based on room dimensions and environmental factors: (HxLxP) x D x V x R x I, where H=Height, L=Width, P=Depth, D=Density, V=Temperature/Air Pressure, R=Acceptable residue, I=Light intensity.

10 Error Checking

The machine has self-diagnosis checks. If a problem requiring installer intervention is detected, the red LED DL7 will illuminate. Pressing the RESET button briefly will cause the buzzer to emit a number of beeps indicating the error type, as detailed in a table. Error types include heat exchanger overtemperature, temperature regulation fault, thermocouple reference fault, triac overtemperature, thermocouple error, EEPROM error, missing battery, low battery voltage, mains power supply issues, pump overcurrent/shortcircuit, and empty fluid bag.

11 Connection Examples

UR Fog Modular Plus fogging systems can be connected to any existing Alarm Panel. Activation of fog emission should ideally result from a “double confirmation” input, with the “ARM” signal as the first confirmation. If a TRIG command or PIR validation input is received while the unit is in “ARM” status (Blue LED on), the unit will generate fog for the programmed time.

A) Siren Emulation: ARMING involves sending a latched output (12v DC + to ARMP PIN, 12v DC - to ARMN PIN) to the unit. SHOOTING occurs when the alarm system signals an event, sending an impulse signal (duration >500ms) to the unit (12v DC + to TRGP, 12v DC - to TRGN).

B) Relay Activation: Define an area on the alarm panel for arming the fog device. The relay in this area should close when the alarm system is activated. Define another area for fog emission, where the relay closes when an event is detected.

Note: If the ARMED signal is removed during shooting, the unit stops fog emission immediately.

Optional Shooting Methods:

12 Fluid Installation, Exchange and Bag Reset

Insert the metal connector into the pipe connected to the fluid PUMP until the “click” of the metal plug is heard. IMPORTANT: When inserting a new refill or replacing an empty fluid bag, the fluid measurement system must be reset. To do this, hold the RESET button for 3-4 seconds until the confirmation tone is heard.

Images show the connection of the metal connector to the fluid pump and a close-up of the PCB with the RESET and FIRETIME buttons.

13 Front LED Indicators

The unit features several LED indicators:

The central RED low power light indicates the unit is powered on. The RED FAULT LED is located on the top of the board.

14 Maintenance

UR Fog fogging systems require minimal special maintenance, but periodic checks by skilled operators are suggested:

  1. Verify battery and power supply status.
  2. Verify screws are firmly closed.
  3. Verify the output nozzle is not damaged and is free of obstructions.
  4. Verify the pneumatic circuit.
  5. Verify the liquid pump once a year.

Battery and PSU Voltages: Verify power supply output is 14.1 V (without load, battery unplugged) on the PSU and 13.8 V on FASTON battery connectors. Adjust the trimmer on the power supply if a different value is noted. Check battery status for integrity and overheating. Replacing the battery every 2 years is recommended due to heavy load during shots without mains power.

Screws: Verify all fixing screws are correctly set and retighten if necessary.

Output Nozzle: Verify the output nozzle is not damaged and free from blockages.

Yearly Pump Functionality Test: Perform a trial shot. To avoid excessive fog during the test, stop the flow after a few seconds by disarming the unit. The fog flow will stop immediately.
